New in Vadodara, coming from US, need good internet provider

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 12:05 PM PST

I just came to Vadodara from the US last week and need a real good internet provider. I live in the Vasna road area for those familiar with the city.

Cost is not a concern, need good speeds (10mbps would be great) and reliability as I have to work with American companies attending net meetings and use VPN.

The only one I have been recommended is Hathway (which is what I have) but that is limited to 4mbps and have seen 4-5 connection drops for a minute or so in 2 days.

Thanks

I am not sure what I think about this...

On Tuesday, New Delhi police used tow trucks and a backhoe loader to drag away long concrete blocks from roads running past the embassy and leading up to gates of the compound, a Reuters witness said.

The low barriers had prevented vehicles from approaching the compound at high speeds and were presumably designed to help protect the embassy against attack from suicide bombers.

The Offtopic Thread

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 10:30 AM PST

With the recent spurt of people going offtopic, I saw the need of this thread. :P

Here you can go offtopic as much as possible. Post whatever you want, with just one condition that at least post something sensible that someone else would reply. Don't just post crap.

Thread hijacking is totally allowed here.

That being said, I'd like to post this.

Today, while coming to office, I was listening to Radio Mirchi, and there the RJ was playing songs dedicated by the parents for their child(ren).

There's one father who dedicated the song "Kajra Re" for his son. There's another father who dedicated the song "Dhoom Machale Dhoom" for his son. Now, after those two requests, there was one mother who dedicated the song "Jaadu Jaadu" for her daughter.

Now we can see the real contrast in the choice of songs between the dads and the mom (or for the son and the daughter). What do you think which was it? Or does it indicate some kind of specific mentality?

Apparently the gamepad accessory for the Galaxy S4 support devices as large as 6.3 inches. So, the rumor in the market is that Note3 might feature a display as large. lol.

I think they should have added support for 8" devices so that the recently launched Note 8.0 would have worked with this!

Reliance Thunder Plans Delhi, Recent review ?

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 08:54 AM PST

Hey guys,

I m from east delhi, shakarpur area to be precise .. Have been using Mtnl Broadband 512 kbps unlimited plan for last 2-3 yrs .. But since last couple months its been giving me problems ... after many days of downtime and unlimited complaints i decided to switch my ISP ..

The reliance Thunder plans seems very good .. Planning to get 2mbps unlimited Thunder Plan ..

Have gone through a couple of threads in this forum and reliance seems to be getting mixed reviews .. For some people its working fine .. They are getting the same speed as promised and some are getting very low speeds .. i guess it depends on the area ..

So if someone in Delhi especially east delhi region could provide me with some info on the status of reliance broadband .. it would be very helpful ..

I dont do any online gaming .. Just a lot of downloading for work .. so speed is a very important factor ..

Also if there are any other local ISP's with 1-2 mbps speeds for cheap prices .. Please let me know ...

Why this thread?

So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread...

Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread...

Will start with one post

Rahul Gandhi now want minority status for Jains

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 08:36 AM PST

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday met PM Manmohan Singh, urging him to consider speedily giving "national minority" status to Jains.
The minority affairs ministry has already moved a Cabinet note on conferring Jains minority status. Once approved, it will be then taken up by the National Commission for Minorities, which has powers to notify a religious group as a national minority.
Such as status would help confer constitutional safeguards to Jains and make them eligible for welfare programmes of the minority affairs ministry.

Kingdom of Dreams : Culture Gully : Nautanki Mahal : Zangoora

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 06:14 AM PST

Posted Image

Alright. This is a post about an upcoming tourist destination here in Gurgaon which if executed as it is planned... could become THE prime spot for international tourists in India.

The project is named Kingdom of Dreams. It is being developed by a group which calls itself The Great Indian Nautanki Company.

I have seen the place which is heavily under construction nowadays.

I have seen the blueprints. I even saw the presentation on what it is supposed to become when it is finished.

If what i saw turns out just like that... This place would be a live bollywood set prepared for a movie like Devdas (the one from Sanjay Leela Bhansali)...

It is supposed to have an auditorium with a live theater. Along with tons of other stuff. IIFA Cafe and Little India Street are two other elements.

Some of the 'celebrities' involved in the project are: Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Shiamak Davar and Dia Mirza.

The auditorium is going to have presentations directed by Karan Johar. Lyrics and other elements by Gulzar and Javen Akhtar. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are i believe the guys who would provide the music...

The thing is... Not much is out in the media. But what i saw was phenomenal.

The organizers are aiming to have it ready before the start of the commonwealth games. of course the target audience are international travelers...

I just hope it turns out at least exactly like what it is planned to be.

The people behind this project believe it would become the global tourist destination on the same platform as the Sydney’s Opera House, Paris’s Moulin Rouge, Thailand’s Phuket FantaSea, Singapore’s Esplanade and London’s Broadway.

BTW. this is not an advertisement message. Just an inside story. some hints are already available on news sites. the project is keeping a very low profile :D

let's hope it turns to be true... and we could finally have something other than Taj Mahal to boast about :D

----------

by the way, Kingdom of Dreams translates into सपनो का महल!

----------

i forgot to add. their future plans are to open similar setups in 4-5 more locations around the world. .. include Las Vegas ;)

----------

finally a disclaimer... maybe i was too tired that day or maybe i saw it all in a dream. it might not be true at all. :P

Unable to access internet through wifi from BSNL modem

Posted: 20 Jan 2014 05:17 AM PST

Hiii friends

I am using BSNL Broadband connection. I have nokia siemens wifi enabled modem. Till date, I was using internet on my laptop through the 'Bridging' connection.(For the first time, I established the connection through the cable & after that I was able to connect it through wifi). Now I have bought an android phone. So I changed the modem settings to pppoe.(I referred a video on youtube for this). Since then, I am not able to access some sites like facebook, 4shared.com & many more both on my laptop & on my smartphone as well. I can access youtube but when I click on any video, it doesn't play. I can't even use whatsapp through this connection. I am able to use only gmail & few other sites. So now I have again switched to bridging connection n using internet on my laptop which is working fine. But I can't access net on my mobile. I tried a lot to solve this problem but all in vain..so now I am fed up of this. Somebody Plz help me with this problem...
