help for dc++ newbie

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 11:56 AM PDT

Hey guys i'm a MTNL user, I was planning to switch to cable connection(5net).
I have a few a questions would you please mind replying!
using DC++ will cost me extra then my normal plan charges or it's included in my plan fee?or does it work with specific plans only?
does DC++ provide same speed on all Hubs? or we get speed only from the nearby hubs? (i mean if i download some stuff from US hub, will i get the same speed as i would get from 5net hub in malad east where I stay?)
Can I get dc++ hubs on other ISPs? Like sify?
i am eagerly waiting for your reply...thanks in advance

How much Bandwidth do you consume each month ?

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 11:54 AM PDT

Okay, Guys here we go, My first month with BSNL broadband. Which is quite popular for its penniless service, has helped me break my previous record (70GB),  I have topped  100GB mark for the first time ever in my internet history, I know it sounds a bit childish but i am very excited to share this, I have been on crappy (fuped) 256kbps connection for nearly 7 years.

bsnlfirstmonth_zps6b132cbf.png

As per my calculation , you can download around 150GB in 31days @512kbps (Speed should have  to be constant throughtout the month) SO IIMO 102GB is very reasonable number considering i usually get around 45-55kB at peak hours instead of 64kBps.

What do you say ?

You guys could also  share your own record below (Please don't mix up download&upload, make them seperate), please include your internet speed too.

Microsoft Office for Android

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 11:26 AM PDT

Microsoft brings Office Mobile to Android smartphones

The once-mythical Office Mobile for iPhone has been available for a while, but what about that rumored Android version? As of today, it's equally real: Microsoft has launched Office Mobile for Android. Its cloud-focused approach to editing Excel, PowerPoint and Word documents will be familiar to those who've tried the iOS release, including SkyDrive storage support. What differences exist are there primarily to accommodate Google's Holo interface guidelines -- as on iOS, there's no tablet-native interface. The pricing certainly hasn't changed. While the core app is free, you'll need an Office 365 subscription to start working.

Tata Sky DTH now replacing MPEG2 STBs with MPEG4 STBs for free!

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 11:09 AM PDT

We are replacing close to 5-6 million MPEG-2 SD STBs at no cost to consumers over the next year. All of this is coming in from internal accruals.

But you need to wait for one more year to see many new channels

We have been adding channels in a phased manner; the process will now be accelerated with the MPEG-4 STB. By June-July next year we should be able to revise our channel offerings to consumers,

Want a new wired internet connection in thane west

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 10:57 AM PDT

I am currently a user of reliance netconnect. I have a 10GB night & 3 GB day plan. I get an avg speed of 40-50 kbps. In the night, it is worse. I'm sick of slow speed of reliance, and want to get a wired internet connection. I live in Thane west, brahmand area. I want an isp which could give 2-4mbps at least (but comforms to its promise). My monthly usage would be around 20 GB. And bugdet would be about 800-100 bucks. I'm confused between MTNL and 5Net. There's also 1&1broadband, available in my area. i want to know about 5Net & MTNL, its speed consistency, downtime and disconnections. I've never used wired internet before, so, pls help me out with this. And, one more thing, I dont know anything about DC++? I heard 5Net offers it. It would be really helpful if you tell me about all of this?

Suits (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Finished first season. It reminds me of two shows... First Collar on how it is presented. Mad Men because the character of Harvey Specter is so freaking similar to Don Draper.

The problem is that Specter is like 5% of what Draper is. It just does not feel solid enough. When Draper talks, you listen. When Specter talks, you hope that he would say something that would impress you. Sadly, it does not happen very often.

Why this thread?

So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread...

Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread...

Will start with one post

Demand for Gorkhaland begins

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 07:50 AM PDT

Now everyone wants his/her own state. Disgusting.

An indefinite bandh has been called in Darjeeling Hills by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) from Saturday to press its demand for a separate Gorkhaland state, a day after Congress and its allies unanimously decided to create Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.

"If there can be a Telangana state then why not a Gorkhaland? We are demanding that our 107-year-old legitimate demand (for a separate state) be fulfilled," GJM general secretary and spokesman Roshan Giri told reporters after a party core committee meeting here today.

Source

Apparently it seems Mamta Bannerjee doesn't want this to happen. Finally, she is doing something good.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleged on Wednesday that the UPA government had promised some Gorkha leaders that they (Centre) will convert Darjeeling into an Union territory and some Union ministers had encouraged Gorkha leaders to renew their movement in Darjeeling demanding a separate state.

"A few days back, some Union minister had summoned one or two Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) leaders and advised them to organise movement in Darjeeling by renewing their old demand for a separate Gorkha state. These ministers had also promised the GJM leaders that the Centre will convert Darjeeling into an Union territory."

"The GJM is now holding their agitation in Darjeeling by citing the Centre's move to accept the demand for a separate Telengana state. I condemn that Centre as I feel some Congress ministers are trying to split India into several regions. Demand for a Telengana state is an old issue and the Congress has picked it up just before the next parliamentary elections," the chief minister told reporters.

Mayawati: Divide Uttar Pradesh into four new states

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 06:04 AM PDT

"We welcome the Telangana decision, the BSP has always supported a separate Telangana. Our party has always advocated smaller states and governance units," she said at a press conference.

She said Uttar Pradesh should be divided into four smaller states - Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh and Pashchim Pradesh.

"When this population is divided between four states, development will increase," she said.

"Ministers in central government who hail from Uttar Pradesh should build pressure on the central government for formation of these states," she added.

She added her party has been demanding this for a long time.

Former Champ: Schu could return to racing

Saturday 1st December 2007

Former F1 Champion Alan Jones reckons Michael Schumacher may be considering a comeback after an impressive test at Barcelona two week's ago.

Although Schumacher retired from F1 at the end of the 2006 season, the German returned to action with Ferrari at the Spanish track in the first of the winter tests.

The seven-time World Champion proved to be the man to beat as he dominated the timesheets during his two days of testing.

And although Schumacher has stated many times that his test does not mean he will be making a competitive comeback, Jones reckons the thought has to have crossed Schumi's mind.

"After nearly a year out of the saddle, I can image him thinking, 'Maybe I'd like to have another go.' It must be just like coming back from an extended Christmas break," Jones told Autosport.

"He used to take a couple of months off at the end of each season, so another few months won't make a big difference. Two or three years might have done.

"It's a win-win situation: Ferrari gains from his expertise and he enjoys it. And you can never rule out a comeback - he might be thinking, 'I'm really enjoying this!' Money won't be his motivation, it will be to prove a point.

"Niki Lauda was out for several seasons and came back and won the title. Michael could do the same."

Schumacher misses Massa's wedding day

Dec.3 (GMM) A representative for Michael Schumacher has played down speculation that he may have fallen out with his former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa.

In the presence of many of his Ferrari colleagues, 26-year-old married his fiancee Rafaela Bassi, who is 27, in Sao Paulo last Friday, according to reports from Brazil and Italy.

Among the 800 guests were team bosses Jean Todt and Stefano Domenicali, as well as Mario Almondo, Aldo Costa and Luca Baldisserri -- but not Schumacher, his 2006 teammate.

Massa's countryman Rubens Barrichello also attended, reports said.

Days earlier, the former seven time world champion, Schumacher, won a karting event hosted by Massa in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis.

The German newspaper Bild am Sonntag said Schumacher had celebrated Massa's impending marriage with his former teammate and friend in the days prior.

A representative for Schumacher said: "Michael is currently in the United States for a family vacation."

Very slow speeds on MTNL FTTH Fibre Network

Posted: 31 Jul 2013 03:32 AM PDT

For the last 3 days, I am getting speeds of 0.2 - 0.5 Mbps. While last week I was getting 9.8 dl / 4.8 ul.

I spoke with 2 people at MTNL. One mentioned that I had crossed the free usage cap, which is rubbish as when I checked with another person, I am well under it. The 2nd guy mentioned getting all the joints checked between my building and the exchange.

Anyone else in the same predicament?
