66 Ford T Bird DV 10 RMM 01 1966 Ford ThunderbirdThe 1961-1963 Thunderbirds were known as the ‘Bullet Bird.’ This series was followed by another Thunderbird, and it too had another nickname – ‘Flair Bird’ or ‘Jet Bird.’ It had the same basic structure and dimensions as before, exterior styling was completely revised with a lengthened hood and a shortened formal roofline. Innovations for the new Thunderbird line were delayed, only reaching production in 1965. Disc brakes in the front were not standard until 1965, and the sequential rear turn signals were delayed due to approval delays in certain states. A number of engine options were available, offering several performance levels.

This Convertible example is one of 700 that were factory-fitted with the ‘Q’-Code, 428 cubic-inch ‘Thunderbird Special’ V8 engine delivering 345 horsepower. This option was priced at just .

This car is believed to be one of only about 75 1966 Thunderbird Convertibles equipped with the 428 V8 and factory air conditioning. It is finished in Signal Flare Red with a white leather interior. It is fully equipped with power options covering the seats, convertible top, vent windows, and a factory-installed StereoSonic music system with an 8-Track player.

Cadillac ULC Concept

According to Autocar, Cadillac may have a burning desire to lock horns with Mini. The site quotes designer Niki Smart as saying that the time is right for The Wreath and Crest to build a model akin to the company’s Urban Luxury Concept that we saw at this month’s LA Auto Show. His reasoning? The company needs metal that’s more appealing to European buyers than what’s available in the current lineup. That means a heavier focus on small, hatchback designs that still retain the premium Cadillac aesthetic. Smart seems to think that translates into a Mini Cooper fighter.

With its scissor doors and 78 mpg hybrid drivetrain, the Urban Luxury Concept isn’t any closer to production than the now-iconic Sixteen Concept of years past. Even so, Smart told Autocar that GM’s Advanced Design Studio has looked into ways to make the vehicle production ready, funky doors and all. While we aren’t exactly wild about the design of the ULC, the thought of a flingable Cadillac with a V on its hatch is certainly a notion worth mulling.

Peugeot 90X

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 06:36 PM PST

2011 Peugeot 90X LeMans Prototype 1 Peugeot 90XIt has been four years since Peugeot debuted its 908 HDi for competitive racing. There is not much development room left for the 908 without practically redesigning a whole new car. In some respects, the 908 fulfilled its mission to take the fight back to Audi. Audi would come to highly respect the ‘Lion’. But after four years and four attempts, Peugeot has yet to supplant the team of the four rings and their dominance at Le Mans. A new design needed to be made, especially with new regulation changes handed down the pike from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO). The new 90′X’ is what Peugeot believes to be the necessary answer to finally overcome the stranglehold Audi has had, at least at Le Mans.

Not much, if anything has been stated by Peugeot about designing a new car other than its hybrid idea back in 2009. But even that announcement appeared to have more to do with the internals of a 908, not a new car. But what was seen at Monza the early part of November was a new car bearing a resemblance to the 908, but with some major differences. These differences give away some of the other changes Peugeot has already made, or are planning to make, before next season gets underway.
