Running a generic poll on Aam Aadmi Party

Posted: 14 Feb 2014 11:57 AM PST

Just trying to get an idea about how many people think they are good people trying to do something nice. Or a fraudy party created as a B-Team of Congress or whatever.

We can ignore the justification. Just a yes or no poll. Cheers.

When will BSNL launch new broadband plans?

Posted: 14 Feb 2014 09:46 AM PST

hi Guys,

Its frustrating that BSNL is yet to launch truly unlimited 1/2/4 Mbps plans for < 1500Rs. Its perpetually offering 512Kbps speeds from last 4-5 years. Not only that, they are not even offering speed boost say after 6pm like MTNL does. Its not only about downloading torrents. Even if i want to watch Youtube files, I am not able to with 512kbps. They should start offering speed boost to 2/4Mbps at 6pm to 8am slot if offering the same at daytime is not possible. What can we do in this situation ? Can we all raise a CRM ticket at selfcare portal to demand this ?

Goodbye World

James and Lily live off the grid, raising their young daughter in a cocoon of comfort and sustainability. When a mysterious mass text ripples its way across the country, triggering a crippling, apocalyptic cyber attack, their home transitions from sheltered modern oasis to a fortress for the estranged old friends that show up at their door for protection and community. The unexpected reunion--abundant with revelry and remembrances, generously enhanced by organic wine and weed--is quickly undermined by the slights of the past, the spark of lingering flirtations and the threat of a locally grown new world order. Balancing tense confrontations with slivers of levity, director Denis Henry Hennelly pinpoints a future where ideology explodes into action in every area.

Woo.

A gripping mix of friendship, violence and redemption erupts in the contemporary South in this adaptation of Larry Brown's novel, celebrated at once for its grit and its deeply moving core. Directed by David Gordon Green, JOE film brings Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage back to his indie roots in the title role as the hard-living, hot-tempered, ex-con Joe Ransom, who is just trying to dodge his instincts for trouble -- until he meets a hard-luck kid, (MUD's Tye Sheridan) who awakens in him a fierce and tender-hearted protector. With a screenplay by Gary Hawkins, JOE is based on the novel by the late Larry Brown (Big Bad Love, Facing the Moon), the former Mississippi firefighter renowned for his powerful, gothic storytelling and universal themes of honor, desperation and moral rectitude.

MS staff

There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away."

Is Windows a virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
They replicate quickly Okay, Windows does that

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so okay, Windows does that

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk Okay, Windows does that, too

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems Sigh... Windows does that, too

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware Yup, that's with Windows, too

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature

So, Windows is *not* a virus

Feedback on Smartlink broadband [Mumbai]

Posted: 14 Feb 2014 06:48 AM PST

Hello everyone!

a friend of mine lives at Bhandup, Mumbai. he was in search of an ISP, when he came to know of the name in subject. the name was new for me too, hence did a google search. couldn't find much, except some mixed feedback on justdial (can't say for sure about authenticity of the feedback there). the ISP is based in Powai, and is a cable net provider. they have attractive plans (unltd), esp. the newly introduced 4 mbps unltd plan in just 1000/-. sounds too good to be true (and hence seems dubious)!

could anyone having any experience with them please provide some suggestions?

thanks!

Jon von Tetzchner on the new Opera

Posted: 14 Feb 2014 06:26 AM PST

Opera founder von Tetzchner: It's all gone to crap since I quit • The Register

"You need to have something unique and different - and Opera had that. It had all those deals on TVs and embedded. When I quit we had 60m desktop users and were on a nice growth path. We'd have blown through 100m by this time if we'd improved on the browser. Now it's down to 50m and most people are still on [the Presto-based] Opera 12."
Opera says the actively-developed Chromium-based browser is more compatible with modern sites, and now has compatibility with modern plug-ins many consider essential, such as the Evernote clipper and LastPass. But von Tetzchner argues that it could have added extension compatibility and yet kept the compact Presto engine.
