Tikona Broadband User Experiences Posted: 26 Oct 2013 11:57 AM PDT Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience. They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me. I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them. So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated. |
Suggestions for a Gaming laptop - Budget 80K (No Alienware) Posted: 26 Oct 2013 11:57 AM PDT So this is for a friend who wants to buy a new Gaming laptop (not a desktop).
And he is firm that he doesn't want an Alienware.
With a budget of 80K, I'm sure there would be many solid options available for him. Suggestions? |

Frequent Disconnection / ADSL blinking Issue on MTNL Broadband Posted: 26 Oct 2013 07:37 AM PDT Hi, I am a user of 849NU plan of MTNL Triband service since August based out of Navi Mumbai. All of August, i was very happy to have a lovely connection and good speeds, with a pretty good tariff. But now since the past 15 days I am suffering from very intermittent net connection. Although I am connected to the internet, sometimes the webpages take ages to open, and never open, while at other times it opens instantly. Also downloading has the same pattern, sometimes I get very good speeds of upto 200 Kbps, while other times there is no download. Although all download sites show good Triband Speed, but it is the intermittent connection that is the problem. This problem has crept up in the last 15 odd days, and I have tried everything but no change has been noticed. Has anyone else faced a similar problem, and if yes, whats the work around. The people at MTNL classify this as a slow connection problem, but that is exactly not the issue, as I do get good speeds intermittently. Somebody please help me. |
Condition of MTNL box in your society Posted: 26 Oct 2013 07:33 AM PDT Guys so frustrated with MTNL that I am starting a thread for MTNL box location in your society. I have uploaded this pic just now after several phone call to MTNL broadband guy, AM, SDO, GM & what not however no action is taken and broaband kepps coming anfd going off. This is the worst condition and water is dripping from top from a air conditioning duck. I am also going to sent an email with this pic to the mtnl so called babus so that they can see what the hell is going on in my society.
Airtel speed sucks and they have fup but atleast in my society they have a decent box installed with proper wiring. Here you can see the MTNL wiring and the box does not even has a close lid.
If you guys have the same or the worse scenario do share you experience with the pic.

YOu Broadband: Worst service for Internet Posted: 26 Oct 2013 05:32 AM PDT Worst Service, I dont think this company has any policy, no SLA, I have raised a request on 19th , then since past 3 days my internet is not working and no one in technical team calls , this company is total fraud, just take money and dont give service. Its always better to go for good brands like Airtel and dont come under influence of such cheap plans. Atleast we get for what we pay. here 1200 rs gone withouht the whole month internet and then the reply comes, since you have used it for 1 hour in a day , we wont give you extension. |

Fernando Alonso News and Updates Posted: 26 Oct 2013 05:09 AM PDT Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets on his return to Renault today at Jerez lapping the Spanish circuit a tenth clear of countryman Pedro de la Rosa. It was an impressive return to the team for Alonso as he put in 70 laps with a best time of 1:19.503s. It was a busy day for the McLaren Mercedes team with de la Rosa putting in 111 laps in his MP4-23 while Kovalainen sixth fastest, completed 130 laps in the new machine. Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were third and fifth fastest respectively for Ferrari with Nico Rosberg running well in his FW29 with the fourth fastest time. Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais proved closely matched for Toro Rosso Ferrari with the seventh and eighth fastest times while Mark Webber was ninth best in the Red Bull Renault. Kazuke Nakajima rounded out the top ten in his Williams Toyota ahead of Timo Glock in the leading Toyota TF108 and Giancarlo Fisichella in the Force India Ferrari. Kamui Kobayashi brought up the bottom of the timesheets in the second Toyota while Super Aguri Honda did not run after problems encountered yesterday. Renault continued its preparations for 2008 today with Fernando Alonso taking over driving responsibilities from Nelson Piquet. It was an important day as it was Alonso's first appearance in Renault colours since being confirmed as a 2008 race driver in December. Arriving at the Jerez circuit yesterday evening, the Spaniard spoke to the engineers to understand how the first day of the programme had gone, and to prepare for his two days work with the team. His first day behind the wheel gave the Spaniard the opportunity to drive a car in accordance with the 2008 electronic regulations, and most significantly without traction control. It was also a good opportunity to reacclimatise to the team with which he has worked for six years in the past. At the end of the session, having covered 70 laps, the overall result was an encouraging first day as Alonso topped the timesheet with a best lap of 1:19.503s. Fernando Alonso "The result of my first day in the car is encouraging. I could not wait to drive again, but at the same time I was a bit tentative. I quickly settled back in to the team and everything went well. We made good progress throughout the day, but there is a lot still to do. I had to adapt at first to the car and get used to driving the car without traction control, but I am convinced that that soon I will be used to this and will not remember what is was like to drive with traction control." |

ACT Broadband Bangalore Reviews Posted: 26 Oct 2013 04:10 AM PDT Hello Readers, My name is Vivek Sinha Anurag and i am going to post some "great" work shown by Act Broadband. I applied for ACT Broadband 5 Mbps plan [its having cap value of 35GB after that speed will reduce to 256 kbps] by calling their customer care on 16th Aug 2011. I was surprised to see their lightening fast response as the representative came to my doorstep the very next day and on 17th Aug 2011 Mr Ashitt O.S. collected the money and documents and told me that withing 5 days i will get my connection and i even got sms confirmation that my request no is 142263. Now the real story started. Even after 6 days no one ever bothered to check my request so i called customer care [ 080-42840000] to remind them and i was told that i will get it withing next 2 days. I waited for next 2 days and called them again. I was surprised to learn a new technical term from them that they are "Uploading network" hence its taking time and soon i will get my connection. Since my work was getting affected because of their delay i applied for a BSNL connection too. Now today is 5th September and i am still waiting for the connection and to my surprise i got the BSNL broadband last week. I tried escalating this matter and asked the customer care for any high level contact and they said that i need to mail helpdesk@acttv.in. I emailed them but i got no response. Please note some points regarding ACT broadband before applying ACT broadband 1. They dont have nodal officer/appellate authority [against TRAI rules and i have already escalated this matter to TRAI officials with the help of pgportal.gov.in] 2. They have a customer base of 2500 users in bangalore and they are not able to manage even this small number. 3. They DO NOT PROVIDE STATIC IP [even if they claim to do so] 4. Their customer care service is useless. All you will losse is your balance by talking to them 5. They can "Upload network" [You can imagine the understanding capability of their technicians] 6. They are fast in collecting money but lazy in delivering service Final conclusion: To be on safe side stay away from them else you will suffer like me. Morning shows the day and even before using their service i am suffering. Don't know what will happen when i get the connection and i face any problem that time. |
Star World Premiere on Airtel DTH Posted: 26 Oct 2013 04:02 AM PDT Hi Guys,
Does anybody have a clue as to when will Airtel DTH start the SWP channel on it's network. Tata SKY, Videocon and D2H has already started broadcasting.
I bought Airtel because it used to get new channels frequently but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

The general cricket discussion thread Posted: 26 Oct 2013 01:16 AM PDT Why this thread? So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread... Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread... Will start with one post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Misbah & Taibu seem to competing with each other for the prize of who can bat more defensively.... ---------- After beating NZ in the 3rd ODI with a draing chase... Now Zimbabwe are on verge on possibly upsetting them in the Only Test... 116 needed in 34 Overs (Incl mandatory Overs) with the new ball just taken |
How to activate GPRS internet plan on BSNL mobile connection ? Posted: 26 Oct 2013 12:24 AM PDT Does anyone have any any idea on how to activate GPRS internet plans on BSNL mobile connection ? It is easy on other providers like Airtel as you have to just send a code message and the amount is deducted from the main balance on activation. Is there any such facility for BSNL mobile connection also or we have to run to the BSNL office for activating even small GPRS packs like Rs 14 also ? |

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 08:57 PM PDT Friends, instead of starting new thread for each news, I thought of opening a separate thread for F1 news. So, here I start... Standardising Formula One machinery Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed 15/10/08 A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'. The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show. The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs. Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis. "We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses. An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting. F1 : Standardising Formula One machinery - FIA - F1-Live.com |
