Shifting from Vodafone to Airtel

Hi!

I am from New Delhi and wanting to port out from Vodafone due to the following reasons:

1) They charge 199 per month for Vodafone Mobile Connect (even though i have the requirement of it 4-5 times in a month, i have to make it active for the entire month). Also, there is no free data usages, and anything that you use will be chargeable at 10 paisa / 10 KB from the 1st second.

On the other hand Airtel has very lucrative option for mobile internet: monthly rental Rs. 98 only. 2 GB data usage free. And post 2 GB, it is 30 paisa / 50 KB which means 6 paisa / 10 KB.

2) 3G is not yet launched on Vodafone (though they said they are launching it soon, they have not published their 3G rates yet). I am eager/needy to use 3G service which is something Airtel has already launched.

3) Vodafone has very limited network coverage in Bihar & Jharkhand and some other circles, so when i go there on roaming, my mobile has to depend on other operators. Though the calling part works fine on other networks, there is no possibility of internet use in a cross operator scenario. Whereas, Airtel has full coverage in the above circles and both calling and internet work good.

I have read good review about VSNL in other threads, but VSNL is not available in Delhi. :@

So, would it be a good decision to shift from Vodafone to Airtel or should i remain on Vodafone (read that Vodafone got the highest benefits from Mobile Number Portability) ? I would also like to listen particularly from those (particularly from Delhi region) who have shifted FROM Airtel TO Vodafone, what influenced their decision to do so.

can you confirm what was given on the bsnl bb plan homepage.
does this mean that only blackberry data is accessed via 3G ?

yikes. cisco_tech. we meant the 999 plan , not the 362.

it is mentioned that 3G browsing is not covered under the regular plan , right?

btw, does push email work on your phone?

Current I am using BES and it goes via 3G. I had activated the 3G Trial option. But I have not seen any separate plans for Blackberry 3G Services.

i agree dude.... loop mobile is a worst service..... i started telling my frnds to do not take loop connection..... i m also hung wid d same number..... i was on postpaid for years...... i converted my number to prepaid to switch to another network but now they r asking me to use the number 3 months on the prepaid....... they just want to generate money frm us....... Hi!

Have been using wimax reliance connection for my office which has around 3-4 hours of downtime per week as well as it is a little more expensive (Around Rs. 2500 per month). Unfortunately, Airtel broadband is not available in my area due to some local dispute.

As 3G has arrived, i was thinking of in the line of purchasing an Airtel 3G USB modem and sharing it with the existing network through a 3G router like this one.

Will it work? Anyone has tried to share his 3G USB modem with LAN / WAN?

Any proven/tested suggestion will be heartily appreciated.

sc has there own restrictions ..... but good that sc is doing best to improve the image of courts .. as there were few cases of corrupt judges ..

3G can never replace wired BB......you are talking about MTNL.
I am personally on BSNL 2500 3 months plan(withdrawn now)...and i can say i have tough time.

After every 28MB or sometimes 56MB the connections goes dormant,no downloads only the upload counter ticks a little.
Only at night after 11pm i get good speeds but not more than 800-1000Kbps and occasionally 200Kbps. Then also the line dropping problem remains but at higher MB's.

VS is recommended 4 most of the products, i too have purchased all products from VS, T.V, fridge, A/c DVD player.

But their installing of A/C took time,and grill maker & others were not coperating with each other.
I hope they get ur A/c installed tomorrow itself, not like a week or so, like me who waited 4 a week to get the thing installed.

Hi friends ! i have docomo sim activated for 3G and recharged with Rs 90/200 Mb pack valid for 1 month. After using it for month i was getting d/s of 1MB/s . when i used without any pack they charged me for 110 Rs for surfing on 3G.then also i was getting decent speed. when i recharged for 15 Rs/500 MB 2G pack, i am getting speed of 200KB/s . when i called CC for the reason for the low speed. they told me that there is seprate tariff for Estick and mobile phone. is it so or they are fooling me.your valuable comments are much appreciated. thanks. P.S. i was looking for a loophole in their system like BSNL 3G using UMTS mode. It is working but not getting speed of 3G but better than EDGE.

For a review: This is pure CRAP. I have installed this and it does nothing. So even if it is proved that this is not a trojan, do not use it for the simple reason that it does not do anything. Nothing will happen to Geohotz according to him. In the recent interview, he was very confident that he will definitely win the case against sony. Also, he is a very popular hacker in the market and I think every one is using his exploits. Therefore, he managed sufficient fund in two days to fight against sony from public through donation from all over the world.

This issue is just spread by sony like gas spreading in air. After all, sony will suffer from it. Because of geohotz, play station got hits in the market. If he does not jailbreak and crack play station, pirated stuff will not work on it. People have to buy original stuff which are very costly to afford. Therefore, clearly sony will loose sales in some areas where pirate are mostly used like in india. Sony is still on fire to find out the hacker who is working on play station hacking and they are seizing their hard drives to get idea about market hacking software which will help them to build new hack proof play station. TSHD+ installed following are my observations so far:-

1) (-) Sound level problem is there. At times it gives same volume level even upto 4 bars but reset if we start again from 0;
2) (-) Sports HD channels works only during the match and rest of the time they just display next broadcast static menu;
3) (-) Other then timely ESPN and STAR sports channels there are only 4 HD channels Discovery, NetGeo, Star Plus and One Showcase;
4) (-) You need to press all special buttons separately i.e. Guide, Organizer, Active etc. earlier we could use all menus by just pressing one special button.

4) (+) HD is damn clear;
5) (+) Menus are much better organized and much more smooth;
6) (+) FF is damn smooth for Recorded videos;
7) (+) It's steal @4,000/-

Thanks Deepak for the suggestion. I had used the customer ID in the earlier bill. Now in the new format bill received 2 days back, had a new ID beginning with 40...Used this to register at sefcareportal. Now I can check usage, but there is no provision to check monthwise - only 'billed' and 'unbilled'. Unbilled shows both Feb and March together. Guess it is the software/website problem. Girl at above no. says 'lots of people having problems with the new setup..should be solved soon.." Hope so.

Dont even think about it. It is a super Crap plan with very less Dload limit at 2mbps and after dat 256 Kbps. BSnl has that plan for arond 2100 bucks with 150 GB dload limit and after that 512 kbps (pretty decent and FAR BETTER). Craptel shud take inspiration frm dem in terms of Fair Usage Policy
