2012 Buick Regal GS Sedan Image 1 2012 Buick Regal GS Production Model Takes Sports Sedan Performance to a New Level for BuickBuick this evening reveals the production version of the 2012 Regal GS, an even sportier expression of the Regal sport sedan that went on sale earlier this year and has attracted new buyers to the Buick family. Powered by a high-output, exclusive Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the GS delivers an estimated 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 295 lb.-ft. of torque for a 0-60 mph performance of less than seven seconds (estimated). Buick’s Interactive Drive Control System is standard on the GS, allowing drivers to customize the driving experience by changing the suspension settings and steering sensitivity between three modes: standard, sport and GS.

‘Built on the performance foundation of the Regal, the Regal GS was designed as an even sportier expression of responsive performance and style,’ said John Schwegman, vice president of Buick marketing. ‘The driving experience is powerful and spirited; and the GS represents the next entry in Buick’s product renaissance.’

To save the environment, more and more auto makers are moving into making hybrid-electric vehicles the type of vehicles that can feed on bio oil and use batteries alternatively, which the main objective is to improve fuel efficiency. Now, Toyota, as the leader of green auto makers, has announced that it’d build its first plug-in hybrid car by 2010. The plug-in hybrid is different from the current hybrid models, which allows recharging of the batteries from any ordinary power outlet. Conventional hybrids are recharged by power generated by the wheels.

The plug-in hybrid vehicle that is to be developed by Toyota, will run on lithium-ion batteries, instead of the nickel-metal hydride batteries that power the Prius and other Toyota models. The plug-in hybrid and lithium-ion powered vehicles are said to be capable of achieving fuel efficiency of 99.9 miles-per-gallon in electric mode. But it can only go up to 7 miles on pure battery power.

Toyota will unveil the models that will have plug-in hybrid versions available at the 2009 Detroit auto show. The new lithium-ion-equipped vehicles will first be made available to Toyota’s commercial customers â€" such as government agencies and corporations.

The announcement of Toyota is seen as a strong competitor to GM, which has also announced that they’d produce their own plug-ins around the same time.

Mercedes Benz Fascination Concept Car

Posted: 04 Nov 2010 04:51 PM PDT

Mercedes Benz showed off its new Fascination concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It was a fastback or shooting brake styled coupe with the roofline staying high like an estate giving very generous space in the back of the car.

In reality the Fascination concept previewed the forthcoming new e-class range, having the identical front end to the production cars, and rear styling close to that of the estate, and in being a coupe itself also hinted that Mercedes would release a new E-class coupe too, which they inevitably did.

The concept car used a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine with twin turbochargers to push power to 204 horsepower whilst keeping very low emissions.

Once upon a time, Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari travelled to the Caribbean for a Red Bull Formula One demonstration. Alguersuari wowed 200,000 spectators at the event held in the Dominican Republic’s capital, Santo Domingo, before taking to the beach.

On a hot Sunday in May, Alguersuari headed to the beach, becoming the first Formula One driver to race on sand at 180 km/h. The 20 year-old was in action on the beautiful Juanillo-Cap Cana beach. This was the result….
