Apparently the gamepad accessory for the Galaxy S4 support devices as large as 6.3 inches. So, the rumor in the market is that Note3 might feature a display as large. lol.
I think they should have added support for 8" devices so that the recently launched Note 8.0 would have worked with this! |
Can iball iB-WRA150N modem and router be used with reliance Posted: 16 Oct 2013 11:54 AM PDT Hello everyone
I have a reliance connection (Thunder 2 Mbps) which is currenly connected via reliance modem and tplink router.
The tplink router is being problematic now. The wireless stops working after few minutes while internet works perfectly via lan. While I maybe able to resolve this issue by downgrading the firmware (The latest 2 firmwares has this issue) I am also planning to buy a spare router just incase.
I have tried various routers such as netgear, tplink, asus and iball. I got an iball iB-WRA150N modem and router recently to use with the bsnl connection and it works perfectly.
Therefore I am planning to buy another router for the reliance connection as well since it works well and also its a modem and router at the price of router alone.
Now My questions are-
1.) Can the iball modem and router be used with reliance?
2.) Can iball router be used as a standalone router only and if yes then how as it doesnt have a wan port.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards

Review of Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle from Bangalore Posted: 16 Oct 2013 10:55 AM PDT Hello Everybody Airtel did a exhibition in our apartment yesterday on Airtel 4G LTE. We ordered an Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle yesterday in it. The price which was offered to us was Rs 2499 with 6 month 999 plan which offers 9GB per month. Here is the speed i got in a demo shown to us in my Laptop. ![]() I was really astonished to see such high speed in "our country" for such a price and that too via a wireless solution. I can understand that the offered bandwidth cap is very much small for such a speed, but even then the speed which Airtel offered was really amazing. The Airtel gut assured me that they would maintain 10 MBps as minimum speed in the course of time. I need one clarification from experts in this forum on a moment which made me awestruck. We can easily get rated speed inside our country when we point speedtest.net to Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai servers. But the speedtest meter hit back to 40 MBps instantly even if i point to a server which is located in USA. How can that be possible, please explain me guys. As i haven't seen more than 4MBps against a USA server in our country. But the poor Huawei USB Dongle used software compression and modulation. Because of that my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13" Laptop brought to it's knees when i try to watch a Full HD Video in Youtube. It is certainly not because of playing a Full HD Video in my Laptop created such an impact. |

Funny Videos, Images and Jokes Posted: 16 Oct 2013 10:33 AM PDT MS staff There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out. The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away." __________________________________________________________ Is Windows a virus? ACT Broadband - Have serious customer support issues Posted: 16 Oct 2013 08:48 AM PDT I moved house from Koramangala to Indiranagar and enquired with ACT if they would be able to provide me a connection in the new place. They took their own sweet time and after many phone calls later said they have done the feasibility study and they can in-fact provide me a connection in the new place. I asked them about what about all the days I won't be able to use the connection since they take 15 working days to shift it, they told me repeatedly that it would be credited to my account.
The Transfer Process
Their person came to collect new address proof and promptly took INR 300 as transfer charges. Again the series of calling them about the connection started. Their floor supervisor Mr. S kept stating that they are committed to giving the connection and they will refund the for the time I was unable to use it.
The Excuses start as always
Eventually they started giving excuses on why they can't provide the conncetion. Apparently there is someone in the new building who has a box but refuses to share the connection. So now ACT says that they can't provide the connection unless I go talk to the other customer and convince them. This is the most absurd thing I had ever heard. I have a business relationship with ACT but they want me to do their work. Not only that, I tried to explain to them that I am on their most expensive package, why not shift the box from the other customer to my place and give the connection to them.
Don't want my business
For some reason their customer support isn't interested in my business at all. I have never crossed the FUP limit so I fail to understand why it would be so. The only reasonable explaination is that they don't care at all.
The icing on the cake is that they have agreed to refund the transfer charges of INR 300 but not for the 15 days of unused internet. Right now, I am trying to get in touch with Mr. S and anyone who would understand that this is not the way to treat a customer but so far no luck.
Out of ideas on how to deal with them
If you all have any ideas on how to proceed to either get a connection(25 Mbps is needed for the kind of work I do) or at least if I can get my money back for the time I haven't utilised at all.

My Email To BSNL (Got A Response! Need Your Help!) Posted: 16 Oct 2013 07:08 AM PDT Hello everyone,
I've been lurking on this forum for a very long time now and I finally made a throw away account to pass on an important message to the community.
Recently, after having gotten really frustrated with the entire FUP/pseudo-high-speed-broadband thing (and the lack of meaningful alternatives here in Chennai), I looked up all the email IDs of BSNL managers and sent them an email requesting a single thing - offer us a 1Mbps no-FUP plan around the Rs. 1000 mark.
Now, in the email, I said that a lot of people were very frustrated with the status quo and that a lot of people are actually demanding something like this. This evening I received a small reply stating -
Respected Sr.Officers Kindly see the trailing customer mail. Forwarded for your kind attention and to take-up with Corporate office if required, please. The customer mail-id is : <redacted> ---------------------------------------------------------- Now I think it would mean something if everyone here could also mail these folks asking for the 1Mbps thing. If they see enough support they just might do it! I've pasted the text of the mail I sent, below - My name is <redacted> and I am a resident of Chennai who has been using BSNL's broadband services for many years now. I have been using your broadband services since as early as 2004. For as long as I can remember now, my internet's average speed has been somewhere in the region of 512 Kbps (Kilo BITS per second). Yes, BSNL does offer "high speed" plans but these are crippled since BSNL implements a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) with caps set at data amounts as low as 8GB. In today's world there is not much you can do with 8GB at ~1Mbps (1 Mega BIT(s) per second). I am an ardent gamer and I love watching videos on youtube and I skype a lot. With the kind of plans you have, I can do none of these. For example, I regularly connect to servers in Europe and the kind of latency your network provides (~300 ms ping on average), a lot of what I try to do (play games) actually just fails most of the time. Maybe for people like you, games might be for kids but for me it is actually a very serious pursuit. And for people like me, the kind of service BSNL provides is inadequate. Given the lack of private players in the industry with reasonable plans, I am forced to stick with BSNL. I would be really, really happy if BSNL launches a simple broadband plan at Rs.1100 which offers a 1Mbps (1 Mega BIT(s) per second) plan with NO Fair Usage Policy (FUP). What this means is that you don't throttle down the 1Mbps speed down to something absolutely meaningless like 256Kbps (Kilo BITS per second) once you cross some threshold like 10GB. This is a demand a lot of people from the metros have been making for a very long time now. The internet won't wait for India. In today's situation your connection speeds are barely enough to load images. If you don't believe me, you can try this for yourself. Go to imgur (a popular image hosting site) and try to load the images there from some random BSNL connection at an average household. You'll realize what a huge pain it is waiting for images to load because it is a 256Kbps connection. Of late, with rapid updates to email services (read Gmail and Yahoo!) it has become near impossible to login to check emails too. Point in case being the fact that Yahoo mail takes a ridiculous amount of time to log in if you're on a connection that's slower that 1Mbps. The simple truth is that this is not an issue about "Indians don't have much to do on the internet" but that the content (because of quality upscaling) on the internet has grown in volume. So while a 8GB FUP cap might have made sense way back in 2007, it is absolutely meaningless in today's context. If you don't trust what I say, please visit this popular Indian broadband related forum named India Broadband Forum. Look at the kind of opinion people have about BSNL's service. I sincerely hope that someone or the other reading this email pays heed to it and takes PROMPT positive actions regarding what I have said. I wish my dream of a decent internet connection comes true. Yes, India has a lot of people who have never even seen computers but that doesn't mean those who have computer access shouldn't have decent access to the internet. I have no intent of offending or slighting anybody. I have written such a blunt mail in hopes that it will carry across the chagrin I experience on a daily basis. Kind regards, <redacted> ----------------------------------------------------- Here's the list of email ID's I mailed this to - gmbbchn@bsnl.co.in ; ifa_chennai@bsnl.co.in ; pg_chnbbs@bsnl.co.in ; pg_chntr@bsnl.co.in ; pg_chnse@bsnl.co.in ; gmcentral_chennal@bsnl.co.in ;cgm_chennai@bsnl.co.in ; cmdbsnl@bsnl.co.in Please help! I think it's time we tried something. BTW, this is not spam.
I made a throwaway because I don't want to sign up on the forum. But I am a regular visitor here though. : )

anyways. good service overall.

Suggest good wired broadband near Powai, Mumbai Posted: 16 Oct 2013 04:38 AM PDT Hi Guys, I have recently relocated near IRB Road Powai, Mumbai I am looking for a fast, stable wired broadband with no FUP in an unlimited data transfer plan. I need it mainly for video conferencing for work (hence stability requirement) and using steam of at least 2 MBps (but 4 or 6 MBps is preferable) I am using hathway since roommate is already using it, downtime is high during rains, very low FUP cap and severely fluctuating speeds Please help me with your suggestions!! Thanks. Till now, I was in Navi Mumbai and used: SSV/D-VoiS = horrible downtime of about 2-4 days every month, usually on weekends and fluctuating speeds. Also since they had monopoly for quite some time, their customer service was very rude. Airtel = good service but FUP is reached in 10-15 days usually!! Reliance = No FUP plans and good service in Navi Mumbai, but not sure about quality of service in Mumbai |
