Atleast it is very very convenient - they come to pick the hard disk , analyse it ...tell you the quote - if you are okay - they will recover the data else they return the hard disk to you without any cost.

for MTNL Mumbai I have no idea from where you can get list of area manager and GM . and Mtnl delhi doesn't have any 752kbps plan available and I am using their 1 mbps unlimited plan currently and speed i usually get is around 0.875 mbps which I know is not good enough but My home is about 3.5Kms away from exchange and I have no alternative for MTNL so I am sticking to it.

If it was a movie then Ban & Ire will both beat SA as well & they would qualify for the QF, leaving SA out. Back to reality - the question/vote should be - by how many runs/wkts will SA win...

It seems that the latency of my connection shoots up to between 250 - 400ms when pinging a Mumbai server from Kolkata. It happens especially in the evening hours.

As a result of this, the speed reduces from the alloted 4mbps to a meagre 250 - 360 kbps.

The latency remains normal during the day time and also late night, but is badly screwed up during the evening.

Also noticing something strange:-

Is there any way to transfer data (mostly video footage) from high altitude (6000 - 7000 M+) to lower base camp site (around 8 - 10 km away) during mountaineering expedition ? There'll be no mobile coverage & apparently internet through satellite phone is much slower & very expensive. Is it possible to transfer data at high speed through some hand-held device like two way radio etc. ? Device should work at sub zero temperatures & at that altitude & at the same time should be small enough to carry in rucksack & can be charged via solar panel etc. Any pointers regarding this will be highly appreciated. I've been with TS for a couple of years now. Two STBs and family super saver pack with a few extra packages. Overall satisfied with the service and quality, so plan to stick with them.

Once some good collection of HD channels start playing, I plan to replace both STBs with whatever HD versions they have :)

I need to port forward my Linksys WRT54G2 wireless-G router for port no 52064 for uTorrent. I have a MTNL 1 Mbps Unlimited connection. Earlier I used to directly connect my laptop to Dsl 502T to the ethernet port and download torrents. I had port forwarded on my DSL-502T with the ip 192.168.1.2 for port no 52064 in lan clients and virtual server.
Now that I want to download the torrent through wifi I need to port forward the same on my Linksys WRT54G2. I had used Socrates guide to configure my wifi router. The default gateway is 10.10.0.1 and the ip address that I have set as static ip on my laptop is 10.10.0.3.
I went into the settings of wifi router in Applications and gaming and made the settings into it for port forward but still when I'm trying to run the test on uTorrent to check whether the port is forwarded it is giving me the result as "The port is not forwarded. Are u still able to download".
When I connect my laptop directly to the Dsl 502T router that time there is no problem. Its during when using through wifi it's giving problem.

It depends on the people at your exchange. Some are very good and responsible. Proper follow ups can do wonders.

If it's available, of course - often in areas where U-verse is available, Verizon's FiOS service is not, and vice versa.

Me too gave them a cheque for Rs.500(after reading lot of horror reviews). I stopped the cheque payment(which costed Rs.50) when they made a delay in giving the connection. The next day the line was thru & i paid them thru i-banking the same amount.
Like all i was a little afraid about their billing. But nothing gone wrong till date. Take a Unlimited plan & use within the free voice calls & u'll be just fine.

A manual config gives only 950 kbps connection speed. I get a maximum download speed of around 75 KB/s. But 3G speed is much more than this .
