I'm building a new PC and I plan to do the same so that i can record TV shows (Without using set top box) to my NAS, but I haven't yet decided on a DTH provider.

Why pay for HD channels without an HDTV? The aspect ratio is likely to be 16:9 either way so you'll end up with black bars on a 4:3 screen.

Bullshit ! I am on Airtel and in no way did I get to know from Airtel that this kind of insane policy is adopted who were the 1st one to adopt it in Nov.. ! ( I came to know about this from IBF, IndianMascot :D ). I think most people dont know about it either....just like these companies have been selling their BB plans and many are not even aware that there is crappy FUP in Unlimited BB plans and Unlimited speeds plans are not really unlimited data plans and once they get the bill at the end of the month they are screwed !

An ADSL wifi router can solve your requirement... one of the place you can find such device is at ebay.in.
