DIR 524 dlink router configuration problem Posted: 28 Feb 2012 11:10 AM PST I have recently bought a DIR 524 router of dlink brand. My broadband company is Alliance broadband. A software person from the Alliance company came to my home and configured the router and set up a connection with password so that I can use internet on my PC as well as my laptop at the same time. It worked well for 3-4 days, however after that it started showing "error in connection". When I called the Alliance engineer, he said that there is no problem with the internet connection and that there is problem in the router. He also showed me that the internet connection is okay by connecting the broadband cable directly with the lan card. I want to know how to check the setting with the router and check where is the problem in connecting with the router? please tell me in details as i hardly know much about router connection. |

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 10:29 AM PST well building a NAS maybe be cheap in the start but when you start upgrading hdds and raid cards then what kind of power you have give to it, it is bloody expensive :| it depends on the number of hdds you have in it and what kind of raid you use, and you don't have to build a desktop for it, i just build the tower and unplug the screen after setting it up but yeah it takes time and you do have to bang your head couple of times , running windows is lame , run linux , just mentioned windows cause OP seems new to this. @op , yes you can rdp or vnc with a dynamic ip using DDNS which will resolve your current ip to the dns of NAS, but it is better to have a static ip, and if your whole purpose is for torrents why go through all this hassle just buy a seedbox do your torrenting from it , ftp whatever you need to your home p.c. NAS is for storage when you have 5 to 25 tbs of hdd 's and you to need to remotely stream or get your stuff, then you build yourself one, otherwise just use a seedbox ! |
