If that happens then I should get about 2mbps speed from midnight onwards.

Let's keep fingers crossed :)

Which website where ?

I ask because now its 6th of January and I have not experienced any change in speeds.

Fivenet New Diwali Plan Rs. 5,999 for 1 Year, Upto 10 Mbps speed

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 12:40 PM PST

Apart frm above, if i go with this 10mbps line, the max upload speed i can get is 1mbps.
Now, i play a lot of online games on europe servers and i get high pings.

So, is their a connection between higher upload speed & ping ? OR ping is not at all connected to upload speed....

Any way i work around with my provider to get me higher pings OR anything like tht ?

PS: i knw background tasks & stuff and all internet eating applications R shut off b4 playing.

Airtel Broadband problem with the BSNL modem WA3002G4

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 10:27 AM PST

I have opted for airtel broadband services in Jalandhar, Punjab.
They asked me if you could arrange your own modem or buy i from us.
I borrowed a BSNL WA 3002G4 from a friend of mine.

Since the day I i have been facing a problem of frequent dis-connects after sometime, and i have to switch off the modem for a while to get it working up again( i.e. to get the link).
I have complained about it too, firstly they told your line will be changed, then something other, and now they say the bsnl modem does not support the airtel broadband profile.

Does any one know, whether these problems could be due to a BSNL modem.

MTNL 3G signals & 2G signals selection problem in dual mode network of Nokia E5

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 09:55 AM PST

I guess so. On my mobile I have selected both GSM & 3G network mode & I normally catch 3G signal. But it changes to 2G automatically (technically 2.5G) when the 3G signal is very weak (1-2 bars out of 5).

basic and most important question that need to be solved regarding bsnl3g

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 09:50 AM PST

unlocked datacard is just like any other mobile. you can put any sim. but if you bye datacard from bsnl or any other operator then they will lock it to their own sim series. so you can go for unlocked datacard without worry. i purchased huwave umg1831 data card from ebay. and this current one is teracom provided by bsnl. and i can tell you umg1831 is very good. but choice is urs. and to avail 2mb or more speed 3g service should be activated for ur number. 2g sim or 3g Sim doesn't matter much

sure...i'll try that

@raj2007 Sure do let me know if there is a change in the download speed after you migrate to 1Mbps.
@iChaitanya Thanks for the update.

But I still believe that nothing can be change with the 749 Plan. As the Reliance techs are not that competent enough which I really miss after I switched from Airtel. They were amazed to see that I configured my Wireless ADSL modem with Reliance and stopped using there simple ADSL router. :)

Airtel Broadband 1mbps FUPed plan for Rs. 999

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 09:31 AM PST

hmm strange, i checked UP west tariff plans and check these>

Impatience 1199(Airtel/UW/FL/012)
Impatience UL 1299 -Commercial(Airtel/UW/FL/014)

Both have same download speed> 2 Mbps till 20 GB, 256 kbps beyond 20 GB.
and nothing uncommon! All details are same, then y the price differs??? Because of commercial?

The Airtel love story with a very sad decline and ending (lil' scoop on FUP too!)

How to amplify BSNL 3G Signal

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 09:24 AM PST

If we use a usb extension cable how we gona charge the modem. Will the extension cable charge the modem itself I never used a usb extension cable before.

Also will the increase in signal will led to increase in speed or it is not necessary. I get speed of below 5KBps and sometome 20KBps.

Shifting from Aircel to MTNL 3G in Delhi - Need Reviews, Coverage Details, Actual Customer Stories

Posted: 05 Feb 2011 07:19 AM PST

in my area i am getting speeds ranging from 1-1.2 Mbps (download speed of 120-145 kbps). before committing 4500 bucks, i will advice you to buy an mtnl

prepaid sim and recharge with a rs 50 data card (in mtnl data and voice recharge cards are different) which will give you 60MB data free.

this should be enough for a few days trial. if you are planning to replace your existing broadband connection with MTNL 3G,

you can also do that, provided that you get good download speeds in your area.

there is a minor glitch with MTNL 3G though, it gets disconnected after every 1-2 hrs if left unattended(atleast in my case).

since i am using it for occasional surfing on a laptop and mobile, it's not a problem for me. but if you like to leave your downloads

unattended overnight, it can become a major hassle.

I have used Firefox 4 since about the beta 4 or 5 release and the performance improvement is mindblowing. It's actually nearly as fast as Chrome now, the difference is made up by the awesome extensions library.

This has occurred to me quite often..
The browser doesn't load the page as though there was a time out response..
Sites like Torrents Search Engine didnt load a few weeks back

I had to use proxy software's like Ultrasurf, for sometime.
But now the issue is resolved.

2 ways to solve this problem now.

Use Mozilla firefox.
"If u get Waiting for www.ursite.com" and the page doesnt display stuff even after repeated refresh/Stop and refresh, then save ur session and exit.

Open firefox again and ur sites will work like a charm.

Lots of sites that didnt open a couple weeks back are working now.

Another issue is that of NAT technology that BSNL 3g uses that shares ip to many users..

Thanks for the quick reply, I know that big vendors like Dell, HP etc. selling firewall hardware, but never had any idea about their software components, let alone operating systems. I am happy that you have clarified to me that these hardware firewalls also have an operating system.

Thanks and please feel free to add anything that is useful and basic to the idea,

Vodafone India: Beware- How I got cheated

@Samm If all else fails then waiting till Sept 2011(even though its a wrong date given by Vodafone) is the only option. About taking time to update may not be true in this case as its an erroneous date they have given in the first place for it to change, Vodafone will have to admit there's been an error.

The problem was that Ganguly doubled his base price from 200000$ to 400000$

Now who wud take it... I thought Kochi may have wanted him but at lower price...they might have internal deal that officially it wud be $400000 but unofficially he wud be paid less. Ganguly wud be happy that he finally got in the IPL and Kochi wud be happy that they got him at lower price.

Download speed Sucks!!!

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 02:52 PM PST

I used to reside at Sion and I've been using Fivenet from past 1 Year and the DC++ Download speed was awesome but now I have recently shifted to Kopar Kharaine and the speed sucks big time, it never goes above 200 Kbps.

I tried Contacting the ISPs but they did not provide any help stating that, "There is nothing that we can do to help you".

BTW the provider of Fivenet connection for me is SSV Technologies....

Will this issue be resolved, if not then I'll be left with the choice of disconnecting services from you.

Below is the plan that I've subscribed for:

Plan - AS1030A
Renewal Plan Date - Monday, January 24, 2011
Plan Expires on - Sunday, July 24, 2011
