C'mon man, i am not facing such issues, then why should i complain.....u have been facing issues, thats sad, but that doesnt mean that all will face same issues!! I am happy with my connection - only that minor irritation of logging on the internet when i switch on my PC.

I have a suggestion for Tata DoCoMo. It is pretty obvious that the company has deliberately done something to restrict Data speed for its 2G customers post launch of 3G services in November'2010. The reason is simple: An average 3G customer will be generating lot more revenue for the company compared to an average 2G customer for the same amount of Data usage. Simple Maths: A 5 GB Data plan for 3G customer costs Rs.1000/- and a 6 GB plan for 2G customer costs Rs.95/-. And thats the reason why the company has restricted its server capacity & speed for 2G customers to give its 3G customer a higher priority.

My suggestion for the company is like this. They should think of introducing premium 2G Data plans, where they will not be in the restricted capacity & speed category. For eg: The standard 2G Data plan for upto 6 GB usage costs Rs.95 per month. Tata DoCoMo could introduce a Premium 2G Data plan for equivalent usage for something like Rs.200/- or Rs.250/-. There are people out there who wouldn't mind to pay a little higher amount to get better Data speeds on 2G. This should atleast be available as an option to the customers.

i have also applied to be ported out of airtel to tata docomo on 28th jan . till now i have received 4 calls from airtel to not port out. they have not yet approved my port out request. keeping my fingers crossed

And yes Rs.99 data coupon gives 130MB of data usage with a validity of 30 days (had used it once).

I have always felt bad for Opera that inspite of so much innovation in the field of web browsing, they rarely even get credit for what they have contributed. However, it does remain a fact that they have been pioneers in this domain for quite some time now and would most likely continue to be so. They missed out on the branding big time due to being a closed group.

I have no problem with with FUP as long as they keep it at a reasonable 70-80GB for a connection. But paying 1299 and having 15GB Fup is daylight robbery by airtel.

Now my p2p speeds are capped to 45KB until midnight then they go back to normal 1mbps speeds. Why is airtel doing this??

We at Nilgiris are gifted enough to have our plan shifting done the same day !

I guess its a policy of MTNL (albeit a nonsensical one) to disconnect a session every 6 hours. So writing to higher ups won't be of much use.

@formfollowsfunction: It would be good to check the SNR & Line Attenuation values when the connection drops although I know this particular model of D-Link is a troublesome modem for some users (including me) who had to change it after failing to find a solution to this inexplicable disconnection problem.

This offer has been around for a long time. It does work, but do check with LB before purchasing if they have the item in stock. There have been numerous instances when they didn't have an item in stock and yet the site wasn't updated accordingly.

i am of course not targeting anyone specifically. the tools in place are aimed to block potential spammers. and some normal posts are also caught. nothing to worry about. i clean up the queue frequently.

i do not watch enough tv to notice these changes nowadays. :)

I submitted a form to port a Tata Indicom CDMA number to Vodafone on Sunday, 23, Jan at around 10:00 PM at a small retailer near my home in Delhi. My number was moved to Vodafone yesterday (Sunday). So, it took 1 week to port the number. Total cost was RS 19 for MNP/SIM and Rs 50 for FRC. I got total talktime of Rs 44 on new SIM. So, effectively I paid Rs 69 for Rs 44 talktime and a new SIM. I have not used Vodafone for many years now and I want to test their network before I move my main Airtel blackberry number to them.

Hi I am new user to this forum. And today only I activated my Airtel 3G service. I am not at all crossing more than 700 kbps download speed, even my mobile (Nokia 5230) is showing full signal strength. I am from chennai. Does this problem is facing me alone or some one else there (from chennai) with this trouble. Plz let me know.:thumb:

Huawei E122 is the safest bet but its only 7.2 Mbps if you want higher speeds you can also look at Huawei UMG183 it supposed to support speeds upto 21 Mbps.

Why everytime bsnl choosing NORTH or SOUTH region???
There is easy availability of resources in EAST region.
I cant understand what's wrong with mentality of BSNL officers.
They are trying to do setup in undeveloped areas and wasting lots of time.
During 3G spectrum bids highest bids are on west region (defined by BSNL only).
Mumbai, delhi n Maharashtra are 3 top bidded region.
But BSNL officers have 0 profit sense.
BSNL IS FULL OF AGED PPL WHO EVEN DOESNT CARE(or dnt konw) ABT NEW TECHNOLOGIES.

He mentioned this cpl of months back on the other channels.

How long do we have to wait for some sort of verdict here or does it take years ?

Nobody knows nor is it mentioned anywhere.

One thing is sure, swami gets his name out there into the public sphere.

m getting somewhere around 300 to 350 kbps download speed in torrents using reliance 3g here in CHD...

Providing data services at 20kbps is just terrible. Airtel guys have corrected their 3G tariff pages recently. Earlier they had written 30p/20kb, 15p/20kb and not KB :)

Hey, BSNL has now outsourced solving of broadband problems to a 3rd party. The guys who came to my place today were pretty smart. They changed the filter and my speeds are now back to normal.

So previous month i was charged SOD 33.33 rs.I complained that i was on airtel experience offer,they said that they will add the excess to the next month billing cycle.Today the new bill came and they added only rs30.

Asus India did setup an Mumbai-only ROG gaming event. It didn't catch my attention because I was under the impression What actually caught my attention was the second event:

Major brand names- Asus, Nvidia, Kingston, Roccat- tied up with DSK and GameSpace Lan centre in Andheri West, Mumbai- all togther for a 2 day Mumbai only event. Really great initiative and really nice way to promote gaming. I had to be there to see what's up but one of the Asus folks pinged me and I said "Yeah, sure why not!".

Morning: 10AM to Afternoon 4PM:
I've been/participated in many city tournaments so the first that comes in my mind is that it wouldn't matter much to miss the first few hours. Despite the horrible traffic, crowd, dust and...traffic, I managed to reach at Citi centre at about 10.45ish. Most of the things were setup, there were some Asus guys and they have already done the basic setups on the registration-cum-Demo table.


Yes!! Pretty good setups, but we'll get back to those later.

Asus and Game Space guys were setting up the systems to be playable with COD4 and FIFA 10. There was a bit of a conversation about FIFA 11 and why there's a white guy posing on a poster for and lan event in Mumbai, India (members from couple of forums atleast talked about it). This taken about 2 hours or so, because the Demo systems AND the lan centres that need to be prepared. 2 teams taking care of their own thing, but Asus decides to take me in (temporarily- without pay- unless you deem a free T-shirt and a veg sub as a pay for a Hard day's work media coverage+ Asus man+ PITA on occassions+ some guy occupying space around the lan centre).

Few people were already there but registration was started so it was all good:

Cable mess and morning chaos is the sign of good luck (apparently) in any lan events. Not much pressure but there few walls and obstacles- basic electric wiring, system not booting up, one of the system in the lan centre had a BSOD and well, for some strange reason the second Demo system was not able to run COD4. Yikes? Maybe! But Crysis: Warhead was on one system (reserve your hatred/skepticism of its "glory") and Need for speed: Hot pursuit- in 3D.

About the 2 systems being setup:

Demo system 1 is powered with Asus 3D Monitor and Nvidia 3D Glasses:

I think the monitor is an Asus VG236H panel which includes NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit. Just a simple observation as I had an opportunity to wear Sony's 3D glasses- Sony' glasses were heavy, but these were light and it does the job. If the games are 3D ready and you have armed your 3D ready monitor like this one with these glasses from Nvidia, 3D Glory. This was something that caught many people/non gamer's attention.


Meanwhile back in the lan centre..
Practice time was given till the time we got substantial amount of clans and players for COD4 and FIFA 10.

One common thing I heard is that they don't have a view screens to watch the games being played via spectator mode, well Asus guys put couple of screens out- 1 for Fifa 10 and for COD4:

There was a good number of clans (COD4) and players for FIFA 10 enrolled for the event, which was not bad since many are busy with exams and preps.
Techenclave's own "Toolius" was there. We seem like good people, but we ain't. Things we do for Company labelled Tees (as I said in my ranting blog ones- giveaways rule the show!!!)
He wasn't the only one- we both strapped on the tees. My designation got a little bit bigger when I did that.

We played NFS with the 3D glasses. Looked good enough. Toolius found it "blurry" so I explained him that if people who usually get high and see blurry images when they're not supposed to, they will see clear image if the actual scene is blurry. He laughed it out, but it turned out to be true!!!

Good times, been a while since I talked to him. He told me about what he was doing and it was very very exiciting to see toolius doing some crazy stuff. Will talk about his new initiative once I get it for evaluation.
Some were planning (with an ipad) and some really lost. Many were defeated so that few will win. Tomorrow is the finals and the cheques are waiting for he name of the champion (and for the amount):

I was testing Reliance 3G speed while downloading and to my surprise download speed never crossed 8KB/s i.e. 64 kbps.
Now back on Reliance 2G :)

OMG do update us what happens, i'm also looking to port my number but none of the other operators seem to be interested in getting my connection. Well Relaince seems the best in my area by what i've seen .
