hmm interesting... My BSNL sim in my Iphone when used in Mumbai on MTNL network returns 1-1.5Mbps speed so I dont think the speed is capped to 384Kbps...

MUMBAI: Even if you are the market leader, you won't be spared for misleading advertising. This is the message that the Advertising Standards Council of India (Asci) wants to make crystal clear.

In the latest development, Asci has pulled up the leading direct-to-home (DTH) service provider company Dish TV for claiming to have 50 per cent of the market share in its advertisement.

The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) of the Asci had received a complaint against Dish TV's ad that had a punch line of "Half the nation loves Dish TV.''

"The CCC concluded that as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) data states, Dish TV has a 31.6 per cent of the market share; the claim, half the nation loves Dish TV, is misleading," Asci said.

Asci has asked Dish TV to modify the advert.

Dish TV, in the advertisement, had quoted the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) data of Q2 2010. The ads appeared in some newspapers earlier this year.

However, Asci noted that IRS is only a survey report that is neither comprehensive nor accurate. "IRS data or any data published by a private organisation can therefore not be relied on as an authentic source of information," Asci said.

According to Asci, Trai has reported the installed subscriber base for the second quarter of the calendar year 2010 as 23.77 million. The financial result published by Dish TV for the same quarter indicated a gross subscriber base of 7.5 million which translates to a market share of 31.6 per cent.

"In light of the above, the campaign is false and factually incorrect," the Asci ruled.

Why dont he & you guys use the simple 10 step exercise (Hardly 30 minutes):huh::madness:. Reasons are:

1. This will also save him a few bucks of wasting in unlimited plans.

2. Even if he opt for unlimited, the smarter hacker will eat up his maximum speed thus panicking him for lower speeds. The option of unlimited is merely surrendering.

3. Also someday (whoknows) a rascal hacker will do something worst from his unsecured WIFI thus resulting in legal panicks. I think you dont read newspapers where a couple of year before some terrorists hacked wifi of a careless WIFI holder and sent DHAMAKI wale emails thus resulting in panick:ishock: to the careless IP holder by police, CBI, RAW, ATS etc..:O:O:O . Even if he was "BAIZZAT BARI" he would have paid price of his carelessness till that date in terms of money, time, panick, INSULTS etc etc..:O:icry::icry:. Read the news links:

Your plan suits you because your broadband works. My connection worked for just 5 days from the date of installation. I waited for 15-16 days for the servicemen to repair the connection, but to no avail. I was fed up with the quality of the connection and most importantly with their blatant lies.

My friend asked the same question when he opted for BSNL wireline broadband. I suggested him to go for modem rental. In 1.5 yrs the ADSL modem(Rs.1000) gone kaput & he replaced it without any hassles. Think of the CPE cost? U need to spend more when it comes to wireless internet as of now.

Considering Rs.2500 as a refundable security deposit(for outdoor CPE) the rental is Rs.40. It will be Rs.2400 in 5 years. Do the math & think wisely.

Thanks to many forum members for enlighting my knowledge on networking skills.

With the help of this forum I was able to dig more into port-forwarding stuff obviously for my beloved uTorrent :happy:.

As mentioned above I am having DNA-A212 modem wifi modem provided by mtnl & have gone upto switching into brodge mode & have stuck there.


Can any1 tell how to go fwd. from there ??

Yup!Tough luck but my own fault to a great degree.I did not play games online just surfed and watched a few videos on the ps3 every now and then.Nothing that I could not have done on the laptop.Except the game demos that I downloaded.
I should have left the ps3 disconnected but how was I to know that I would be one update too late. :(

I did find someone through my friends who was/is willing to trade his PS3 but the problem is that his is the old model and I can never be sure about how well it works since it is at least a couple of years old.(not seen it though)

I guess Beam have renamed third time now, first beam cable then beam telecom and now beam fiber. Beam fiber sounds good. waiting for plan upgrade and I still find beam best among airtel (craptel), reliance or Tata indicom broadband.

Though i get only 850 kbps during my night booster i can watch all 360p without buffering(50 mb - 70 mb). Above 70 mb file it buffers for few times.

Hope you can help solve this problem of mine.
I had applied specifically for the "Night Booster Zoom 1" [1Mbps/2Mbps day/night] after confirming that it is possible in my area around mid December.And this is where the problem started.

1. The name on the bill was misspelt [my name is V.S.Gopalan and not K.S.Gopalan]
2. The internet plan i got was Combo 1Mpbs and not what i had ordered.I called them about this and said it was not possible in my area.When i requested to changet he plan they said it was not possible to do so. I argued then why was i assured that i would get the Night Booster Zoom 1 plan and the guy hung up on me.
3. Connection came on 21st December and got disconnected on 25th December.
4. I called them the next day and they lied to me that the entire reliance network in india was down and it would take 3 days to repair it. I called them everyday for 15 days till 7th January and still the broadband did not work. So i requested to terminate the connection. I got a call the next day asking to confirm the disconnection and i finalized the termination.
5. I got an email that confirmed my disconnection and that the modem and the phone equipment will be retrieved with 7-10 days.
6. I got the bill for the 1st and the 2nd month and still nobody claimed the modem or the phone.
7. Finally after 45 days someone came and took the equipment and did not provide an acknowledgment slip for it.
8. Meanwhile i am still getting calls telling me that my bill is overdue or else they will terminate the connection.
9. I got the bill for the 3rd month now and again the entire drama about bill overdue.

I mean i can understand delay, but this is utterly pathetic and stupid service that you people provide. They dont even know i terminated my connection on 7th January and i am still getting calls today [15th March] that they will disconnect my broadband plan. Seriously BSNL feels so good now.

I am really feeling lucky because the fivenet provider(swastik) here in chembur got ready to expand his network by about a km. He told me that he'll setup the whole thing in a couple of days. Also he has sent me a letter and told me to get it signed by the secretary. But the thing is that I dont think he would sign it. I dont know what to do now. Is it really necessary? and is the provider is going to charge me for all the wiring and stuff. I am ready to pay but just want to make sure.
