Hmm.. based on the above linked thread - It seems they have updated the FAQs (now they are slightly better) .. So my suggestion would be to wait till someone uses it & gives a feedback before even thinking about it :P

Actually, the confusion thats there regarding connectors is my creation only - i was half-asleep, when i put my post yesterday. I am clarifying on a few points here.....

As a general idea - yes, i am using the second option - A/V in of TV Tuner software.

1) I have a Single video cable - the yellow one. Both ends similar. I connect 1 end to the STB & other to the TV Tuner.
2) Then i have a wire with Red+White on 1 end and, a STEREO jack at the other. And i can easily be guaranteed that the Stereo jack works as an "Input" connector. The reason is - i had used them for my old speakers......the Stereo pin went into the speaker from my DVD. So, the cable selected is perfect.
And of course, i insert that jack into the Line in of my PC.

I will be studying now, & will try out the new software by morning & update about any issues i face!!

so u guys telling like we are trapped by recharging 4200rs..it is not at all fair for telling 3.6 mbps or more speed at the beginning and capped to 1mbps...

i am from trivandrum and even satisfied with my download speeds between 100-200kB/sec...But i am not satisfied with the browsing speed ..it drastically reduces than a gprs connection...its not value for money if the browsing speeds continued like this...

so finally..wht u are all going to conclude...???????????

almon: I've a 8330 which is a CDMA Device, so no operator to use on same handset, cdma blackberry left for me is TATA, which is poor coverage in U.P. Oh my 28K curve handset, can't think of buying another.

Topweb: one of friend using vodafone prepaid BB plan, he's very happy with the usage and if I could afford a new handset I'll move to vodafone for BB plan.

Lastly, the Reliance CDMA BB outage ended around 5:15PM, got few hundred mails in short period once it was back up.
One thing I recall is, outages on Reliance CDMA blackberry are of long duration but once a few months, but if you compare the uptime, they kill the good figures in one shot instead of smaller frequent outages.

1) For me all applications work with Vodafone Live ...but i have read many people on the forum telling that Live is only for WAP sites and for applications etc you need Vodafone Mobile connect. So i guess you need to check and get vodafone connect to use 3G for applications
2) Vodafone had some bugs for 3G activation ...2 friends of mine got the same sms " your phone is not 3G compatible" ...keep trying ...it will work. If it still does not ...put your sim in some other phone ..activate 3G and then change the phone (this worked for my friends when i put their sim in my phone)
3) Vodafone TV is right now only for selected OS/Handsets (e.g. It works on Symbian, Blackberry - but not on android galaxy S )

2) Even if you post 2 posts together ...normally they merge ...in your case it is not happening ..i wonder why

Simple solution ...just delete the other 4

Hey people, I have downloaded a game "vyruz: destruction of the untel empire" using bittorrent, and it's minimum 12 years old. Its company, Chili Con Valley, is nowhere to be found and I have no way of ordering it. But it still has a copyright of 1998. Then is it legal? Looking on the other side, downloading US content in India is legal, in other words, "not illegal". From copyright point of view, will it be safe to keep this game with me?

I am using nokia 5630 which supports 3G upto 10.2 Mbps. When i connect thruogh the pc suite, it gets connected only at 480 Kbps, which is the edge speed i guess. Is there any setting for Win 7 to get connected in 3G speed? I am using airtel 3G.

I have Vodafone Live unlimited 99 bucks plan ...using that for Live coverage of all the world cup matches on mobile. Works like a charm.

Vodafone TV usage cost 7 bucks a day (or 150 bucks a month) ....Vodafone live is free ...3G speeds ensure match clarity is awesome.

Just confirmed. MTNL is secretly capping HSDPA speeds to 384 kbps or 0.4 mbps. When I am roaming in BSNL 3G network, I still get same speed. But if I use BSNL sim, I get 2 mbps speeds on same network. Jeez.
Planning to cut my sim card when balance is over. I don't even want to go through the hassle of porting my number.

I was a user of VL. I had the " Pay as you go" scheme. I came to know about VMC pretty late, So I didn't opt for it & planned to jump directly to 3g. I was excited after seeing the Vodafone#g advt on TV, only to realize that they haven't launched it yet But I came to know abt th free 3g trial in this forum. I msgd ACT 3G to 111. I Got 3g on my Xperia X10 only after a dozen or so trials. Now i have an 'H' on the top of my screen & the speed in the browser is pretty good. But I cannot use it for any of the apps, apart from the browser. So what's the problem ?? Any specific settings for this ??

After the installation was over & they migrated my existing subscriber ID to the new digi comp box i straight away started getting "Invalid XTV Subscription" Error anytime I try to record, pause live TV. The installation dude called his folks and asked why this error is coming up, they told him to wait for couple of hours and recording will be enabled on its own (which I doubted :imbored: but hesitated to cross question him)

Called the CC and they said to do the usual stuff :wall::wall: switch off/on unplug/plug the cables (stone age troubleshooting steps that even my grandma knows). I knew that wont make any difference, so they are gonna send someone tomorrow to look into it.

Once I came to office I Google'd the error was right away pointed to broadbandforum.in post where some users were successful enough in making the CC understand that this is a plan related issue & not a hardware related issue.

I tried the same mantra and the guy who answered my call dint have a clue in the world what that error meant and said to wait until the guy shows up tomorrow. I tried to convince them that hey I read that some other ppl who had the same issue have fixed the issue after adding a so called 'Recording Plan' to their package coz when you switch from older plan to a newer one they may forget to activate the recording feature.

He totally was not understanding it, he transferred me to his supervisor who again said that they dont have anything such as a 'recording plan' or any other plan that can enable the recording and this is a set top box related error and I have to wait until the tech comes back tomorrow.

I use fivenet hub myself n m pretty happy with the speed etc etc..
m used to dloading decent prints frm private torrents, so really get pissd wen i dload smthing tht seemd decent enf to dload bt later on is of poor quality..

(trust me i hv found fools writing HD/DVD rip on their poor prints, i used to dload thm directly, bt now hv decided to view temps frst)

so in ne case evn if fivenet hub has a 24*7 hub wich is awesome,, i wud lk to get connectd to a few people i knw n dload stuff frm them..

Thanks for the replies. Modem diagnostics shows a device id when I switch on the laptop. The problem was finally located to McAfee firewall in the laptop, switching off ICMP ping. The moment it was switched on everything became normal. Thanks for the great guide essbebe.

When Dena Bank failed to verify forged signatures on a cheque for Rs 42,500 they made the mistake of simply accepting the cheque and making the payment allowing a fraudster to walk away with the amount.

The first thing that would come to mind is, "what's the big deal about 45k when people and companies loose lacs and corers?" The big deal is that this 42,500 was not lost by one of those big MNC's or someone with lacs and lacs to spare. This money was lost due to the bank's failure to enforce security and procedure. Over time people have lost money to fraudsters because of the lack of procedural discipline followed by the banks.
In the case of Dena Bank, Malad East, Mumbai; a man, pretending to sell Reliance Broadband connections for Rs 100 to senior citizens, entered the house of the victim. He even had the residents of the house fill forms and issue him a cheque for Rs. 100. He then proceeded to confound everyone with numerous requests. While everyone was busy with his request, he removed the cheque for Rs 100 from the cheque book. He didn't stop there; he even pulled out the blank cheque below it. After having gotten the blank cheque the perpetrator made out a self cheque, forged the signatures on it and approached Dena Bank, Malad East, for a withdrawal.
The teller on duty at Dena Bank informed the person that the signatures were not matching. Hearing this, the perpetrator gave an excuse and went out for a few minutes. When he came back he had freshly forged signature on the cheque. When this signature also didn't match he repeated the exercise. What was remarkable here is that he repeated this exercise up to seven times before the bank finally cleared the cheque and made the payment. The bank employee responsible for the payment did suspect something but made the payment nonetheless. The bank never got wise as to why someone would go in and out of the bank seven times to re-do a signature instead of just getting the account holder in and having them sign the cheque again.
When the bank was informed of the fraud, they carried out an internal investigation that led to the identifying of the teller who was responsible for making the payment on the cheque. They also informed the account holder that they had referred the problem to the local police station. Apart from this Dena Bank informed the account holder that they were willing to submit the cheque to a handwriting expert, who could verify that the signatures had been forged or not, provided the account holder bear the cost of soliciting such service.
The questions this incident raises are that should the bank have really honoured the cheques? Shouldn't the bank have suspected something when the person kept going out again and again? Sources at Dena Bank claimed that they did call the account holder to confirm with them about the validity of the cheque but failed to receive a reply from them.
Banks have certain security measures in place where in they check your photo id and match the signatures on the cheques to verify that it is genuine. They are also supposed to match the photo id produced, to the photo they have on record. The rules are that if the signatures don't match the cheque will not be honoured unless the bank can call up the account holder and confirm that they did issue the cheque in question. In this case the procedures were not followed and a mistake was made.
This is not the first time something like this has happened. There is an e-mail, that has been doing the rounds, where someone, the victim had never even met, forged a photo id and got ICICI Bank to change the SMS banking number on the victims account. The fraudster went on to order a new cheque book and managed to withdraw a lot of money from the account via RTGS transfers to an account in Allahabad Bank and producing "self cheques" to withdraw money from the account. In this case the mistake that ICICI Bank made was to not verify the photo on the ID card produced by the perpetrator against the photo of the account holder that was on record with the bank.

I find it odd that most of the large apartments (with 1000 or more apartments) do not have a FIOS based broadband connectivity. Both Broadband charges and other Television/HD service delivery can be achieved via this model. Are there any ISP targeting such a service model.
