Digital Camera with Manual Controls Posted: 29 Nov 2013 10:54 AM PST Basically confused between a mirrorless camera and a DSLR. Looking for great picture quality with some manual controls which can give me nice (DSLR like) focus. Bokeh would be awesome.

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 10:10 AM PST I'm planning to get a Gigabit Router and modem for my MTNL connection wanted to keep the modem and router seperate to avoid any disconnection so took this route , I'm looked around and since my love for Asus Router is on higher side i see Asus RT N15U and Asus RT N16U , and it seems RT15U is nothing but N13U with gigabit and great looks only concern for me being the vertical stand and connection LAN cables to it.RT N16 have DD WRT router but it seems a quite a old router now but still kicking ass against the older model , also there is TP Link WDR 4300 750 which i dont have much info on
For modem i see TP Link 8817 , DLink DSL-2520U or something else should i look for multiple Ethernet port in modem or just 1 would be ok ? |
Google Nexus 5 does not stay connected to Wi-Fi in Standby Posted: 29 Nov 2013 10:08 AM PST
This has become a major annoyance. Everytime I wake up the phone, there are like 10-15 alerts for 3G usage.
Wi-Fi settings look fine.
I never faced this on Galaxy Nexus. |
Posted: 29 Nov 2013 10:04 AM PST Each hour, for 24 hours, ZAGG will be discounting a different item by 40-60%.
I guess I am missing out on a lot of deals just because I could not wait to get the Nexus 5 and the accessories for it

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 08:04 AM PST Hello everyone, first time poster here.
I am located in thane west and have been using 5net for about 3 months now. The main reason i switched over to 5net from my tata indicom adsl was the torrent speeds. I always used to get 900kB/s fro popular torrents and even 7-8 MB/s for more popular torrents. Later i discovered that it is due to BtCache/ CacheBT.. BtCache/CacheBT no longer shows up in the peer list for the currently downloading torrents (as many of you might know.. this is a network caching cluster of fivenet which provides such amazing speeds... simply put.. local torrent caching)
i can see however that youtube still works good for 720 even 1080p videos(i.e youtube is still cached)
has fivenet stopped torrent caching?? any one else facing a similar issue?? a call to my lco got me this response "Everything is fine"

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 07:26 AM PST I am running an experiment to map internet access speeds. Hopefully, this experiment will one day help people see the real speeds available in their area through crowd-sourcing.
I would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to submit a speed test result, location and your broadband ISP / plan name. Every few days I shall farm the sumitted results onto a map like this http://goo.gl/8IBd6d (Click on the markers to view the result details)
Submit your Speedtest.net result here: http://goo.gl/NlBzQm

Metronet (Bell Teleservices) in Bangalore - 10 Mbps for Rs. 1699 Posted: 29 Nov 2013 06:31 AM PST I finally found an ISP (a local cable provider) with 10 Mbps UL Plans, well atleast with 100gb FUP & 1Mbps after for Rs. 1699. They call themselves Maruti Network & operate on 'Metronet' (Belltele.in) network, could not find much info on their website: www.metrotelecom.in but the local cable guy from Maruti network gave me this flyer:
Is anyone else from Bangalore using this, need some reviews & more details on their service / other plans etc. I already paid Rs. 1500 for installation & should get the connection by Tuesday
EDIT on 12th July 2013 :
*My overall review after using this connection for over 2 weeks : http://broadbandforum.co/topic/66171-metronet-bell-teleservices-in-bangalore-10-mbps-for-rs-1699/page-2#entry686391 |

Tikona Broadband User Experiences Posted: 29 Nov 2013 06:06 AM PST Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience. They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me. I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them. So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated. |

Upgraded to BBG Combo ULD 1425, Can't get BSNL to upgrade speed Posted: 29 Nov 2013 05:24 AM PST Hello Everyone, I was on BBG Combo ULD 800 & I upgraded to BBG Combo ULD 1425 in Oct. Plan was changed & portal reflects my plan but there is no improvement in speed. I have gone to exchange multiple times but they say that they are not responsible for speed, I should go to the main office & file a complaint there. Which I did but there is no response since then. also raised a complaint in portal, but it gets set to "RESOLVED".
Its more than a month but my modem still syncs at 2048/512kbps. Now, how to I get these bsnl idiots to increase the speed as per the plan subscribed? |

Frequent Disconnection / ADSL blinking Issue on MTNL Broadband Posted: 29 Nov 2013 03:12 AM PST Hi, I am a user of 849NU plan of MTNL Triband service since August based out of Navi Mumbai. All of August, i was very happy to have a lovely connection and good speeds, with a pretty good tariff. But now since the past 15 days I am suffering from very intermittent net connection. Although I am connected to the internet, sometimes the webpages take ages to open, and never open, while at other times it opens instantly. Also downloading has the same pattern, sometimes I get very good speeds of upto 200 Kbps, while other times there is no download. Although all download sites show good Triband Speed, but it is the intermittent connection that is the problem. This problem has crept up in the last 15 odd days, and I have tried everything but no change has been noticed. Has anyone else faced a similar problem, and if yes, whats the work around. The people at MTNL classify this as a slow connection problem, but that is exactly not the issue, as I do get good speeds intermittently. Somebody please help me. |
The general cricket discussion thread Posted: 29 Nov 2013 03:03 AM PST Why this thread? So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread... Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread... Will start with one post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Misbah & Taibu seem to competing with each other for the prize of who can bat more defensively.... ---------- After beating NZ in the 3rd ODI with a draing chase... Now Zimbabwe are on verge on possibly upsetting them in the Only Test... 116 needed in 34 Overs (Incl mandatory Overs) with the new ball just taken |
General Enquiry placed for Tata Docomo Broadband Posted: 29 Nov 2013 02:57 AM PST So, I requested a call back asking details of plans and feasibility in two close by locations including my current residence. Have got calls thrice, once they even promised to send sales executive but no one turned up. The other call said they will check feasibility at both locations and call back. The third one just took my details and said will call back.
All this is the past week or so. Lets see how this goes. |
