Posted: 05 Jan 2011 10:21 PM PST What is seen from the outside tells a story, but in the case of the 1959 Costin Jaguar, it’s more what is not seen that is of even greater interest. Lot 112 at this year’s auction is a Jaguar chassis fitted onto the frame of an ERA grand prix car dating back to 1939. |
Esquire Magazine’s “Ultimate Bachelor Pad” Posted: 05 Jan 2011 09:22 PM PST Since 2003, Esquire Magazine has taken a different house and turned it into a design showcase every year, calling it the "Ultimate Bachelor Pad". The house is used to host some of the year's biggest charity and celebrity events and, since it gets terrific exposure, the property is later listed for sale. Esquire's Ultimate Bachelor Pad of this year is located in the Doheny Estates in the Hollywood Hills and it's going to be listed for .9 million. The house has 9,000 square-foot and it was completely rebuilt from the ground up and newly outfitted by top designers. The home was transformed into a modern indoor-outdoor lifestyle property for Esquire by the design eye of Elaine Culotti of Porta Bella. It features 11 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, an infinity pool, a two story pool, hot tub and gym, a 0,000 music studio with state of the art recording equipment, a 0,000 flight simulator that responds to body movements, an interactive 65″ multi-touch video wall from Obscura Digital featuring Hard Rock memorabilia and many, many other attractions. The home will be premiered in October 15 with a charity event for the International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian relief organization. The event will be hosted by Sienna Miller, Jude Law and Felicity Huffman and many celebrities are expected to be in attendance. All events hosted by the Esquire house are entered by invitation only and attract a mix of celebrities and high profile people but Esquire will also present this home to those who aren't invited in. The DIY network will show in January a TV show on re-making of this Esquire House. Other top designers such as Mark Cutler, Annette English, Lonni Paul or Ron Boren also contributed to this wonderful Esquire home. |

Rinspeed BamBoo concept pops its top with artist Jamez Rizzi Posted: 05 Jan 2011 07:15 PM PST Filed under: Concept Cars, Convertible, Geneva Motor Show, Design/Style, Electric, MISC Rinspeed BamBoo – Click above for high-res image gallery There’s a lot of adjectives you could ascribe to Rinspeed’s wild creations. After all, each one is as different from the one that came before as it is from any other car on the road or the show stand. So if we had to pick one, it would be “unique.” And the latest Geneva-bound BamBoo concept car is no exception. Initially released about a month back, the BamBoo is an off-beat concept for an easy-going car-about-town designed for vacation homes and resort destinations. A grown-up golf cart is what the quirky Swiss designer itself calls the vehicle. But in case it wasn’t unique enough, Rinspeed has now taken measures to make it even more so. Teaming up with pop artist James Rizzi, the BamBoo has been turned into the kind of rolling canvas we know as an Art Car. But despite the image above, as well as the usual formula that calls for an all-enveloping design, by the time the veil lifts at the Geneva Palexpo in March, Rizzi will have applied his – there’s that word again – unique talents only to the vehicle’s inflatable roof surface. There will also be a little bird on the B pillar that, like a mood ring, is supposed to convey the occupants’ disposition to the world passing them by. Follow the jump for the full press release.
