From what I know of Beam's network, it's nothing like ours, and would be more accurately compared with Reliance's Metro Ethernet plans.

This is working in both Karnataka and Chennai circles for the past 2 months. So if u recharge for 2G @ 98 rupees in prepaid, u will get 3G speeds

Sure, you may find a good plan if you can increase your budget at some 500 - 800 Rupees. Try ULD 1350, but that too is a combo plan with free calls. All those combo plans I mentioned to have free calls in plenty. Check these links

Problem Solved, They have rectified the problem and the speeds are consistent!
the portal is a bit of concern which logs out for every 8 hours unlike Reliance logs out aftr 24hours.

Overall, Its going good now and worth the money!

2hrs downtime is ok.. because may be they need to clean up database and all...its such a huge database...so might need maintenance everyday.

At what times to you get high pings ?

Are the high pings accompanied by packet loss ?

Anyway as far as I know pings are typically stable after 8pm up until 11am.

Between 12 noon and 8pm there are periods where pings shoot up by 100-200ms; it's probably terrible routing from BSNL causing severe congestion. Often such times are accompanied by packet loss.

Other than the above it is very common for your local exchange to restart servers or mess around with something (remember having a backup server is an alien concept with BSNL). This will usually manifest as a complete lack of connectivity (error 674) and/or no modem lights - this again can last anywhere between a few minutes to a few days.

There is really nothing you can do to fix high pings. You could get a secondary internet connection to switch to when bsnl becomes unreliable I suppose.

why do you guys read this and post some brief idea on it?

I have taken this article from someone's blog who is member on this forum. Credits goes to him.

Their network is scalable to support speeds upto 28Mbps, but thats going to be 2-3 yrs before we get those speeds in affordable plans. I am using their 2gb data plan in data card & when I landed up in Mumbai, I was getting speeds upto 6.8Mbps for a short while, I was traveling on highway.

Other companies will have to upgrade their network hardware whereas they already have it in place that s why they are advertising it.

It is the worst channel in history of cricket.

Ok so I would like to fill-in you guys on a little
history / information on Phil / DSP. Incase you didnt know this guy does funny commentary while playing videogames.

Phil , got a back injury some years back which wont heal, because of which he cannot do much strenuous physical work suck as lifting heavy weights /
driving for long distances and hence he plays games which is his hobby to pass time.

He has a degree in Business and lives on is own in his condo in Conneticut , USA. He is single and is not in a relationship. Phil started his youtube channel 2 years back and started recording his gameplays. At that time he did this as a hobby.

But during September of 2010 he got "laid-off" [ not fired >.> ] from his fulltime job because of the terrible economy in the US.
He remained positve and decided to start making videogame playthroughs full time to make a living.
After many controversies like getting google adsense closed by youtube on his channel. He finally got his channel
partnered with Machinima and he is trying to figure out if this partnership will enable him to earn a living.

I hope that you guys got some info regarding Phil a.k.a DSP a.k.a darksydephil a.k.a thekingofhate :P

my issue is.. while i am connecting to the INTERNET suddenly after every few minutes my broadband connection dose not get disconnected but it dose not receives any data as well.

in my windows 7 trouble shooting shows "resource not able to reach...not able to connect to the PRIMARY DNS "


I am using BNSL BROADBAND from last 3 months ... just facing problem from last 2 days.

one thing to mention here if i stop start my modem. it again get connected for another few minutes but after few minutes it again went down

These are my pathetic 3G speed, New Delhi Circle, Only UMTS selected on my Nokia E71.. Poor than my DSL broadband..

Yes, one modem will do. But every time you change the telephone cable (RJ11) to the DSL port of modem for new connection, you need to log in to the modem using 192.168.1.1 and change the ID and password. You will 20 % off on both rental and usage if both connections are in your father's name. If you do not want to make calls from your land line, you can choose Unlimited 750 Combo and Home Combo 500 or Home Combo 600. The later has free calls 175 and 250 respectively.

They just want to sell their data cards,make quick money and steal customers from other operators .After they sell all their data cards,they might withdraw unlimited plan like BSNL.

there is probme in door.. but out side its good .... but there cc even automated system to send the standard details is not upto mark ... they need to improve on it ...

Option accessible when when you are not connected to the network, so click on the 'Disconnect' button and ideally that option should be available.

Now that this thread is alive again, any more comments on Speeds of EVDO connections like Tata Photon+ & Reliance Netconnect are going further down.
My personal experience is very bad, in spite of staying pretty close to TATA EVDO enabled tower and reporting ~300 to 350+ kBps speeds earlier when the service was launched now the speeds barely touch ~200 kBps at good times using DOWNLOAD MANAGERS only which is still fine but otherwise browsing experience and latency is not good at all + occasionally in spite of being in HSPA mode i still get very bad speeds as if there is a downtime :(
