It should go on sale tomorrow. This is a discussion thread regarding the phone. And as always... This forum is not Engadget or The Verge. If you do not like this phone, express your opinion and then ignore. You do not have to post the same shit again and again. Cheers.

Confused whether to buy ACT or not?Help pls Posted: 17 Feb 2014 10:05 AM PST I am currently using BSNL 950 plan 4mbps upto 8gb after that 512kbps.Saw ACT in chennai city and they provide connection to my area but confused whether to go with it or not.Saw reviews most of them were negative.Internet connection drops off suddenly.Has anybody tried ACT broadband in Chennai and how is the experience?good or worse and mainly how is customer service for repairing?Pls help me by answering this question |
I don't understand these bad reviews about ACT! Posted: 17 Feb 2014 10:03 AM PST Seriously people, is ACT that bad? Before going for ACT I had made up my mind to go with BSNL's EVDO as I had read all these bad reviews about ACT. I went to BSNL's CSC and they made me visit their place for continuous 4 days without any progress about the connection. After that, leaving BSNL aside, here is how ACT worked for me,
Speed is as promised and ping is good enough to play Counter Strike. |

The general cricket discussion thread Posted: 17 Feb 2014 08:19 AM PST Why this thread? So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread... Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread... Will start with one post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Misbah & Taibu seem to competing with each other for the prize of who can bat more defensively.... ---------- After beating NZ in the 3rd ODI with a draing chase... Now Zimbabwe are on verge on possibly upsetting them in the Only Test... 116 needed in 34 Overs (Incl mandatory Overs) with the new ball just taken |

Posted: 17 Feb 2014 07:18 AM PST On 14 Feb there was special offer of Internet. 1.5 GB 2G data for 30 days for Rs. 99 only. So I recharge with the same. but cheater IDea given me only 450 MB 2G data for 15 days.
So I have lodged complaint about data benefit which was not given. But today I got sms mentioning that my complaint is cancelled. Idea cancel the complaint without providing any solution. I have talked to customer care executive, he said system is slow and he can't give reason why complaint is cancelled blah blah blah. WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT IDEA PROVIDING? IS THIS THE WAY IDEA TREATS CUSTOMERS?
Please suggest me the future course of action for the matter.

Review of Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle from Bangalore Posted: 17 Feb 2014 05:26 AM PST Hello Everybody Airtel did a exhibition in our apartment yesterday on Airtel 4G LTE. We ordered an Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle yesterday in it. The price which was offered to us was Rs 2499 with 6 month 999 plan which offers 9GB per month. Here is the speed i got in a demo shown to us in my Laptop. I was really astonished to see such high speed in "our country" for such a price and that too via a wireless solution. I can understand that the offered bandwidth cap is very much small for such a speed, but even then the speed which Airtel offered was really amazing. The Airtel gut assured me that they would maintain 10 MBps as minimum speed in the course of time. I need one clarification from experts in this forum on a moment which made me awestruck. We can easily get rated speed inside our country when we point speedtest.net to Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai servers. But the speedtest meter hit back to 40 MBps instantly even if i point to a server which is located in USA. How can that be possible, please explain me guys. As i haven't seen more than 4MBps against a USA server in our country. But the poor Huawei USB Dongle used software compression and modulation. Because of that my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13" Laptop brought to it's knees when i try to watch a Full HD Video in Youtube. It is certainly not because of playing a Full HD Video in my Laptop created such an impact. |
Tikona Broadband User Experiences Posted: 17 Feb 2014 05:24 AM PST Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience. They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me. I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them. So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2014 05:15 AM PST I orderd NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2012 from Tradus.in as I got the unmatched price of INR 494.00. http://www.tradus.in/computers-it/softwares/norton-2012-1-user-internet-security On 13th May(after chasing them), I got the packet (received by my brother as I was not at home)through BlueDart containing NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2012. To my surprise, the shipment and billing is done by BUYTHEPRICE.COM . I have lodged a complain of Wrong Product Delivery through mail. Lets see what happens. So while dealing with Tradus keep the points mentioned below in mind- 1- No Customer Care Phone Number 2- Delay in Shipment 3- Might get wrong product delivered(like mine). |
How is Tikona Broadband in Bangalore? Posted: 17 Feb 2014 05:03 AM PST First of all, I don't have any other options for broadband as AirTel has ruled out the feasibility for a connection due to lack of ports in my apartment and ACT BB, who is my current ISP does not have feasibility to transfer my connection to my new apartment. |

Posted: 17 Feb 2014 04:42 AM PST Goodbye BSNL! I finally have an viable option and can consign my BSNL broadband connection to the garbage. To be honest the service was not too bad - I had the 8 GB @ 2Mbps plan and by and large connectivity was okay. But the speed was never up to the mark. And on the few times I had problems, their customer service was so bad I felt like ripping the phone lines out of th wall. Firstly, they only work from around 10 AM to 5 PM. So what happens if there is a problem outside thosehours and urgent work is held up? And if you do call during working hours, it takes ages for anyone to answer - the average is the phone rings for about 10 minutes. And once you get an asnwer the oeprator is least interested in hearing about the problem - she is in a rush to give you a complaint number and go off.
But what made me decide to finally give BSNL the kick was a couple of weeks ago when the connection kept going on and off every few minutes. After the usual headaches I was able to maek a complaint in the morning. When nothing was done till late afternoon I spent another half an hour tryign to call them again. When I got through and said that nothing had been done about my complaint, the operator said that there is nothing she can do and gave me the number of the local telephoen exchange and said I should phone them. That number was, of course, always busy.
Another ongoing issue with BSL is that at fixed times everyday - aroud 5 PM and 10 AM in my case, the bandwidth dropped considerably. Other sers tell me that this is because BSNL allows public sector clients to use excess bandwidth - its a government to government thing and the hell with private users.
There are other service providers who offer up to 40 GB downlaod (upload not taken into account for calculating usage) at speeds of up to 15 Mbps. There is no reason why anyone should use BSNL. I am happy I got rid of this third rate organization. |
