Airtel or Nextra

Posted: 16 Feb 2014 11:00 AM PST

Hey guys,

I am from south Delhi thinking to switch to Nextra cuz its more economical then Airtel.

I have been exteremly satisfied with Airtel services so far. Net is amazing. Zero downtime, constant ping.

Can I expect the same from Nextra?

I am currently on Airtel Rapid 80 under 20% discount offered by retention team last month.

I'll call them again at end of this month to discontinue. I'll stick to them if they offer them true unlimited plan with at least bps speed.

Any one aware if they currently have 2 or 4mbps retention plan if so what are there prices?

Thanks!
With atleast 2mbps speed*

Connectivity to Singapore Server

Posted: 16 Feb 2014 10:58 AM PST

Hi,

I haven't been able to connect to DigitalOcean's Singapore datacenter for a while on my airtel connection (aircel 3G seems to work fine). If somebody else can try and connect to http://speedtest-sgp1.digitalocean.com/ and see if it loads (and ping times to speedtest-sgp1.digitalocean.com) it would be great...wondering if it's just me or is if their is some airtel issue...Thanks

BSNL - EVDO - Usage - Review and everything about it

I know its a old school connection , about 4 years old but till now there isnt a better wireless plan compared to this till now

Rs 750 Pm True Unlimited . Prepaid

Pros:
1. True Unlimited no FUPs - i download around 100-150 Gbs a month, i can download upto 200-300 Gbs but i run out of files
2. Priced cheap compared to others , when they charge Rs 1000 with 10 Gb FUP
3. U dont have to talk to the customer care ever

Cons:
1. it has too many
2. Coverage is too thin , forget about slow speed there are places where u wont get any service at all
3. u just cannot walk to a BSNL office and buy this sim , because 70% of them doesnt know there is a service like this
4. CDMA
5. Availability of CDMA- EVDO modems in the market
6. Recharge Problems , those STVs mentioned on the site dont work most of the time ( lost Rs 1000 over online Recharge couple of times)

even after all the above i just love this connection , its prepaid and costs 750 pm , unlimited
have nice coverage in my town , so always get 1-2mbps , but dont ask about the ping or latency values

with this connection i have never thought about another connection for 3 years now .

have some doubts ? want details ? ask it here

happy to help

Max speed , remind u that my device supports upto 3.1mbps only

Recharge:

recharge for Rs 20 for 6 months validity , make with a retailer if he says this amount is not available insist that it works

topup for any amount you like , every 30 days the rental would get deducted automatically

Arvind Kejriwal

Posted: 16 Feb 2014 08:23 AM PST

Emulate Kejriwal, says Pakistani daily — timesofindia.indiatimes.com

A leading Pakistani daily on Sunday called for emulating Arvind Kejriwal, who quit as chief minister of India's national capital, and said that "his simple demeanour and cry against corruption is a model the Pakistani aam aadmi could in time be inspired to try out".
"In Arvind Kejriwal, the aam aadmi, or common man, in Pakistan did not just see an Indian politician out to entertain peeping neighbours with his public antics," said the editorial.
It lauded Kejriwal's "simple demeanour and cry against corruption" and called it "a model the Pakistani aam aadmi could in time be inspired to try out, depending on Kejriwal's journey in New Delhi".
Though the AAP journey in Delhi has been stalled, the editorial said that Kejriwal's tenure lasted "more than Atal Behari Vajpayee's 13-day first stint as prime minister all those years ago".

Pepper Spray used in Indian Parliament

Posted: 16 Feb 2014 08:19 AM PST

A parliamentarian used pepper spray, triggering a coughing bout and three MPs had to be taken to hospital in unprecedented scenes in Parliament over the controversial bill to create Telangana by dividing Andhra Pradesh, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha today.

Congress MP L Rajagopal used pepper spray as two sets of MPs - for and against Telangana - rushed to the Well of the Lok Sabha. A computer was flung and broken in the clash; a mic was thrown.

Two groups of protesters also clashed outside Parliament and a heavy contingent of police arrived to remove them as the volatile political atmosphere spilled onto the streets.

There is unprecedented security in Parliament after a suicide threat by an MP.

Fire extinguishers and blankets have been kept ready in Parliament after a Congress MP allegedly threatened to set himself afire to protest against Telangana. The MP, Sabbam Hari, is one of the six that the ruling party expelled for moving a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.

No visitors are being allowed in the Parliament House and even those entering the press galleries are being put through rare checks. Sources say security personnel are also cautious about protesting MPs carrying any suspicious objects, though they cannot frisk them.

These MPs belong to the non-Telangana regions of Seemandhra, which are vehemently opposed to bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.
"This government can't bring the bill. It's a minority bill. Its own ministers are opposing it and they are depending on the Opposition to pass it," said L Rajgopal.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met top ministers before Parliament began to discuss whether to bring the bill today, as the government anticipated trouble.

Members in blindfolds protested in the Rajya Sabha, shouted slogans and held up placards. Both houses were adjourned within minutes as Andhra Pradesh MPs, including ministers, vowed to block the Telangana bill.

There have been ugly and embarrassing clashes in Parliament since last week. "My heart bleeds to see what is happening in the House. This is bad for democracy," said the Prime Minister yesterday, after two MPs nearly attacked each other before other lawmakers intervened.

Power Supply Crisis in Delhi

BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna get power supply suspension notices — zeenews.india.com

NTPC on Saturday served notices of power supply suspension to the two Anil Ambani-owned distribution companies in Delhi due to payment issues. The state-owned utility said BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna had not maintained letters of credit of adequate value, a prerequisite for getting power from NTPC stations.
Since BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna have not been able to provide the requisite payment security mechanism, notice for regulation of power supply for 90 days starting February 11 has been issued to both companies.

Inbound Passengers to India have to declare currency over Rs 10000 in Immigration Forms

Posted: 16 Feb 2014 06:23 AM PST

Passengers flying into India will have to declare Indian currency exceeding Rs. 10,000 being brought by them, according to new customs rules which will be implemented from next month.

Besides, they will also be asked to declare the number of baggage, including hand baggage, while entering into the country, say new rules notified by the Finance Ministry.

According to new rules under Customs Baggage Declaration (Amendment) Regulations, 2014, an Indian citizen would need to fill up the immigration form only when he or she goes out of the country. There will be no immigration form for Indian citizens returning from abroad.

The regulations will be implemented from March 1, said a notification issued on February 10 by the Finance Ministry.

For the first time, travellers would be asked to specifically declare any prohibited articles, gold jewellery (over free allowance), gold bullion and Indian currency exceeding Rs. 10,000 in the new form, they said.

A passenger will have to give details of countries visited in the past six days and mention the passport number on the new form, which was not there earlier.

Passengers will also have to give details of baggage, including hand baggage, being carried by them in a separate column on the form.
