Docomo to BSNL

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 10:21 AM PST

Hello guys,

I got my UPC on 13th Nov 2013 and on the same day, I went to BSNL's office and submitted the docs, filled the form and got the new sim.

That lady was not bothered to answer me properly, she was like, once this sim is off, add the new sim.

I know all that.

My question is, I've read it on various blogs and sites that you should receive some acceptance sms from docomo that I'll be ported to BSNL.

I haven't received any sms yet. Been 3 days.

Any one knowing anything regarding this?

Thanks

Cheers!

How to configure tikona with adsl2+ router (Dlink DSL-2750U)

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 09:35 AM PST

Hi,

Recently I bought Dlink DSL-2750U modem+router for home use. I want to configure this router but router WAN port accepts RJ11 cable.

And tikona has RJ45 cable.

So anybody can suggest solution for this problem?

Also this router has USB port for connecting internet dongles.

Thanks,
Amit Mande

Nextra - Fiber to the Building in NCR!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 08:26 AM PST

I believe this thread belongs here. Many here would know that I have been a Spectranet user for some time now. The prime reason I had gone with them was because they had no FUP - that was in fact their USP, apart from the fact that their plans were pretty cheap (1 kbps unlimited without FUP for 599). That, until this September. That month, not only did they increase their rates - still competitive enough at 749 for 1000 kbps unlimited, BUT with a freaking FUP of 25 GB, and a post FUP speed of a damned 256kbps. The underdogs had joined hands with the biggies.

I persisted due to lack of a better alternatives till I saw small adverts of this company called Nextra. They claimed to be providing 100 Mbps. It got me interested and I checked their website out for plans. The first thing that hit me was the similarity they had in their approach to designing plans with that of Hayai - speed + usage. There were no unlimited plans but at least they gave the option of buying additional GBs for a moderately acceptable amount. Being fiber, I checked availability, and as luck would have it, my society was one of those which was 'enabled'. Contacted them, gave the 500 deposit (adjusted against first month bill) and took the 10Mbps plan with a 15 GB top up for a total of 30GB (this can be changed every month on demand). All at 1399 + taxes. I don't mind. Seriously. Symmetric speed is totally worth it. Once the usage limit is reached (in my case 30 GB), I can either buy more GBs, or get 'downgraded' for the rest of the month to 512kbps. Better than 256kbps, and like I said, fiber is totally worth it.

Since people are curious, screenshot below (notice the distance from location), and website link at the end.

I am curious though as to how they provide the IPs. I am currently shown to be in London and do have some problems accessing some India specific content on YouTube, however I can work those around so they aren't a show stopper for me.

MTNL redefining my a$$

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 08:16 AM PST

I hit my FUP today. Porn, linux, TV shows, HD youtube streaming. God knows what else came to my computer through that malnourished copper wire. The point is I had made it my mission to hit the FUP limit.

Being the first one to check out if MTNL has implemented the new post FUP speeds here is my speed now:

3102639247.png

That is Vodafone Mumbai server. On rest of the servers, the speedtest is not even completing and getting stuck midway. Currently most sites are not browse-able. This site opened after multiple refreshes.

Be careful to not go over your FUP especially those on VDSL and 8 Mbps ADSL plans.

MTNL VDSL Installation queries

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 06:56 AM PST

I'm a MTNL triband user and thinking to shift to VDSL.

Have some queries:

1. What are the installation charges including the set up, the wiring and the one-time deposits?

2. Is it necessary to keep a telephone or can I get rid of it as nobody uses land-line here. If I cannot get rid of it, then what's the monthly charge for the telephone?

3. What is the monthly charge for the VDSL wireless router?
