It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Posted: 14 Sep 2013 12:44 PM PDT It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Finished the first season. Looks awful. Does it get better or it is one of those shows which does well for no good reason? Danny Devito has not arrived yet. |

Nokia manufactured Android smartphones were once under development Posted: 14 Sep 2013 11:08 AM PDT http://www.readability.com/articles/rcowrg9m
Before Microsoft reached a deal to buy Nokia's phone business, there was a possibility that Nokia could have switched its smartphones to Google's Android operating system sometime after late 2014. A team within Nokia had Android up and running on the company's Lumia handsets well before Microsoft and Nokia began negotiating Microsoft's $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia's mobile phone and services business, according to two people briefed on the effort who declined to be identified because the project was confidential. Microsoft executives were aware of the existence of the project, these people said.

3G Watchdog settings for Airtel 3G Posted: 14 Sep 2013 09:56 AM PDT These are the billing rules I used on Vodafone 3G. Are they correct for Airtel? Cause 3GW counts wrong data usage. Right now it has counted about 100 MB more. |

Posted: 14 Sep 2013 09:27 AM PDT Okay let me get my point across quickly .. I currently get 0.85 mbps upload speed with airtel |
Posted: 14 Sep 2013 09:26 AM PDT I am on 850Rupees 10gb 2mbps plan. My monthly usage is around 15-18gb (I do not require more than 2mbps). What I do is once my 10gb is over around 20th of each month, I use SmartBytes at night to get 1hours of 2mbps at 20rupees (gives me around 500mb in 1 hour). This turns out to be 200 rupees for 5 gb extra theoretically.
I want to ask you guys - does it make sense to get a 15gb 2mbps plan sold for 1100rs, or maybe 30gb 2mbps for 1400rs?
PS: SpeedonDemand isnt even working anymore !! |

Any experiences with LED Bulbs? Posted: 14 Sep 2013 09:12 AM PDT Saw LED Bulbs in the local market today. The shopkeeper was selling the 1W unit for around 250 bucks. This was from a local manufacturer. He also had imported units available. 3W units were priced at around 1250 rupees. Wanted to know if any one here has experience using them. Which brand to purchase? And what W rating is suitable for let's say a 40W Tube Light or CFLs? Local units had a six month warranty. I forgot to ask about the warranty on imported units. Flipkart does not seem to have them. Amazon India prices are too high. |

Broadband in Sector-14 Gurgaon Posted: 14 Sep 2013 08:58 AM PDT I'm an Airtel user (Plan Turbo 15gb). Things are pretty much cool till the FUP is not hit. My place is high on data consumption. The 15gb thingy is exhausted within first 10 days itself (all thanks to 3 laptops and 4 data guzzling smart phones)
I stay in sector 14 Gurgaon and have been searching for another broadband connection lately.
Tikona guy came up and said 'Site not feasible' You broadband doesnot provide services here Tata broadband does not provide services in my sector Hathway didnt respond back Sify's customer service nos always say our sowrking hours are from 8am to 10pm (even when i call them during day) Nextra also doesnt provide service in the area BSNL doesnt have any interesting plan worth looking forward to Now, Reliance. I had booked a connection with them considering no fup funda and all, paid him throgh a cheque, the installation guy calls me during office hours and says 'connection lagane kab aana hai' and all. I gave him time for a particular day when i was on leave, the guy didnt turn up that day. Again made me rush from office other day and again some of his gyaan baazi. The sales guy has no say in the organisation, and the installation guys work on their own pace. Luckily, i got the cheque stopped when all these dramas started. I have marked a mail to their higher ups in the organisation a week ago (even Anil Ambani is being CCed) but havent recieved any feedback from them till now.
Now can anyone pleaseeeeeee help me out in getting a broadband connection for my place. Its really super irritating to surf even facebook at downgraded speeds of 256kbps. The option of moving to higher plan of Airtel is getting a bit costly.
Help and suggestions appreciated by the fellow forum members. Cheers!! |

Posted: 14 Sep 2013 06:55 AM PDT Airtel called me today and said since I'd taken Smartbytes for 12gb last month, they wanted to offer 125 fup plan(80gb now) at the same speed(8mbps) for 50rs extra.
I also heard they are giving 3g at 2g rates in my area these days. |

Hathway Selects STMicroelectronics to Power its High-Definition Set-Top Boxes Posted: 14 Sep 2013 06:06 AM PDT |
Posted: 14 Sep 2013 05:47 AM PDT I had taken this connection early feb after getting FUPed by Airtel. Initially had contacted all the BB vendors but realised that my local cable operator is providing BB from Spectranet. I had also called spectranet but never got a callback from them till now Anyways the cable operator mentioned the plans which were a bit different from the details mentioned in the spectranet site but I was skeptical and asked him for a day of demo. After initial hesitation (many people just used up demo, never took the connection) he went ahead and gave a cable connection to my desktop with one day of demo. The process took just 10 minutes! The plans I was offered were 512 kbps unlimited @699 and 1 mbps+ unlimited @ 999 all inclusive. I confirmed from them many a times and he was adamant that indeed there was no FUP. I went ahead with the 1 mbps+ plan, confirmed it after a day of demo and paid him by cheque. The overall speed is really good and some one who has comeback from 4 years of airtel I never found any issues with the speed at all and the service was good. generally the speed in torrents will be around 150 KBPS and around 220 KBPS if it is an english movie. IDM gives me a good speed of around 230 KBPS. Youtube speeds are generally good but sometimes it struggles for videos in 360p. Streaming is not as good as download speeds but u wont find issues watching 360p videos. The turnaround for this as given by iChaitanya is to use Airtel DNS servers which I never used as I was satisfied with the speeds. I expected downtime only twice in almost 1 month of usage. Both the times the cable operator office responded well and was done within the timeframe mentioned. Once it was 2 hrs and 10 mins the other time. The biggest question was regarding the FUP. Unfortunately as I am generally out of city for 5-6 days a month and at office during day times coupled with no hard disk space I did not download much to check it. I downloaded only around 40 GB+till now so cant tell what is the exact FUP. I am very satisfied with speeds and definitely happy to leave Airtel which had set FUP of 50 GB for me then decreased it to 15 GB suddenly for a plan costing me 1212 rupees (incl taxes) |

VOD not working through WiFi Netgear Dongle Posted: 14 Sep 2013 02:43 AM PDT I've configured my WiFi Netgear Dongle (Netgear WNCE2001) to my WiFi Internet connection. Dongle successfully connects to the WiFi router and I'm able to browse the internet using that. Router is configured with DHCP enabled in PPPoE mode. When I connect to the Tata Sky HD+ STB, the IP connection is showing successful and interestingly it's listing all the available titles under VOD. But if I give any programme for download, it never downloads. It always stuck at 0%. I've tried connecting STB directly to the router using ethernet cable. There is absolutely no issue with downloading and everything works fine. So it cannot be direct issue with the ISP provider. May not be any issue with STB also, since it's downloading when connected directly. As I mentioned before, I tried connecting to internet using the dongle, there is no issue with that browsing. So I'm not suspecting any issue with Dongle able to work with ISP provider. Can anyone help me point out where else can it go wrong? Am I missing something here?? ISP: ACT broadband Router: Linksys WRT120N WiFi Ethernet Bridge: Netgear WNCE20001 STB: Tatasky HD+ |
