Not a big fan of Priyanka Chopra. Movie looks interesting. But I cannot seriously digest Priyanka Chopra in the lead role.

Quit Tata Sky and Plan to Buy Videocon D2H

Buying Videocon D2H Connection? Feel free to use our affiliate link :|

Posted: 10 Jan 2011 10:17 AM PST

not a big fan of affiliate sales on this forum just for a simple reason. it sort of kills the independent nature of the forum (no connections or sponsorships with any company). that has been the reason, i refused advertising offer from tata docomo last year (it was not that lucrative anyways).

so i have to be careful to promote something like this around here.

Issue with crossing the monthly usage limit.

Posted: 10 Jan 2011 10:16 AM PST

May be a virus downloading in background or someone misusing your wifi connection. Use encryption for your wifi, wpa2 will be good. Install Bitmeter and check if there is any parallel download when you are idle.

Use a Bandwidth meter to keep and eye on your usage .Try one from Shaplus.

Which mode do you use ? PPPoE or Bridge ? In PPPoE you need to switch off the modem to disconnect internet. But it will be negligible if your PC is off.

Complain to SDE about unaccounted usage.

Sorry, you are quite right. I thought I had seen it only as 2014 in the original document but upon reading it it was 2012. Makes me even more skeptical that the targets will be reached considering it's taken over 6 years to get to 11 million now.

I think the figures are all inclusive... if they're talking about wired Broadband only, I'd be surprised if they even reach 20 million by 2012. I think this plan relies VERY heavily on 3G/BWA.

You gotta have goals.

That would be landing on the east coast where i guess there are less getaways. Will they be operating their Getaways by them selves or VSNL handles all the getaways ? i don't know much about how the getaways are managed, also whether they will be able to make some impact or not!

There are 2 major gateways on the east coast - one to Singapore, one to Sri Lanka. The Singapore one has I think 3 or 4 separate cable systems landing there, soon to be 5. VSNL usually gets a cut, whether they have any involvement in selling the capacity or not.

Unless everyone immediately decides to magically migrate from their existing SMW4 and i2i arrangements (which they are probably contractually bound to stay with for a certain period of time anyway), the effect on bandwidth prices will be gradual, especially since there is so little of the available capacity is actually lit up.

For players like us who have relatively short term contracts, we can avail services on the new cable rather immediately which, if their pricing is nice and their terms of service reasonable, would be beneficial both to us and to customers - I would hope that we would be able to offer data at Rs5 per GB (or less) instead of about Rs15 (we don't know yet) - then our data plans would be cheaper and, if we had any FUP, that would surely go up.
