Take advantage of night unlimited 2am-8am

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 12:08 PM PDT

Since I am seriously compromised on FUP with BSNL and affordability of the BSNL plans, I was considering taking an additional connection 2Mbps for the night 2am-8am. Got the idea from someone else here. Was wondering if anyone has used it and how they schedule the downloads?

I have a timer plug, which I can make it turn on and off at 2:15 and off at 7:45am. So I can switch on the modem and router automatically. To this I should connect my NAS which should wake on lan and start downloading once the internet comes on. Only issue is my NAS has only one ethernet port and so if I need to use the second internet, then I need to figure out how the NAS can take IP from 2 routers between certain times...

Anyone done this successfully? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 10:54 AM PDT

Why not Samsung Galaxy Tab 7?

The Galaxy Tab 3 has gone official and the third iteration of the company's first Android tablet arrives with a 1.2GHz processor, 8GB or 16GB of storage (with expansion up to 64GB), a 3- and 1.3-megapixel camera array and a substantial 4,000mAh battery. That 7-inch WSVGA (1,024 x 600) TFT display suggests it's likely to be a keenly-priced slate, although we're still waiting to hear on specifics.

The rear-facing camera on the Sony i1 is a 20/13MP camera with an Exmor RS sensor, G Lens, Cybershot, dual LED and Xenon flash, Mobile BIONZ Image processing and interchangeable lens.

Reliance WLL Phone instrument issues

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 09:53 AM PDT

I have a lifetime prepaid reliance WLL phone. Been using it for about 6 years now. The instrument gives a lot of problem and on complaint they come and replace with another faulty piece. As a result the past 3 years I've practically not used it at all. The instrument I have at the moment, ringer doesn't work, battery dies in a minute, speaker phone doesn't work.
Anyone know how to get a new instrument that I can use as a replacement?

Moved to D2H from TataSKY - BIG MISTAKE

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 09:38 AM PDT

I had been a subscriber of TataSKY HD since the time it was launched and decided to move to D2H because of few HD channels and exorbitant pricing of the former. Just got a brand new connection for Videocon D2H HD today

Upon reviewing the picture quality of Videocon D2H HD, I am thoroughly disappointed to say the least. The picture quality is HORRIBLE, the picture is hazy and washed out, colour rendition is extremely poor, images appear ghost like and there is no sharpness at all. If HD channels are of so inferior quality, needless to say that the SD ones are even worse.

I don't know whether this is a problem with the installation, the HD box provided or if the quality of Videocon D2H is so inferior, but I am terribly disappointed with the picture quality of D2H

TataSKY's PQ was light years ahead than that of D2H.

Anyone else who moved to D2H HD from TS HD felt the same or is it just me? Do you think the technicians can fix this or did I just flush 3280 Rs down the drain?

Thanks

The general cricket discussion thread

Why this thread?

So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread...

Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread...

Will start with one post

Halp ..Dead Nexus7 (2012)

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 08:30 AM PDT

I was gaming on my nexus 7 2012 when It suddenly died. Bought in US in Jan this year and I started using this since march. I use original charger for charging. Tab was quite hot since I've been using it since past 2~2 half hours. Wifi with syncing was on and whatsapp and mxplayer pro were in the background.

Waited it to cool a li'll bit and I plugged in the charger..nothing happened. Tried going into bootloader menu but no response. Looks like battery is dead. I remember battery was at 17% since I've checked it just before It went dead. Unlocked nexus 7 with stock Jelly bean 4.3

Checking the web for further steps to proceed. Suggestions appreciated.

HP Omni 10

The Omni 10 is one of the first Bay Trail tablets to be announced, which means it's also one of the first low-power slates to rock a 1,920 x 1,080 display. By the time it ships in November, it will run Windows 8.1, with 64GB of storage under the hood, and 2GB of RAM. All the usual amenities are here as well: a microSD slot and micro-HDMI and micro-USB ports. No word yet on pricing -- or battery life, for that matter.

HP Pavilion 11 x2

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 07:33 AM PDT

http://goo.gl/8CIekv

The Pavilion 11 x2 is the replacement for last year's Envy x2 hybrid, except whereas that system used a poky Atom processor, this one steps up to Intel's Bay Trail series (either Celeron or Pentium). Also, this new model supports up to 4GB of RAM (up from two) and up to 128GB of flash storage (versus 64GB). Still, some specs remain the same: this is an 11.6-inch tablet with a 1,366 x 768 IPS screen and a keyboard dock that has a second battery built-in. Speaking of battery life, HP hasn't said yet what kid of runtime we can expect. Look for it on November 17th in three colors, with a starting price of $599.99 (dock included).

HP Slate 7 Extreme

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 07:32 AM PDT

http://goo.gl/8CIekv

Yep, another 7-inch tablet (that makes three now for HP). Unlike either the Slate 7 or 7 HD, though, this one has a brand-name processor inside, Tegra 4. In addition to having all the gaming credentials of a regular Tegra tablet, the Slate 7 Extreme comes with a stylus, which you can stow in a slot on the side of the device. Don't get too excited, though: that 1,280 x 800 screen doesn't have an active digitizer, so you won't be getting any sort of pressure-sensitive pen input here.

HP Slate 7 HD - HP Slate 10 HD

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 07:31 AM PDT

http://goo.gl/8CIekv

The Slate 7 HD and Slate 10 HD deserve to be lumped into the same paragraph: they share the same industrial design, along with the same specs. Both tablets have 1,280 x 800 IPS screens, a nine-hour battery, an unspecified dual-core processor, Beats Audio and optional 4G connectivity, courtesy of T-Mobile. Again, no word on pricing, though HP did give us a hint about the Slate 7 HD: it won't be replacing the original Slate 7, so expect this new one to be priced a good deal higher.

HP Slate 8 Pro

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 07:31 AM PDT

http://goo.gl/8CIekv

As you've no doubt already guessed, the Slate 8 Pro is an 8-inch tablet -- the first HP has ever made. In particular, with a 7.98-inch display and a 4:3 aspect ratio, it's just about the same size as the iPad mini. All told, it's the closest thing to a flagship of the tablets listed here, what with its Tegra 4 processor and dual 8MP / 2MP cameras. It also has a fairly pixel-dense screen for a tablet this size, with a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 -- a clear improvement over the iPad mini. Other specs you might care about: it has a microSD slot, micro-HDMI output and a standard micro-USB socket for charging.
