Suggest broadband connection in Karapakkam - Chennai Posted: 07 Sep 2013 01:22 PM PDT I am Staying in Karapakkam, chennai 600097 (Kaliyamman koil 7th street).
I am currently using airtel 3G sim and paying 950 for 6GB plan. Speedwise sometimes not good due to network coverage fluctuations.
I am looking for Broadband connections in my area (Karapakkam), both wired or wireless having good data plans at decent rates.
Like 2 or 4 Mbps plans and FUL around 30GB, and have good coverage.
Please suggest good ISP at this area and if possible provide contact numbers.

Frequest Request Time outs, High pings, disconnects and Attenuation of Router Posted: 07 Sep 2013 12:16 PM PDT Guys, I am on BSNL HOME UL800 (or 750 not sure) plan. Since 30th August , online gaming is unbearable as i get disconnects every few minutes. It was really bad before that too but at least i could play Dota 2 over Steam with lags. Now i cant play at all. I was supposed to get my monthly quota of 6GB or something extra speed but everything is worse now. Here is a screenshot of my ping http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/571/qbyt.jpg/ this is how my Router settings look like. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/xedg.jpg/ My phone line makes hissing noise and i get disconnected every time someone calls or we make a call. What can i do to fix this problem? And how do i avoid disconnects, request time outs and high latency/pings in Dota 2 (over Steam) Since pic not showing- Downstream Upstream Line Coding(Trellis): On On SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 40 77 Attenuation (0.1 dB): 205 169 Output Power (0.1 dBm): 0 127 Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4620 364 |

Information about Honesty Net Solutions Posted: 07 Sep 2013 11:13 AM PDT I wanted to opt for either fivenet or 1&1. Both are unavailable in my area. Now, local cablewala provides Honesty. And, he quoted unlimited 2Mbps plan for 1599 rs/ month, and 15000 rs/ annum. I liked the plan of 4Mbps @Rs. 1100, for 50GB, it is a prepaid plan inclusive of taxes.I dont know the tariffs of Honesty, it is not given on their website as well. if you could tell what the tariffs are or how to contact honesty, if I want to try to get connection directly from them, if they do so? |
In India, if you are less than 18 years old... Posted: 07 Sep 2013 11:07 AM PDT A very serious thought came into my mind last night. I thought I might share it with you guys. In India, if you are less than 18 years old, then you can- 1) rape women 2) kill people 3) do burglary 4) do many crimes And, get away with max 3 years sentence. This is very serious issue. The so called juvenile in delhi gangrape case, despite proven guilty and was told to be the most vicious in that rape got away with just 3 years sentence. He was 17 years and 6 months old while he commited that crime. 17 & half years old committing such heinous crime, should be given death penalty. The law is so outdated and static. Now, in mumbai gangrape case, one accused said he was minor giving his leaving certificate as a proof. I don't know if they really do bone check for determining the age. I really don't trust the machinery in India. But, he could also get away swiftly. So, point I'm trying to make here is, If you are less than 18 years old in India, you can do whatever, and get away very easily. What are your thoughts.... |

Battery drain after updating to 4.3 (nexus 7 wifi 2012) Posted: 07 Sep 2013 10:31 AM PDT Yesterday I updated my nexus 7 wifi to 4.3 and did a full tablet reset. But now the battery drains much faster and It took just 2 hours to go from 100% to 10% after heavy usage.
Even when not used, It drains around 5% in half an hour. Earlier I used to get much better backup but now It got worse. Seems like display is using around 77% battery even when the brightness is set to least possible setting and and with daydream turned off.

Beetel 450 TC1 - Reliance Thunder 699 Posted: 07 Sep 2013 10:15 AM PDT Hey guys ! This is the first time I am posting in here and in vain.I had been using Airtel broadband 3-4 months back and recently I had opted for Reliance broadband with the thunder 699 plan. Though I am pretty much satisfied with the speed, but usual disconnection happen saying " Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP Configuration ". This doesn't bother me much, my main problem is that i cannot acces my router settings i followed the procedure Start > CMD > ipconfig > Default gateway IP , used the IP to try to access router setting in Google Chrome, Mozilla and Internet Explorer but none can connect me to it, my default gateway starts like 123.236.x.x . Note sure if it should start with 123 usually its 192 isnt it ?
Even when i used the modem provided by Reliance "ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series " i couldn't access the router settings , I did a Hard reset on my beetel modem too. The beetel router got configured when i connected modem to the router using 2 lan cables i guess ?, I am able to ping my default gateway through cmd and i use direct ethernet cable into my laptop which is a windows 7 64-bit.
Well i should be able to access my router settings right or is it blocked by reliance ?

Suggest a Multifunction Printer for Home Posted: 07 Sep 2013 08:57 AM PDT I want to buy a printer for home. My usage is mostly photocopying and little printing. I currently use a HP printer that has seen better days. -Printer, Scanner, Copier -Only A4 printing, colour and B/W both. No photo printing. Optional(depends on the price):
I'm open to buying HP and Canon. After sales must be good(I'm happy with the HP one). What do you suggest? And what about canon? |
Faulty laptop received ..What's the procedure? Posted: 07 Sep 2013 08:45 AM PDT Friend ordered a laptop from flipkart. Delivery was fast ..got it in one day. But there seems to be some problem with the laptop. The laptop gets stuck in "Windows is loading" screen. Formatted the whole drive and installed new OS but still the laptop is stuck on "windows is loading screen".
Called flipkart and they directed me to their technical team. Did all the steps they told and they said that laptop is faulty and we'll arrange a pickup.
Flipkart guy came today and took the laptop. When asked about what will happen..they said that we most probably get a replacement ..but It might take one week. :|
Had urgent work with laptop but now we're screwed. |

Asus RT N13U not working with Beam Fiber Posted: 07 Sep 2013 07:40 AM PDT Hi Guys, first of all I am new to this forum. I have been following it for reviews and all for quite a long time. Now I am in trouble so need your help. I bought Asus RT N13U from Flipkart few days back. But it is unable to detect my Beam Fiber, the same fiber works fine when I connect it to my laptop. I contacted Asus guys, they asked me to upadate firmware, setup PPPoE connection, Automatic IP and in the end we manually entered all the details in Static IP. The error message that comes in is "Your Ethernet Cable is not connected". I got the router replaced and the new one is also having same problem. Please help me setup WiFi connection with this router. Thanks a lot. Here is the link to the router I bought: http://www.flipkart.com/asus-rt-n13u-b1-wireless-n-all-in-one-printer-server-router/p/itmd3849zu3sgwxq?pid=RTRD38494HWZVMAK |

Airtel Noida - Frequent Disconnections and Reconnects Posted: 07 Sep 2013 04:21 AM PDT Hi Folks, |
Posted: 07 Sep 2013 04:03 AM PDT I had two BSNL broadband connections, one of which dated back to 2004-5. Since last two years one of my connection was giving problem during rainy season, during rains it used to frequently disconnect and my complaint to them met deaf ears. Once a pro BSNL customer, I finally decided to get rid of them and shift to airtel, I applied for surrender of both my connections and two new connections from airtel. Got the airtel connection the very next day, where BSNL took 10 days and various visits to get one of my connection disconnected, while they refuse to disconnect another one on the pre-text that they need the modem they had provided me to be returned. The modem in question was given to me in 2010 upon opting for 1yr committed period ( I had disconnected my line for a year in 2009, so it was kind of new connection in 2010), their service record shows "FREE" modem, and they saying that I need to return them the "FREE" modem. Hilarious, I know, I went and spoke to the DE who is not willing to listen, spoke to the CO, who says she cant do anything and I need to speak to the DE, at the end frustrated I was, I requested the CO to charge me for the modem in the next bill but at least disconnect the broadband. She says she will try to speak to the DE and get it charged in the next bill and let me know. They don't even understand the meaning of "FREE".
Finally, good riddance ! (provided they disconnect by charging me for the modem Rs 1000/-) |
