BMW’s dontblogaboutthis.com car revealed on forum Posted: 08 Sep 2010 12:13 PM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, Spy Photos, Coupe, Etc., Marketing/Advertising, Paris Motor Show, BMW, Rumormill, Specialty dontblogaboutthis BMW – Click above for high-res image gallery Yesterday we brought you a few strange images and even weirder videos showcasing an odd BMW. Today, more images have hit the web, proving this is more than a BMW 6 Series with skinny tires and a missing tailpipe. The car may be wearing 6 Series skin from the a-pillar back, but the front is a different animal. It appears to be similar to the face found on the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept vehicle. There are a lot of ways these “spy shots” can be perceived. The above image and the extremely quiet running sound from the clips certainly led us to believe this car is utilizing a new EfficientDynamics powertrain. This would mean the above mash-up mobile is powered by a 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder diesel as well as a pair of electric motors set on the axles. A viral campaign complete with dark photographs of a mysterious vehicle? It must be auto show season! The Paris Motor Show is right around the corner and we hope someone BMW will be ready to spill their precision-engineered beans. Vauxhall GTC concept completely revealed ahead of Paris Motor Show debut Posted: 08 Sep 2010 09:35 AM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, Vauxhall 2010 Vauxhall GTC Concept – Click above for high-res image gallery Vauxhall has beaten the speculating voices of the Internet to the Paris Motor Show punch by pulling the covers off of its GTC Concept well ahead of the main event. According to the company, what you see above is likely to have more than a little influence on the next Astra Sport Hatch. In classic concept style, the GTC rolls on epic 21-inch wheels that aren’t likely to find their way to the production version of the car any time soon. That’s not to say that this creation is pure fantasy, though. For one thing, there’s a direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine snugged under the hood, complete with a functioning start/stop system and a six-speed manual gearbox. That choice of powerplant seems a little too realistic to just be a show-circuit folly, so our guess is that the Astra Sport Hatch will likely boast similar hardware when it hits the road to take on cars like the Volkswagen Scirocco. Hit the jump for the full press release and check out the gallery for a closer look. Vauxhall will show off the GTC Concept in Paris starting on September 30, and we’ll be on-hand to give you live shots and impressions of its reveal. Video: Mazda Shinari concept and Kodo-fied Mazda3 make the scene Posted: 08 Sep 2010 08:31 AM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, Sedan, Videos, Paris Motor Show, Mazda Mazda Shinari Concept – Click above to watch video after the jump We’re going to go ahead and say it: of all of the companies out there, few demonstrate a command of the concept car quite like Mazda. While most manufacturers seem to be eschewing the concept in favor of thinly-veiled production vehicles, Mazda continues to tantalize the imaginations of onlookers with cars like the Furai. Now, it looks like the company is planning to turn away from its somewhat controversial (read: smiley) Nagare design language in favor of a new theme. Mazda is calling it Kodo, meaning “soul of motion,” and if the Shanari Concept is any indication of what we can expect from future models, we’re sold. Mazda has just rolled out a couple of videos that show off the company’s new look. The first features a CG Shanari rolling through crowded city streets, tunnels and the rolling tarmac of what we assume to be the Japanese countryside. The second gives us an idea of what a Kodo-fied Mazda3 might look like. Hit the jump for a quick look see. Secret Peugeot caught in photo shoot? Posted: 08 Sep 2010 07:51 AM PDT Filed under: Concept Cars, Spy Photos, Peugeot A small throng of suspicious-acting people with a camo’d mystery car can’t help but attract attention. Expecting privacy in a public area near a busy shopping mall while shooting the unknown car is also rather presumptuous. Thus, despite the efforts of the staff on hand (including threats of lawsuits), bystanders managed to get photos of this Peugeot… something. The small-statured vehicle with a bold stance may be well-covered in these photographs, but our money is on it being the EX1 concept that’s expected to debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show. It’s about the right size and shape to be the 2012 Peugeot 208, as well, but the heftier-than-normal wheels make the concept car a much more likely prospect. If the EX1 doesn’t appear in Paris later this month, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for a Peugeot ad that looks like it was shot in an Icelandic parking lot.
