Red Bull X1 full-size model – Click above for image gallery Polyphony’s Gran Turismo games tread the line between fantasy and reality with the balance of a trapeze artist. Not only are the games themselves a close approximation of reality, but once in a while, reality jumps out of the digital world and into the tangible. A couple of years ago the game’s creators worked with the French automaker to give birth to the GTbyCitroën – a supercar designed specifically for the game. But then they made it into a concept car and put it on display. And while it never came to be, they even considered a limited production run. The latest collaboration brought the recently-crowned world champion Red Bull Racing team on board for the X1 prototype. Again, an extreme high-performance vehicle designed specifically for the game – this time a vision of what an F1 car could be if not for all the pesky regulations. Initial reports that the car is powered by a turbine engine are now being corrected to an F1-derived, direct-injection, twin-turbo V6. Fortunately, the 1483-horsepower output remains. Actually building the X1 into a functioning track car would be a little pointless and undoubtedly extremely expensive, but they have made a full-size mock-up that will be unveiled during the game’s launch party, scheduled (don’t hold your breath) for Madrid in a few weeks’ time. Here’s hoping GT5 can follow that same fantasy-to-reality trajectory and land in our hands on (the revised and revised again) schedule. Gallery: Red Bull X1 prototype model

| Posted: 10 Nov 2010 08:19 PM PST Futuristic Bugatti Stratos Concept The mesmerizing Buggati Stratos created by the French graphic designer affirms that it is favorable to let go the tech spec considerations to create a gem of a design. Bruno was inspired by the ever so beautiful Buggati Type 57 Atlantic and that inspiration did help him weave magic. Some design cues were also picked up from the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Mille Miglia (for the front end) and Raymond Loewy's locomotive designs. I must say that it for the first time I don't really bother whether the Stratos will ever make the cut or not.

Notably, the new model drops Alfa Romeo V6 for 420-hp Maserati 4.2L V8 engine with 6-speed sequential gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheels. Vertigo.5 goes from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds due to its lighter design with ultra-lightweight carbon-fiber honeycomb monocoque with double wishbones. If you’re thinking this for Holiday, though the price haven’t been revealed, you can refer to 5,000 of the old Vertigo, anyways, got more photos after the break.

| Mercedes Benz Fascination Concept Car Posted: 10 Nov 2010 01:37 PM PST Mercedes Benz showed off its new Fascination concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It was a fastback or shooting brake styled coupe with the roofline staying high like an estate giving very generous space in the back of the car. In reality the Fascination concept previewed the forthcoming new e-class range, having the identical front end to the production cars, and rear styling close to that of the estate, and in being a coupe itself also hinted that Mercedes would release a new E-class coupe too, which they inevitably did. The concept car used a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine with twin turbochargers to push power to 204 horsepower whilst keeping very low emissions.
