So, I am going for it probably in couple of weeks ( still haven't called them though as I just shifted to my new place.

 

I have got ZTE ZXDSL 531B series one which I got from BSNL some like 5 years back. Will it work with the new thunder plans and will give me best speeds ? 

 

I used to use this with my BSNL 650 Combo plan ( used it till 2011 ) which used to give me 280kb/s ( 2mbps unlimited night plan ) and this worked fine with it.

 

I don't want to listen to reliance people saying to me "hey, this won't work with new connection, u need to buy new one" scam. So let me know peeps.

 

Also, I have lost the adapter for it, so anyone mind linking me to ebay.in or flipkart to buy a new one?

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to various ministries of the central government on a PIL seeking modification of internet laws to make watching pornography a non-bailable offence.

A bench of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and Justices A R Dave and Vikramjit Sen issued notice on Kamlesh Vaswani's petition saying existing laws had failed to prohibit proliferation of internet pornography and alleged that it was affecting the younger generation and resulting in increasing sexual assaults on women.

 

Appearing for the petitioner, senior advocate M N Krishnamani said the government urgently needed to take pro-active steps to block all pornographic websites as they were affecting the "peace of mind, health and wellness, happiness and human potential".

Hi.. I having a problem right now.

 

I have a plan for 8 GB 2MBPS and after 8GB 512 KBPS unlimited. I always get upload speed around 40-50 KBPS on 2 MBPS and 512 KBPS both connection.

 

Today after 4 PM i am getting upload speed around 5 KBPS. I don't know what happening here. Is anyone else having same problem or BSNL decreased the speed for my plan? Please anyone help me...

I am using Airtel broadband+fixedline connection. I wish to setup wifi at my home (range-30-40 ft). I could just figure out that I have a Beetel 110BX1 ADLS2 modem+router. I have no idea what this means! Can somehow please suggest do I need to buy only a router or a modem+router. Whatever be the case, please suggest the best combination for Airtel. Budget is not a constraint.

Quit MTNL. MTNL doesnt know how to fix DNS issue. (Its been 2 months now.. still problem persists.) 

Either go with Airtel or Joister Broadband.

Hi All,

I am going to explain how to update firmware for crashed, corrupted mode for Dlink Modem below:-

I have purchased DSL-2520u having DDNS Feature in mind, but i was sad (human tendency) when i couldn't see such features.

Day1
I tried all forums and DLink for updated Firmware. After Several calls to Dlink (Thanks for their waiting time on IVRS) said they have latest firmware which include DDNS and additional Security features. I was so happy to hear that. They even sent me Firmware via email.

I have tried upgraded with given firmware via web gui/TFTP [Update Software] and it was failing with err: Fatal error during image uploading. .It was bit frustrating.

Day2.
I called DLink again in morning . They resent same firmware hinking that last image is not good. I retried and again same err
Again i called Dlink[20 mins wait every time on fone] , One of Exec said, if it's not upgrading this way then i will have to corrupt Firmware intentionally. He told me process as well on phone.

HOW TO ?

1. Connect your modem to PC/Laptop using ethernet cable.
2. Assign Static Ip to PC/Laptop to avoid issue later. (It took 2 hrs for me to fig out , Dlink din't tell me about this)
IP 192.168.1.2, SM, 255.255.255.0, DG ,192.168.1.1
3. Download Firmware in C:/Firmware [Sent by Dlink]
4. Check if you can browse 192.168.1.1 [Going fwd :- WEB GUI]
5. Take configuration Back up of modem into your PC/Laptop to reduce reconfiguration. Managament >> Settings >> Backup
6. Now, take a paper clip - Press Reset button for 1 Min at rear side, every 10-15 secs , Please unplug and replug power cords into. Modem will restart itself and u will see only Strong Constant Red Light & Etherenet port light if connected. This mode is called Crash Recovery Mode. if power light turns into green and you are able to see normal reset , then repeat this step again.
7. Now try browsing 192.168.1.1 with default user/passwd.
8. If u see Quick setup page , then repeat Step 6 else step 9.
9. If you see message saying that welcome to upgrade page and you see one browse path and Update button.
a) Pl select path for firmware
Please submit update button.
10. It will take 2 mins to flash new firmware.
11. You will see DDNS & extra sec features.

This process should be followed only when normal updates are not working or firmware are corrupted or crashed. and you see constant Red light on box and not turning into green.

The government will soon ask all its employees to stop using Google's Gmail for official communication, a move intended to increase security of confidential government information after revelations of widespread cyberspying by the US. A senior official in the ministry of communications and information technology said the government plans to send a formal notification to nearly 5 lakh employees barring them from email service providers such as Gmail that have their servers in the US, and instead asking them to stick to the official email service provided by India's National Informatics Centre.

"Gmail data of Indian users resides in other countries as the servers are located outside. Currently, we are looking to address this in the government domain, where there are large amounts of critical data," said J Satyanarayana, secretary in the department of electronics and information technology.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday expressed concerns over the falling rupee and blamed external forces for the slowdown in the Indian economy. The Prime Minister claimed that it was not only the Indian economy that is going through a turbulent phase but also other developing countries which had seen their economies facing tough times. "What triggered the sharp depreciation in the rupee value are certain external forces. Global factors like tension in Syria and prospects of US tapering its federal policy also had an impact," Manmohan Singh said while making a statement on the economy in Parliament. He also urged people to control the consumption of gold and oil to control the burgeoning Current Account Deficit. "We need to reduce our appetite for gold and economise the use of petroleum products and take steps to increase our exports," Singh said. Noting that the rupee has also been hit due to the Current Account Deficit, the Prime Minister assured that the government will take steps to restrict the fiscal deficit. "The Government will do whatever is necessary to contain the fiscal deficit to 4.8 per cent this year," Singh said.

New Delhi: Arguably the most successful game show in Indian television Kaun Banega Crorepati was on Thursday adjudged unfair in certain aspects by the National Consumer Commission which imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on broadcaster Star TV and the sponsor Airtel.

"Star Plus TV and Bharti Airtel Limited are held to have violated the provisions of Consumer Protection Act in conducting the 'Har Seat Hot Seat' (HSHS) contest which was in conjunction with the main television show Kaun Banega Crorepati and thereby adopted unfair trade practice," the Commission presided by Justice M B Shah said.

The Commission, also comprising members Rajyalakshmi Rao and Anupam Dasgupta, held that in 52 episodes of KBC-3 the telecom company and the channel made a profit of Rs 8.12 crore out of the SMSes sent by viewers to participate in the contest.

"Considering the large amount of profit earned and large number of consumers affected, this would be a fit case for imposing punitive damage of Rs 1 crore," it said.

Popular TV game show KBC, hosted by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan between January 22 to April 19, 2007, was sponsored by Airtel.

My ACT story has been painful to say the least.

This has been the timeline (dates might be off by a day or two):

May 21st: I applied for the connection. The sales rep came to my house and collected approximately Rs. 4100/- for their 50mbps plan, 250 GB Plan. I was told I will be getting the connection in the next 7 working days

May 25th-May 29th: I didn't hear anything from ACT. Thus, I called them back. They did not even have my customer ID. The sales representative from Cox Town, had not filed my application. His name is Manju (+919945595541)

May 29th: I repeatedly kept calling Manju (who didn't even answer my calls once after taking the advance), and Customer Service. I kept Manju's number on repeat dial. After 50+ calls, finally he SMSd back saying that he will get his part done. I finally received a text from ACT saying that they received my money. I was given a new date (7 working days more)

June 4th - June 11th: I called up ACT customer service again, since I hadn't heard anything from them. I posted on their FB page, and must have called customer service at least 20 times. (average of 2-3 times daily). Again, nothing! The nodal officers' number doesn't work. Everyday I was given the same answer : In the mornings - "sir, today evening it will be done for sure", and in the evening - "sir, tomorrow morning it will be done for sure"

June 12th: Finally, I could reach Kiran (Nodal officer), who promised the connection would be done in 24 hours (I had also e-mailed Kiran) 
June 13th: I get the connection at my home. 18 working days (24 normal days) after paying the deposit. This is not where the story ends. 

July 2nd: In the night, the connection stops working. 

July 3rd: Early morning I call up CS, file a complain. I am told that the connection will be fixed within 24 business hours

July 4th-July 5th: I hear nothing from ACT at all. I called up CS every day - and I am given the same answer "sir, they are fixing it right away. It will be done in a few hours". On July 5th, I lost patience, and refused to hang up till the guy escalated the call. He escalates the call to Kiran (Nodal officer).  Kiran promises to call back in 10 minutes. In couple of hours, the issue is fixed, and my internet is up and running again. I am told, this will never happen again.

July 6th: Evening: Internet stops working again! 

July 7th: I call up CS. They tell me that the issue will be fixed permanently this time. The issue is resolved later in the day (at around 7 PM)

July 9th (Today): I notice in the morning that my internet is down again. I call up CS again. They tell me that the issue will be resolved today, permanently. I try to reach Kiran, but he is unavailable.

 

Thankfully I didn't disconnect my Airtel 4mbps (I wanted ACT since Airtel doesn't have 16mbps in my area). I will wait for a few days, and if the next 2 weeks I face the same connectivity issues - I will disconnect the line. I will strongly advise people to not go for ACT. 

 

Is this entire company out there to rob us with false claims?
