BTW I would suggest keep your PC connected the way it is now & don't waste money on a dongle. WiFi is basically used for mobile units like your laptop/phone/tablet etc. Read Socrates carefully especially about setting the passwords for wifi & its security. What MTNL uses for password for wifi is a joke & is basically to make their life easier if they have to come & make changes to your router settings. The unit you have is labelled as Beetel but actually a Chinese unit. lol
Your attennuation is too high & if snr goes <10 you will get disconnections. I am surprised the SDE says the line is ok.

lol....i was fearing this....hehe....never mind. i am already thinking of getting a DLink or TP-link model, as just now came to know that my router is a 'g' based one and not very good at streaming media content. if i don't surrender this unit, is there any option by way of which i could use this modem as some kind of add-on with DLink/TP-link unit?

and thanks for the link! will read up. also, i will get an electrician to get the wiring thing done. MTNL has already raised their hands. though now the connection is rock stable, but the onset of monsoons, nothing is predictable.

Found out that acttv was available in that area, so decided to go with them. as usual it took over 18 days from paying the deposit and signing the agreement for the connection to be completely operational. but so far no problems with them.

Videocon D2H HD DVR DTH: HD DVR not available?

Yep. After hearing the confirmed sort of comments from various people, even i have now stopped complaining about technical issues in it. I know whatever is with us, we haev to manage with that or downgrade to non-recorder....which is not possible now. All we can do is - hope that new model is launched soon. Once that happens, all we need to do is create a ruckus around the issues we face with old DVRs, and they will be compelled to provide us the new ones free of cost. In fact if the Management is wise enuf, they will come out with that offer themselves, in order to earn name!
