Hello,

I am new to this site and i really hope i cud get some help on bsnl wimax. I am using Airtel BB (wired) and i m happy with its service and support except its fup. I m using airtel for 3 yrs and i hardly rememeber a day without internet connection. I m on 1199 plan but 15 GB is not enough and post usage speed (256 kbps) is driving me to switch ISP for a better plan at this cost. Now, i am relocating from saidapet to pallikaranai. BSNL exchange is there in pallikaranai.

How to upgrade to Windows 8 for just Rs. 699

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:30 PM PST

I dont know if anyone already posted about this loophole.Microsoft had announced that those who bought a Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012, and January 31, 2013 are eligible for a further discount and can actually upgrade for a meagre Rs699. Microsoft letting users with pirated Windows 7/XP to upgrade to Windows 8 for rs 699.
1. Go to this official site Windows Upgrade Offer - Landing Page ,even if you are on pirated windows it does not matter.
2. The WindowsUpgradeOffer page requires people to enter some extremely basic details about their Windows 7 PC purchase. It neither asks for a serial number nor Windows 7 key,put date of purchase after 2nd june.
3. Once the details are submitted, user will get a confirmation email about the registration.
4. Within a few minutes, another email with the promo code is sent to the same email address.
5. This promo code can be used to purchase the Windows 8 Pro edition via the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant app for a nominal fee of rs 699.
Finally i think it was intentional from microsoft to get more legit users and to sell more win 8. They already know this very well. A very big enterprise cannot skip a thing like this but they are intentionally allowing this thing.

Tikona Broadband User Experiences

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:12 PM PST

Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience.

They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me.

I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them.

So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated.

Shoddy and incompetent customer support

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:09 PM PST

I signed up for a 12Mbps connection 4 days back and the connection got installed 2 days back. The speed of the link is abysmal. 100kbps download and 70kbps upload as per Reliance Broadband's speedometer themselves.

I call up their customer support and speak to a guy called Lokesh. Let me reproduce the conversation.

Me: I've signed up for a 12Mbps connection and am not getting speeds beyond 100kbps.
Lokesh: Go to Start>> run.. cmd and give ipconfig.
Me: I'm using a wireless router.
Lokesh: Please remove the router and connect directly. You will then get the speeds (Huh!!)
Me: Can you explain to me why the wireless router should affect speeds?
Lokesh: That is what happens.

Me: Ok. I removed the router and connected directly, now what?
Lokesh: open cmd window and give ipconfig /flushdns. Open browser and delte browsing history and cache.
Me: Again, can you tell me how this will affect speeds?
Lokesh: DNS will affect speeds that you get. ( Wow!!)
Me: Are you a technical guy?
Lokesh: Yes, I know networking. Please give ipconfig /renew and reboot the machine!!!!
Me: I'm using reliance broadband's speedtest and not some external site and so all this should not matter one bit.

Me: Can you see the DSLAM configuration and see if there is a cap on DSL speed?
Lokesh: I'll log in a call and our technical guys will resolve the problem in 24 hours.

This is the quality of support Reliance has. Downright stupid and dumb guys who know nothing of networking. God...

BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry Z10: first BlackBerry 10 handset pictured in black, white » Unwired View

According to the marketing material pictured below, obtained by a reliable source, RIM is jettisoning the traditional four-digit model numbers in favor of a shorter, catchier nomenclature; the full-touch device, currently known by its "L-series" designation, should come to market as the BlackBerry Z10, in both black and white.
