Information about Honesty Net Solutions

Posted: 31 Aug 2013 11:21 AM PDT

I wanted to opt for either fivenet or 1&1. Both are unavailable in my area. Now, local cablewala provides Honesty. And, he quoted unlimited 2Mbps plan for 1599 rs/ month, and 15000 rs/ annum.  I liked the plan of 4Mbps @Rs. 1100, for 50GB, it is a prepaid plan inclusive of taxes.I dont know the tariffs of Honesty, it is not given on their website as well. if you could tell what the tariffs are or how to contact honesty, if I want to try to get connection directly from them, if they do so?

Using Other Modem with Tikona

Posted: 31 Aug 2013 10:25 AM PDT

Hi ,
Currently I am on 4mbps Plan (950) BSNL .I am planning to shift to Tikona (for better pings and speed plus Affordable Plans )
So I am having two questions :

1. I own a Type-2 Modem (DNA-A211i Wifi + 4 LAN Ports ) purchased at the time of installation . It has 1 RJ11 Port and 4 LAN Ports .

I want to know that Can I use this modem as a Wifi Access Point on Tikona ?
If yes then I will revert back later for asking configuration. If NO , then kindly Suggest me an affordable and powerful Wifi Router ( with better range )

2. I would also like to get reviews from existing Tikona customers regarding Speed, reliability , Ping and Support .
If possible kindly post/attach a speedtest.net result with (Joister Mumbai Server ) .
Pings are important for me as I am a gamer and usually play CS .

Apart from this I would like to know how to increase the Effective range of Wifi .. I purchased a new smartphone but my Wifi Signal just drops to 20% after 2 walls ( Hardly 4-5meters ) and The internet does not works and I face timeouts.
After searching few websites , I found that the Advance Setting of Wifi Router can be tweaked to improve range . If any one have any idea regarding this, please do help me :) I already tried reducing Beacon Interval and Multicast Rate but No Luck .

ACT Broadband Bangalore Reviews

Posted: 31 Aug 2013 08:30 AM PDT

Hello Readers,

My name is Vivek Sinha Anurag and i am going to post some "great" work shown by Act Broadband.

I applied for ACT Broadband 5 Mbps plan [its having cap value of 35GB after that speed will reduce to 256 kbps] by calling their customer care on 16th Aug 2011. I was surprised to see their lightening fast response as the representative came to my doorstep the very next day and on 17th Aug 2011 Mr Ashitt O.S. collected the money and documents and told me that withing 5 days i will get my connection and i even got sms confirmation that my request no is 142263.

Now the real story started. Even after 6 days no one ever bothered to check my request so i called customer care [ 080-42840000] to remind them and i was told that i will get it withing next 2 days. I waited for next 2 days and called them again.

I was surprised to learn a new technical term from them that they are "Uploading network" hence its taking time and soon i will get my connection. Since my work was getting affected because of their delay i applied for a BSNL connection too. Now today is 5th September and i am still waiting for the connection and to my surprise i got the BSNL broadband last week.

I tried escalating this matter and asked the customer care for any high level contact and they said that i need to mail helpdesk@acttv.in. I emailed them but i got no response.

Please note some points regarding ACT broadband before applying ACT broadband
1. They dont have nodal officer/appellate authority [against TRAI rules and i have already escalated this matter to TRAI officials with the help of pgportal.gov.in]
2. They have a customer base of 2500 users in bangalore and they are not able to manage even this small number.
3. They DO NOT PROVIDE STATIC IP [even if they claim to do so]
4. Their customer care service is useless. All you will losse is your balance by talking to them
5. They can "Upload network" [You can imagine the understanding capability of their technicians]
6. They are fast in collecting money but lazy in delivering service

Final conclusion: To be on safe side stay away from them else you will suffer like me. Morning shows the day and even before using their service i am suffering. Don't know what will happen when i get the connection and i face any problem that time.

Standardising Formula One machinery
Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed
15/10/08

A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'.

The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show.

The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs.

Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis.

"We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses.

An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting.

Mallya delighted with Fisichella's performance
Force India looks set to step up its relationship with Ferrari for 2009. Not only will the Silverstone based team continue to use a customer engine built by the famous Italian marque next year, Force India is reportedly planning to run a KERS energy-recovery system that is also developed by Maranello-based Ferrari.

"We will run a Ferrari engine and the electronics of Magneti Marelli," team co-owner Vijay Mallya, apparently referring to the introduction next year of a system that will store and re-use energy captured under braking, is quoted as saying by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

Ferrari confirmed recently that its engine and electronics departments have been merged ahead of the major regulation change for 2009.

Force India, however, will continue to build its own gearbox, and the outfit's first 'quick shift' transmission will be introduced at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August.

Mallya said he was delighted in Bahrain, where Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella finished ahead of the highly rated McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton.

"I could not hide my laughter,:hysterical:" the Indian billionaire said. "In Bahrain, our team made one more step forwards."

Anyone here using YOU Broadband in Pune ?

Posted: 30 Aug 2013 07:35 PM PDT

I am now in need of a broadband provider at my home in Pune. I was checking if 3G would be VFM but supposedly it is not for me. Checked with airtel and my place is not "feasible" as per them. I don't have an option of BSNL so that is out too. The only option supposedly is available is YOU telecom.
Is there anyone here using YOU Broadband in Pune or somewhere else ?
I was planning to get their

Either the YOU hurricane or the YOU Trident plan, lowest in them respectively.

How consistent is the connection and speed ? Downtimes ?
I read few threads here and people seem to be having issues with speed mainly/ I am ok if i don't get full 12 Mbps or 10 Mbps but consistent connection and low / no downtime is more important.

Please suggest if it is worth going for YOU broadband ?
