Hi,

I have one Acer 21.5" LCD Monitor with HDMI, DVI and VGA port on back panel. My concern is to make the LCD Monitor into HD TV through TATA SKY HD Set top Box by connecting External speaker (Creative SBS A235 2.1 Channel).

I need your help for this connection however I tried a connection i.e. set top box HDMI out>>Monitor HDMI In and started receiving video but for audio my connection was unsuccessful. I tried for Audio, STB RCA(Red & white) out>>>RCA (Red 7 White) two Pin In to 3.5mm In Converted Cable>>3.5mm out speaker. But zoo sound is coming out from speaker. Please help for the audio connection if I am wrong somewhere kindly correct me.

Employees of the troubled handset maker Nokia have said the Voluntary Retirement Scheme which came into effect from today should be optional, alleging it was being forced on them.
"There are about 8,000 workers employed at the Sriperumbudur Nokia facility, which has been scaling down its operations and announced VRS for the workforce. But the management compelling the workers to accept the scheme has enraged them", a leader from the employees union told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The employees at a meeting here today decided to seek the intervention of Tamil Nadu government to strictly direct the management to make the VRS scheme optional and not mandatory.

I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.

Some things to consider before/after taking a new VDSL connection

SNR margins (SNRM)
Below 9 dB : Poor experience with lots of HEC and CRC errors. Line will disconnect frequently.
9 - 11  dB : Ok but not ideal. Disconnections will be there if some unexpected variance is introduced by rains, humidity in the wire.
12 - 16  dB : Ideal and realistic value. Expect almost no disconnections as the line has more wiggle room for tolerating variances.
17 dB and up : God Mode. Lucky few get this on VDSL synced at 30 mbps and up. So far I have seen various stats and no one has reported this SNRM (That is because VDSL sync rates are always higher)

Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.

Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here)

Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates.

I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.

Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

I am giving it a second try. I listed my 2012 Google Nexus 7 3G 2 days ago. Just got one query. But as expected, it was quite absurd. He wants me to drop the price 40%. Claims to have Google as his client. Says Google is offering him the 2013 edition of the 3G variant for Rs. 18000 (US price is going to be above Rs. 22000). It's fun. I told him to get it because it is an excellent deal. He said he is planning on getting that but wanted a backup device for testing. I am assuming he is an Android developer and if he is right, Google seems to be offering the new model at pretty amazing prices to developers here in India even before it is launched in the US market.

THought I'll give it a try by ordering small item. Also I deleted the debit card after I made the purchase from my account ..now I dont know where the refund will be given.

The film titled Humshakals directed by Sajid Khan will feature Saif in an out and out comic avatar. Hi, Im currenty on BSNL HOME COMBO ULD950 plan in Visakhapatnam with speed of 8Mbps upto 60GB and 2Mbps after that. The problem is, the speeds are mostly stuck at 2Mbps 80-90% of the time and the remaining time i get 8Mbps speed. I called BSNL numerous times and the guy says he has changed my speed to 8Mbps. He says he doesnt know why Im not getting speeds and is getting irritated with my repeated calling. Im using Huawei Quidway WA1003A modem from BSNL and ASUS RTN13U VERB1 router. Eve if i connect directly to the modem with LAN cable, the situation is same. Please help me out as Im at a loss as to what to do.
