i wonder what would break because of this switch. DNS records are not fetched from Go Daddy so I would have to enter them again. Since I am using CloudFlare right now, I am saved from that hassle!

actually 15 Mbps means 15 mega bits per second
the 'b' represents bits not bytes .For bytes 'B' is used like MBps
so 15Mbps means 1.85MBps speeds going little over board and giving 2 MBps

Whatever android phone he wants to buy but it should have a good battery life for the primary usage he wants.

If the wifi router Power adapter is rated 12V say 1Amp or 1.5Amp,
can be connected directly to the Battery.
Observe polarity. Feedback.
