Posted: 08 Dec 2010 12:39 PM PST My little 502T was acting up after working tirelessly for 5 years!. I ran the upgrade. Well, not really an upgrade but rather a 're-install' of the firmware. It now works good as new : ) However, I could only get the web interface the first time to enter the login information. And after that the IP 192.168.1.1 just does not open in ANY browser, on ANY OS!!! The default gateway shows as 192.168.1.1 and I can ping it. Any ideas? ---------- Post added at 02:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 AM ---------- Re-installed it AGAIN... and it's back to normal : ) |

Why are we seeing letter box in LCD TVs? Posted: 08 Dec 2010 12:18 PM PST well . . . for eg. i have an airtel HD box. it lets me choose which aspect ratio i want to view television. 16:9 or 4:3 etc . . if i select 4:3 then there are 2 huge vertical letterboxes on right and left sides and the picture resembles what it would appear as on a square crt. i use 16:9 and it is stretched to fit screen. so the STB does have the ability to choose aspect ratios. the problem lies in the broadcast signal and the aspect ratio it is transmitted in. to suggest that different signals should be broadcasted and an appropriate one could be selected by the STB sounds highly unfeasible (if possible at all). Consider the scarce spectrum resources while thinking of multiple broadcast signals and additional transponder cost which would eventually be passed on to consumers. |

Vodafone 3G Network Goes Live Over Places Posted: 08 Dec 2010 11:07 AM PST Well I have usb 3g READY stick, lol, right now im on 599INR-Ulimited(using Edge for now till 3g starts). This is a new connection. So got a Welcome call from Cust care, they said for 12 months it will be on 599INR Ul, Then there after it wil shift to 899INR Ulimited. So according to what they said to me, Im Asuming that Vodafone price for UL downloads wud be 899 a month+ tax(10.30%). About 3g, even vodafone has started their new website, BETA, which has 3g information shared just like airtel, reliance gsm nd others. |

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:45 AM PST Quote: 1. No of user 2. Signal strength 3. Distance from tower 4. Type of modem used Optimum distance should be under 3kms from the tower, beyond that you may face issues. The table suggested by Sierra..... -113 dBm......................... No coverage / signal -112 dBm to -101 dBm ...... Unacceptable coverage -100 dBm to -91 dBm ........ Weak -90 dBm to -81 dBm .......... Moderate -80 dbm ( and below ) ....... Good coverage I haven't checked the signals at home but at my workplace i am having weak signals around -93dBm. I am getting very low speeds here but no disconnections. At home the signal strength is better and speeds are much high. |

Few questions about Reliance Wireline (Broadband) internet Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:38 AM PST Arunoday I am pretty sure about Reliance Wired line - its a decent service, with a decent CC (Surprising, right??) I dont have much knowledge of that WiMax thing......but will tell u a thing - If you have gone thru our past discussions a bit - then you would have read that this Wired line itself is based on Wimax......i havent checked it for my own, but flame seems to have a better idea of it......theres a "Hub" like thing placed at the top of buildings, from where Wires are connected into your home..... So, they call it Wired line. That was the technical part......so that if they say Wimax, then it would be Wiredline only - but do confirm it with them!! And, about the pure Wireless connection, which is separate thing - its called "Reliance Netconnect" - i dont have any idea..... For that, you need to go to that forum. But since you are in Delhi, this Wired thing should be available for u - just call up their CC, and ask for it........ Theres no FUP, no major downtimes as well - once in a while if it does go off, then call up the CC, and it gets rectified immediately. In cases of major issues, may be at max a day or 2...... But believe me, no FUP, and no throttling here. And Download speed is equal to Upload speed....... |
