Tata Nano Goes Public In Big Bazaar! Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:38 PM PDT Quote: Tata Motors has struck a deal with the Future Group to sell the Nano through the Group's Big Bazaar consumer retail network. This tie-up is a first-of-its-kind move in the country's passenger car segment. (The ITC-promoted e-choupal initiative for farmers displayed tractors at its rural malls) The Nano will be displayed at 120 of Big Bazaar's 148 outlets where prospective buyers who book it will get gifts such as gold coins, and vouchers worth Rs 1,500. For Tata Motors, the tie-up is an additional sales channel that brings in an estimated 18 million footfalls every month. For the Future Group, this is a way to explore the business potential of adding a vehicle to its range of products. Nano sales have picked up since December 2010 after the company announced a four-year warranty for existing and new customers. The company sold 8,262 Nanos in February which made it to the top 10 cars in terms of sales after a five-month gap. Another good marketing strategy by TATA.. |
Best Antivirus Application - Suite Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:30 PM PDT Quote: This year marks the 40th anniversary of Creeper, the world's first computer virus. From Creeper to Stuxnet, the last four decades saw the number of malware instances boom from 1,300 in 1990, to 50,000 in 2000, to over 200 million in 2010. Besides sheer quantity, viruses, which were originally used as academic proof of concepts, quickly turned into geek pranks, then evolved into cybercriminal tools. By 2005, the virus scene had been monetized, and virtually all viruses were developed with the sole purpose of making money via more or less complex business models. In the following story, FortiGuard Labs looks at the most significant computer viruses over the last 40 years and explains their historical significance. 1971: Creeper: catch me if you can While theories on self-replicating automatas were developed by genius mathematician Von Neumann in the early 50s, the first real computer virus was released "in lab" in 1971 by an employee of a company working on building ARPANET, the Internet's ancestor. Intriguing feature: Creeper looks for a machine on the network, transfers to it, displays the message "I'm the creeper, catch me if you can!" and starts over, thereby hoping from system to system. It was a pure proof of concept that ties the roots of computer viruses to those of the Internet. 1982: Elk Cloner Written by a 15-year old as a way to booby trap his friends' Apple II computer systems without physical access to them, Elk Cloner spread via floppy disks. Infected machines displayed a harmless poem, dedicated to the virus' glory. Intriguing feature: Elk Cloner was the first virus ever to spread outside of the lab it was created in. Its global impact was negligible and its intent plainly geeky. 1987: Jerusalem First detected in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the aptly-named Jerusalem is somewhat deleterious. Each year on Friday the 13th, this virus deleted every single program that's run on the infected system. Intriguing feature: Jerusalem is the first example of a destructive virus to have a global impact. Of course, the sheer number of computers back then was infinitesimal, compared to today. 1992: Michelangelo: The sleeper must awaken The dormant Michelangelo virus was designed to awaken on March 6th (Michelangelo's birthday as in the Renaissance artist, not the Ninja Turtle) and erase critical parts of infected computers' hard drives. Intriguing feature: The promises of destruction it carried spawned a media frenzy. In the weeks preceding March 6th, media relayed (and some may say amplified) experts' predictions forecasting 5 million computers going definitively down. Yet, on March 6th, only a few thousand data losses were reported and public trust in AV companies' ethics was tainted for a while. |

Difference between Upscaled and a true HD channel?? Posted: 16 Mar 2011 11:20 AM PDT HD channels are wither shot in 720p or 1080i whereas upscaled channels are nothing but Standard Definition channels stretched to look like a HD channel Indeed Fake channels. The conversion of SD video signal is performed by some SD DVD / HD or High Definition televisions. A mathematical calculation used to pass a resolution to another. Finally, optimizing the image is more or less successful depending on the quality of your hardware. More info: What is an upscaling? |

Launch of dedicated section for problems related to airtel branded services Posted: 16 Mar 2011 08:28 AM PDT I am very frequently facing the problem of broadband disconnection. Everyday i will be calling to the Airtel customer care, they will be taking the complaint number, and some of Airtel executive will visit my place, he will be checking something and without resolving the problem, he will close the complaint. This is what happening since last month. I am totally frustrated with the Airtel service. Even, if i am calling to the customer care, in between they will disconnect the call. Really the service is very very very very worstttttttttt. They wont even give proper response. I am holding the connection from more than 2 yrs. Since begining itself, i am facing the problem. If i am requesting to disconnect the connection, they were not doing. Please please please dont go for Airtel broadband service. Their service is pathetic. |

Samsung Galaxy S I9000 - Product Discussion & Initial Purchase Experience Posted: 16 Mar 2011 07:47 AM PDT Another thing that bugs me about Android... Companies take their own sweet time to update their OS even after months or even years of release of the latest OS :( (I can still see some phones on the market with 2.1:o )... This is the reason I always advice ppl with a 20K+ budget to buy only the current flagship phone from google... One of the reasons I chose the N1 even though there were other phones available at that time with better specs :) ... |

Are their any specific settings for Vodafone 3G? Posted: 16 Mar 2011 04:41 AM PDT Quote: I have not seen 3G on my Nokia N95 with Vodafone prepaid SIM anywhere in Delhi yet. Any way, I sent "ACT 3G" to 144 and got the reply "...We will get back to you shortly". Clearly 3G on Vodafone is not available in Delhi as on today. So, there is no need to worry about settings yet. ---------- Post added at 05:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 PM ---------- @Htclegend Hope your HTC Legend is not the American version. Because the HSDPA of American version is HSDPA 850 / 1900, while the HSDPA used in India is HSDPA 900 / 2100. If your phone's HSDPA version is HSDPA 850 / 1900, then the 3G of India won't work on your phone. Check the Specifications printed on the User Manual and revert here. |

Subramanian swamy and corruption exposure Posted: 16 Mar 2011 04:10 AM PDT Sadiq batcha, close aide of Raja is no more. He was brought to Apolo hospital around 1:30 pm and was declared dead on arrival. Police concluded that Batcha has committed suicide without waiting for the post-mortem report and the site visit and forensic examination report. Both Subramanyan swamy and Cho (editor of a tamil weekly), in their tv interviews, have expressed strong reservations about the suicide theory. Batcha is not a weak personality, has powerful friends, is in touch with Salaluddin and can definitely face CBI. They believe that foul play/ murder is definitely is a serious possibility. NDTV correspondent says the if Batcha went to the bath room at 10, and around 12, Batcha's relatives found him hanging in the bathroom. But the bathroom ceiling height is low and the room has no ceiling fan. Difficult to commit the crime. We now need Hercule Poirot to use his 'litttle grey cells' to solve the case. |
