SEMA 2010: Chevrolet Corvette Jake Edition Concept is one sinister tribute Posted: 02 Nov 2010 10:07 PM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, SEMA Show, Coupe, Performance, Chevrolet, GM 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Jake Edition Concept – Click above for high-res image gallery Jake has quickly become, to the Corvette Racing team, what the Cavallino Rampante is to Ferrari. That skull logo was started off as a discreet emblem back in 2005 and has since come to symbolize the team’s spirit. Chevrolet is now recognizing the iconic icon with the 2011 Corvette Jake Edition Concept. Chevy started with a Grand Sport coupe then set to work adding Jake-themed touches both inside and out. The black paint is offset nicely by the Competition Gray Z06 wheels and GT1 Championship Edition Jake-logo hood graphic. Those wheels also feature Jake center caps, as do the fenders. Moving to the interior, Jake’s mug can be found on the floor mats and the console lid. For now, the vehicle remains a concept as some of the accessories have not been put into production. However, they are planned for future release, so stay tuned, Jake fans. Ford Motor Company is tapping the 2010 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas to showcase nine customized versions of Mustang, displaying the vehicles alongside the new Mustang Boss 302. While the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is sure to impress visitors at the Ford stand, a variety of Mustangs on display also will give consumers an idea of the endless possibilities for making it a one-of-a-kind pony car. "People understand Mustang and they fall in love with the emotion of the car, but at the same time they want to bring a little of their individuality to the table," said Melvin Betancourt, Ford design manager. "So if you're a Mustang enthusiast looking to set your Mustang apart from others, SEMA is like going into a toy store full of inspirational imagery. At the end of the day you have a Mustang that reflects the personality of the customer's vision." This Mustang GT has a look all its own A Mustang GT by Ford Vehicle Personalization shows what can be fashioned using Ford Custom Accessories items and some serious creativity. The exterior of the car is coated in a custom white tri-coat color developed by Sherwin-Williams. The paint has coral undertones, a color used throughout the car. "This theme is a perfect fit for Mustang – it really shows off the design features inside and out that set it apart from the rest," said Mark Conforzi, Ford Vehicle Personalization chief designer. "This Mustang works so well because it will let the customer's imagination run wild with just how much they can do to their car." Ford Custom Accessories items are used to give consumers a sense of what can be done with Mustang, and include a rear pedestal spoiler, rear quarter window louvers, side scoops and a billet grille – all covered in a concept liquid silver finish. SEMA 2010: Ford Police Interceptor Stealth Concept will haunt the dreams of speeders everywhere Posted: 02 Nov 2010 02:25 PM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, Ford, Police/Emergency Ford Police Interceptor Stealth Concept – Click above for high-res image gallery While we should be excited to see Ford show off a new, updated cop car, the Police Interceptor Stealth Concept already has us checking our rear-view mirrors. The full details on this cop cruiser were released yesterday, but seeing it under the bright lights at SEMA only serves to kick up the nervous anxiety to 11. The man behind the car, Ford designer Melvin Betancourt, says he drew inspiration from the SR-71 Blackbird stealth plane. The blacked-out finish and hidden blue and reds, coupled with the potential for hosting a 365-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 under the hood are more than enough to cause speed-limit scofflaws to think twice about pushing harder on that gas pedal. It’s not only the outside that incorporates the idea of stealth design. The interior features a police radio hidden in the console, along with the on-board computer and the glove box has a hidden space to hide weapons. Slow down and check out the Stealth concept in our high-res gallery, below.
