Need New Wireless Router With Good Range

Posted: 26 May 2014 11:33 PM PDT

My present Router is WRT54G. It does not have good signal in other room at the farthest end.

Suggest some good Wireless router with proper coverage, preferably supporting 3G dongle and Chromecast.

The modem is at one end of my home, hence the issue with the present router.

Posted: 26 May 2014 11:09 PM PDT

Hello!

Recently i shifted from my BSNL connection to ACT broadband.  The customer care official sad that the feasibility of establishing a wifi connection through my modem/router is questionable. They however said they can establish a wired connection.  He didnt know how to configure my existing modem/Router.

Can you let me know whether i can estabish a wifi hotspot/connection with the below modem/router?

When will BSNL launch new broadband plans?

Posted: 26 May 2014 10:44 PM PDT

hi Guys,

Its frustrating that BSNL is yet to launch truly unlimited 1/2/4 Mbps plans for < 1500Rs. Its perpetually offering 512Kbps speeds from last 4-5 years. Not only that, they are not even offering speed boost say after 6pm like MTNL does. Its not only about downloading torrents. Even if i want to watch Youtube files, I am not able to with 512kbps. They should start offering speed boost to 2/4Mbps at 6pm to 8am slot if offering the same at daytime is not possible. What can we do in this situation ? Can we all raise a CRM ticket at selfcare portal to demand this ?

VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan - Email/Uploader

Use this tool to upload the file where it is checked with multiple antivirus engines. if the file is reported as safe by majority, it should be safe!

If the file you want to check was already uploaded by someone else, you would not be required to upload it again!

MTNL Broadband is inserting Adphonso powered malware and advertisements on all customer devices

Posted: 26 May 2014 08:45 PM PDT

I have MTNL ADSL broadband in Delhi. Today I saw this popup on the side when I connected online (I removed my telephone number from the image):

XpK9E7W.jpg

After looking for the inserted code, I discovered that MTNL is inserting iframes inside the webpages!

The popup is being loaded from http://www.adphonso.com/testmtnl.php?CSID=22221504@mtnl

(I changed the telephone number in the URL above) More scrips are inserted from MTNL address 203.94.243.40

The adphonso website belongs to an adversiting company and that is a big problem :(

Are you guys seeing this sort of popups too? If yes, do you think is it safe?

I think this way inserting codes inside webpages is not good for the privacy of users.

Resetting router after power off?

Posted: 26 May 2014 06:20 PM PDT

Hello Guys. I'm new here.. I've recently got a new Beam Fiber connection and the 15mbps plan rocks with 50GB FUP. However, I had to purchase a wireless router. went for dlink. i setup the router and everything works perfectly. but when the laptop is turned off and turned on again, the wireless network gets connected, but it says "No internet access"

My Ip configuration is automatic. nothing is static. The only way i could fix this is by connecting my laptop to the router again via the LAN port and then factory resetting the router. And then I will setup the router and it will manually detect my ISP and gets connected..

I have to keep doing this all the time. And its ANNOYING! the ISP is great. I know I'm doing something wrong.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

MS staff

There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away."

Is Windows a virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
They replicate quickly Okay, Windows does that

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so okay, Windows does that

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk Okay, Windows does that, too

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems Sigh... Windows does that, too

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware Yup, that's with Windows, too

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature

So, Windows is *not* a virus
