MTNL 3G unlimited plans finally! Posted: 22 Feb 2011 12:26 PM PST Quote: It takes around 1 hrs 20 min. To download 600 mb movie, wheres on my 512 kb wired broadband takes 3 hrs, so definitely better than wired one. Also you dnt have to worry abt no internet due to faulty line or repairing which is so common in mtnl wired line. As far as stability, I am facing disconnection but not before 5-6 hrs. which I doubt due to overheating of USB modem. 200 gb cap is for one month, I heard this in other forums. Alternatively, when I used Nokia OVI, internet was not working at all, but it was connected. And yes, I have installed patch for usbser.sys from following location as mentioned in another thread: KB925681 - When you try to download a file from the Internet by using Internet Explorer, the download stops responding. |
Posted: 22 Feb 2011 12:15 PM PST Quote: My 40GB Seagate HDD which I was using as an External Backup is no more being detected by the system. The hard disk didn't give me any warning at all. Tried it under Ubuntu and did a "dmesg" and got an error - "Device offlined - not ready after error recovery" Tried lot of things to make it alive. But no luck. Any one else faced such error and have successfully mad it work? How to manually make the device online? Also any idea of the costs of recovering data from a 40GB Hard Disk? :icry: Well in my opinion you should buy thee service from any good data recovery companies. I tried Salvage which gave me 100% positive result , here is the url hope so its working now Data Recovery | Hard Drive Recovery | RAID Data Recovery best of luck |

MTNL 3G on iPhone 4 - Settings & Performance Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:52 AM PST Quote: Argos, Let see what I can figure out now. By the way the ACT HSDPA is not for Delhi and delhi mtnl has a completely different APN settings for HSDPA unlike mumbai where gprsppsmum is used. I feel there is something to do with the APN settings and probably there will be some other settings available for Mumbai prepaid which would be specific to 3g or HSDPA like Delhi but we are not aware of this. Try calling the referred GM's office; I think you'll get quicker results in resolving your problem. |

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:08 AM PST Quote: I just ordered a Samsung Focus from a US online retailer(for $400) and shipped it to my friend in US. I will be getting it, some time in Jan third week. I will have to buy unlock code for Samsung Focus once I get it in my hand. I preferred Focus's Super AMOLED to anything HD7 offers. more over, there seems be antenna death grip issues with HD7. I looked at many HD7 review videos and was disappointed at its display quality. not to mention the 1300 milli amp battery it has and its short battery life. but, I would really miss HD7's 4.3 inch screen size. I was looking forward to ordering a samsung focus from U.S. I have an option of ordering an unlocked device or a locked device and unlock it using a code. Were you able to unlock the samsung focus?? I have a few more questions : we do not have google maps, so how is the performance of bing maps in India?? |
New development is brought in india through NBP change forcefully by government. Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:06 AM PST Quote: Right now, I heard fiber development from BSNL(costly), Hayai(yet not started) and akash fiber optics(installed in jaipur and other areas). No other company has planned for it. |
Broadband rates going up, while GPRS and voice rates going down -- any explaination? Posted: 22 Feb 2011 10:05 AM PST Quote: Well... it goes back a long way (as far as computing is concerned), so these days it's more or less a tradition than anything else. I suppose it could kind of be compared to any other measurements - metres per second (speed) versus litres per second (volume), yet if you convert them correctly you could use them interchangeably (in theory... since a river could be said to run at x metres per second OR litres per second). South Korea seeks internet speed of 1 Gigabit per second in every home! Posted: 22 Feb 2011 08:09 AM PST I do not want to bother you but this is old news. I have read it in year of 2009. By 2012 Koreans Will Get 1Gbps Broadband Connections: Tech News and Analysis « Actually, they are active in that field because they are on top to provide fastest internet in the world. That is why they want to secure their position forever. Right now, fiber installation is going on in every developed country or being done. Only we are still living in old infrastructure. According to recent development in india on internet infrastructure, all countries are moving on fiber and only they develop wimax where fiber is not possible to install or less requirement in those area but we are moving on wireless technology everywhere except some highly developed and highly requirement area. Wimax develpment is little bit cheap as compared to fiber development. & also we do not have no of CPE manufacturer in india. By the way, I got some article regarding recent NBP and further expecting development on it. I will post as soon as possible under broadband in india section. |

Sun direct dictates to its customers Posted: 22 Feb 2011 07:41 AM PST SUN DIRECT IS A REAL CROOK. They block even the FTA TV & radio channels during active subscription period, which one can normally receive with a FTA STB from Measat. India may be free & open competitive market on PAPER, but when it comes to DTH beyond a certain limit, all Operators seem to be colluding. This is very bad. I can only visualize one single gainer in this, namely BEETEL (a division of BHARTI AIRTEL). Fed up with dth operator's dictates, ex-subscribers of dth are buying beetel fta STBs. note: with a single dish pointing towards insat-4b & measat one can get good number of fta channels. |

When will BSNL implement TRAI's recommendation of minimum 512 kbps speeds? Posted: 22 Feb 2011 05:21 AM PST A person who can just sign his or her name is called literate in India by the government. Ideal size for Tablet Size - 7 inch or 10 inch ?? Posted: 22 Feb 2011 02:43 AM PST I think its depend on how you want to use your tablet for? If you want to use your tablet as a smart phone then anything greater than 7 inches screen is a burden you carry everywhere. If you looking for a casual browsing and youtube experience on the move then a 10-12 inches is good. And if you thinking you can replace your laptop level process work with a tablet, I believe you throwing your money in dump, better stick to your laptop cos tablets can't replace necessity of laptops... ;) Cheers!!! |

Actve Sports not available in full screen mode Posted: 22 Feb 2011 12:30 AM PST Forgot to mention one more thing. Earlier, before discontinuing the service, they used to provide original stadium sound as well. So in ad breaks, one was able to shift to different camera angle and select stadium sound. So it was possible to skip annoying ads. All in all, it is disappointing service. The only benefit of this service is that when some guests come to your house, you can show them that is it possible for you to view the match in different camera angle and you are not dependent on anybody to watch the scoreboard. They might get impressed. :o |
