Reduced call rate to two bsnl numbers Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:54 PM PST |
Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:51 PM PST Quote: namaste to all. and mr. carley :D been following hayai/this forum since 2010 starting. (yea never bothered to join :P ) but im as much excited for hayai as the next guy here. ever since then ive seen the faqs main page and browsed forums a lot but i might have missed few facts. so i have a few questions can someone answer/link/quote them if im careless to miss them. ty Q.1 . is there any demand coming from chandigarh? whats the approx number of months of chandigarh launch after mumbai launch (dont tell 3-12 months plz :P ) I'm particularly looking forward to Amritsar for some reason (I seem to recall there's a mountain railway there or something). Quote: Q.2 . why was the tentative price list removed?. to tell some people who are oblivious to hayai . that always came as helpful . since the launch date is not far (we hope) . there should be a rough tentative price list . at least somewhere on forum from yourself Mr. carley . if thts possible . or even if old one can be re-uploaded(updated). that would be awesome Quote: Q.3 . as far as i have come to understand. hayai will be FTTH. i guess i wasnt able to pin point the exact page on exact topic where FTTH was described. i am more or less a layman . since ultimately an ethernet cable will go into my cpu ? . wouldnt that limit the connection to 100mbps. where as ive read that speeds might be available upto 150mbps and hayai zone bandwidth upto 1gbps ? . so whats the deal here. will i be needing an internal network card to reap hayai to the maximum benefits? What your actual throughput is depends a lot on that. A good network card should get you in the early 900s, a bad one closer to 600. I personally got about 850mbit/s when I ran a test on my network here in NZ a few days back. If your network card is only fast ethernet, then you'll only get 100mbit/s. But, fortunately in that case, it's no longer the internet connection that's the bottleneck, it'd be your hardware. Probably one of the few things we could legitimately blame the consumer for :P Quote: Quote: Welcome to the India Broadband Forum! Here are answers to atleast some of the questions: 2. The original price sheet and the current sheet have just too much discrepancy. In fact the day the discrepancy arised, the price sheet was removed. Original prices: Hayai Broadband India: Tariff Plans & Review | letmeget.com Revised prices: (most recent) Speed_________MRP + ST______MRP INC ST____Anticipated Usage (in GB, Average User) 5_______________1812___________1999___________200 10______________2719___________2999___________300 25______________3626___________3999___________400 50______________4532___________4999___________500 100_____________6345___________6999___________700 150_____________9065___________9999___________1000 + Data prices packages have been removed and flexibility to buy data from 1 to 1000 GB has been introduced. 3. Hayai will be seeing max benefit to the customer. The ethernet cable isnt limited to 100 mbps, the network card is. Basically the speed is not limited, the data transfer is as it costs the company to transfer data over the Internet. However the intra network bandwidth doesnt cost and hence all intra network transfers(within the Hayai Zone) will be free and unlimited, including but not limited to the Hayai to Hayai customer p2p file sharing. There is also a private Hayai tracker which works for Hayai customers so you will be not charged as you will be seeding / downloading from the Hayai peers and hence this will be counted as intra network transfers. Quote: Hayai will be able to transfer upto 1 gbps speeds on the Hayai Zone so if you have a fast computer and a gigabit card then you can reap data transfers upto 125 MB/sec. However outside the network data transfer will be chargeable and so there are data recharges to buy provided at 150 mbps and flat rate plans (Plans having fixed bill) provided at speed tiers for the simple reason that the user might only be wanting to ( not able to ) download a given amount of data, and which the company may afford.(Which for example we may take the 5mbps flat rate plan, in which the anticipated usage is 145 gb per month( fair enough) and so the cost is 550 (infrastructure) and 1450 (data) and if the user downloads too much data more than this( assuming others are acting fair) the average usage may go up and might make the company unprofitable or very less profitable if the nature dominates among many users(obviously.) Quote: If one user (out of 500 users say) downloads 600 GB on a 5 mbps flat rate plan(anticipated usage 200 GB) then considering other users as fair users, the average will not go up. But if 99 others download 600 GB then the usage is bound to go up and so if a user is found to be downloading much unfair(say 500 gb on 5 mbps, 800 on 10, 1.5 TB on 25 and 5 Tb on 150 mbps) then the company will monitor your usage for 3 months and will call you to reduce usage or upgrade your plan to be able to adjust you into a 'fairer' plan. If you are not complying then action may be taken including traffic shaping and suspension of account until a resolution is reached. However you will not be wanting to be that user, will you? Quote: I'll leave the chandigarh question to mgc. However one thing I can say that he has no alternative to giving that answer, as the things are completely out of his control regarding the launch. Once the company is launched then things will be clearer and then perhaps he will be in a position to give a proper answer to your question. PS. Hope you enjoy your stay on the forum. Regards, cst1992 (wow, my 200th post!) Quote: Quote: Here you get data plans on ADSL (ADSL 1 or 2+ depending on where you live and if your exchange has been upgraded or your area has been given a cabinet to reduce the local loop length) which is ONLY delivered at full-speed (my line-rate syncs at around 16mbit/s. I live in Hamilton and I get about 15 to Auckland, about 120km away) WorldXChange server: , Vodafone NZ server: ...and differing bandwidths to various parts of the world - 12 to Australia, anything between 4 and 10 to the US (depending on where in the US), usually between 1 and 3 to India, usually about I guess 3-6 to the UK. There are 2 types of DSL plan: bundled with phone + NLD, and without phone. Most broadband providers offer almost exactly the same services with price discrepancies being minimal, due to the fact that despite LLU being done now, most of the last-mile is still owned by Telecom NZ, who charges $23 + tax per subscriber as a wholesale to the ISPs. The disadvantage: price and monopoly (which is being eroded slowly). Advantage: I can choose any provider I like and there is no issue with feasibility, since almost every house in NZ has copper going in to it. The phoneline by itself costs around NZ$45-50 - that's fairly universal. A baseline for broadband is about $35-40 with 5GB of usage (after a $10 discount for having a phoneline with the company). Fortunately, over and above the baseline prices the per GB rate is only about $1 (when in a plan, I'm not talking about overuse), so a plan with like 20GB is only going to be like $50-55. They also often add $10 more if you live outside of Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. So a typical combo plan is around $80-95 with 5GB of usage depending on the provider. A typical combo plan with 20GB usage will probably be about $95-110ish. Not too many providers go much higher than this, but there are a select few. Here in Hamilton I would pay:
Some providers have use the data limit as a Fair Usage Policy where they reduce you to 64kbit/s (Telecom NZ, Snap, some others), others use it as a hard data cap, after which you pay per GB, usually around $1.50-2.50. Some also have specific data packages that you can buy for special rates, like 10GB for $15 or something. For the record, today's exchange rate is around Rs34=NZ$1 ...confused yet? Also Mobile Number Portability is available in NZ and works very well here. I can do the whole lot online at the provider's website and it takes a matter of hours. |

How to use fivenet in ubuntu linux?!? Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:02 PM PST hey nithin, you are having that problem cause the pppoe cant figure out which service you are trying to log in on... this will fix it..! you will need to edit a perticular file located at here /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider to do so, go to konsol and type #gksu gedit /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider in that file you will see a line something like this plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0 you will need to insert this into the line before eth0 rp_pppoe_service <the_service_name> replace the "<the_service_name>" with your net-service name. (the dialer you use in windows should have that name) so the line should look like this plugin rp-pppoe.so rp_pppoe_service <the_service_name> eth0 save and close the file. now pon dsl-provider command should work like a charm. |

Posted: 17 Feb 2011 11:39 AM PST Thanks for Leaving Airtel. God bless you. Wish you best of luck (some extra).. BSNL and BSNL guys are really good. I have been using BSNL for some 7 years. Never found any problem unsolved, at least I solved it myself. CC guys are really down to earth. Just one thing, they need to be more technically professional. BSNL network previously worst, but recently from 2 years its improving. 3G needs more technical supporters and infrastructure improvement. Airtel is purely thief, just like Hutch (now Vodafone)*. *Not anymore thief. |

Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus: broadband review Posted: 17 Feb 2011 10:10 AM PST Quote: firstly sorry for not having pictures in this thread for downloading sped , as it did not struck to me to take pictures to share when i was playing around with the demo of reliance netconnect + broadband . Ok here is the review. After 1 week of non stop calls from reliance people informing me that they will be coming for the demo today and blah blah , they finally came to my office on saturday. The guy who brought the demo was nothing more than a delivery boy i felt. I asked him various questions regarding the broadband but he was confused and i felt i was talking in greek to him . Anyway the demo package came in with a usb and a cd to install the drivers , the installation went fine . You have to open up a connector in order to connect to the broadband and under the settings of the connector you have to enter the username and the password , the username was some reliance number and the password was the same . I tried to connect several times but it kept on coming could not get a dial tone error repeatedly , i got frustrated and asked this guy whats wrong man! ? He then checked in the settings again and then changed the connection type to 1x network (you get 3 choices : 1x , hsd , hybrid) , i asked him 1x network is your normal network for slow speeds so why are you connecting to that ? Guess what the reply was ? Sir we have not launched hsd network as yet , i got even more frustrated and asked him why are you advertising for high speed data 3.1 mbps connection and misleading the users , like i thought he had no reply. Anyway got connected to the 1x network , the speed frustrating was nothing more than 12kb download . I disconnected and tried connecting to the hsd network again , to my surprise it got connected , i asked him how come it got connected to hsd network right now ? He said oh sorry sir hsd network is launched you can connect to the hsd network too , i just couldnt believe with what i was dealing with . Anyway 2nd time connected with the hsd network and tried downloading some file again , guess what the speed was on hsd network too ? Lol i was not getting more than 30kb download at the max . I asked the guy to leave , told him you have a great product but i am not interested at all !! Reliance is living upto its name ! Fooling people and what not ! If any of the ppl from reliance is reading this , then wake up , yall are nothing but white collar thieves !!! Robbing in day light !! Thats what yall are doin !! reply: You got a wrong guy,,,,,,,,,, better you should try this no- 9884131330 or 9025606061. If you are in chennai,,,,,,,,,,,,. Name srinivasan expert in this product. |

Posted: 17 Feb 2011 07:16 AM PST I am using a home theater and the sound on these channels is really good. No using some different cables wont affect the quality. You can connect your creative 5.1 only if they have a optical or a coaxial input port. HD sound can only be transmitted by these single cables and not by those component cables. |
