Important news for all bsnl changes plans 1 feb 2011 Posted: 04 Feb 2011 12:35 PM PST So I called the local exchange and the guy there asked me to call 12678 and when I did that they werent even aware of any changes. Then they said since there is some cable fault that they are not sure if its implementable etc. I only asked them to update the plans on their end, for which the same answer was given. |

And my broadband issues get fixed within 24 hours. |

Expectations and Feedback for Hayai Broadband Posted: 04 Feb 2011 10:12 AM PST Quote: If I understand the question correctly, then no. Default speed on all connections is 1Gbit/s. (GPON trees are 2.5Gbits / 32 users = 78mbit/s, so this is a "minimum" speed in the network). From there, you're rate-limited at our network's border to whatever plan speed you're on, so if you're a 10mbit/s flat-rate subscriber, anything OUTSIDE of our network is rate limited to a maximum of 10mbit/s. Anything INSIDE the network still runs at up to 1Gbit/s. Pretty much - if it's served by us, cached by us, or from a user on another ISP with whom we have a private bi-lateral peering agreement (ie, not NIXI peering), then it's in HZ. Youtube is a tough one, because not all Youtube content is cached (especially if you're the first to access the content)... so that would be a half-yes. |

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 06:36 AM PST Quote: The problem here is that people just don't care about trivial things like Broadband. Majority of the public are satisfied using crappy EDGE services on their cell phones. Only a small percentage of the population have Internet awareness unlike the USA, or any other European country for that matter. Since people are not aware, ISP's try to rip them off by selling slow 256 kbps plans with 'unlimited' usage. In short we're being milked even harder than the rest of the world (except maybe Africa?) Quote: MOst of these companies fails to upgrade their own backbone infrastructure to maintain the high load from increased broadband speeds, then they blame the customers for slowdown. In stead of FUPing all the customers why don't they do it with individual customers ( if the reason behind this is cost/GB related), where someone is using too many GBs in a low priced plan. & - if it is required because of slow down of traffic in certain areas then why not put more POPs in that particular areas & increase backhaul bandwidth capacity to neutrilise the effect. Agree 100% |

ICICI Bank Online Banking is down today... Posted: 04 Feb 2011 06:17 AM PST hmm. could be. from what i remember you just need icici bank site to send or receive funds for trading. if you already have funds in your direct account, you might not need your bank account at all. and of course, not everyone using icici direct would have a bank account with icici :| and then icici might be having issues with just the front-end... they would still have the backend functional. blah. too many assumptions. i need to shut up now. |

Apple iPhone coming to Verizon next week Posted: 04 Feb 2011 05:56 AM PST heh yeah. it would be nice to see how android on verizon sells compared to the iphone. of course, for most people iphone at USD 200/300 is a great value for money product. for the rest of us who are concerned about the problems related to iTunes and restrictions... android is still the better option! :D ---------- Post added at 07:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 PM ---------- It is funny to read stories with titles like... Digital Media Consumption Manifesto Posted: 04 Feb 2011 04:57 AM PST |
Posted: 04 Feb 2011 04:52 AM PST I seriously doubt if reliance has, say 10 lakh NetConnect Broadband + users, even 50,000 would be getting a 2 mbps speed on avg. Its the same problem with all these EVDO providers that they advertise so heavily that even in a villages where there are only 3-4 operators BTS (2G GSM/CDMA 1X ), there too people are carrying so many data cards. I have seen people using 1000-1500 rs./ month for a download rate of 13-19 KBps thinking their device is 3.1 mbps. Hardly 30-40% users among these data cards would be having any idea, what an EVDO is ! |

MTNL Broadband Plan Change Questions and Answers Posted: 04 Feb 2011 04:25 AM PST I have just got my plan changed from the DSL_COMBO_495 (320 kbps U/L) to DSL_749 (752 kbps U/L). Took about 4 days of chasing the guys to finally get the speed changed (although plan was changed promptly). I'm not too far from the exchange (max 1 km), and have been getting 320 kbps on the 320 kbps plan (100%). I know TRAI has imposed a 80% limitation, but I'm just achieving about 630 kbps of download speed only on this plan. Anyone else facing the same issue? OS - Mac OSX Internet configured over a 3com adsl+wifi router. ![]() |

LCD markets are growing like anything and for that we require good quality signals and with HIGH RESOLUTIONS too. Cables/analog systems will die by itself. No need for deadlines. Problem connecting MTNL Wireless DNA-A212 with BSNL dataone connection Posted: 04 Feb 2011 12:21 AM PST Quote: essbebe, thnks. I got the problem sorted out. I got to the router admin page by using mozilla. Last time it didnt work coz i use chrome and it somehow didnt respond as it should have. Now i did everything written and the wireless started connecting to internet and my comp also responded saying "you are connected to internet". but when i try to open some page in the browser (any..used all safari, chrome, mozilla, ie) there is a message saying server not connected. Cant figure out whats wrong, since even my network and sharing control panel bar shows that i am connected wirelessly to net. BTW i am using the same wireless network connection as i used in delhi so my WPA-2 settings have not been changed..do i need to? Usually we check LAN connection is working. try again. Then wifi. START NETWORK WLAN check STATUS REPAIR. Check WLAN card is enabled. In Modem select Menu Item Diagnostics report failed components. |

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 08:50 PM PST Your case is better. I have Rs.110 balance in my account before the expiry date of 04.01.2011. Next day i was shocked by the SCRAMBLED message. I called the customer service, they told only Rs.11 in my account. What SD cheats done was deducted Rs.99 and not renewed the pack. The fraud customer care executive lady argued that i had only Rs.11 the previous day and no chance of having Rs.110/-. I got frustrated and cut the call as I have no proof. Suddenly an idea flashed in my mind. It was last month I have activated TEN CRICKET on 15.12.2010. While I try to activate it have Rs. 134/- balance. TEN CRICKET costs Rs.45. But it didn't accept because as TEN CRICKET was valid till 24 Jan, we need to have enough balance for next months base pack subscription. That is we need 99+45 (144) to activate it. So I recharged for Rs.25 (net balance 22) and and brought the balance to 156. I don't have any other add-on packs. I called CC again and argued the same. The CC executive was shocked and can't speak anymore and said it was a technical fault (Usual reason they give when caught while cheating). Now she gave me a complaint number asked me to switch on STB and TV and wait for some time. Within 2 Minutes I got all channels back. |
Nokia Smartphone Strategy Shift -- Android or Windows 7 ???? Posted: 03 Feb 2011 07:14 PM PST I agree, webos is one the best OS for mobiles but yes Palm failed miserably to showcase best things of that OS to the users. They also made very stupid mistakes with dealing developers. I remember as I was part of the project where my company wanted to develop email messaging client on webos but they were so stupid that they never allowed us to make few core changes to webos like making our email client as default email client or calendar as default client. They just refused while they allowed us to do every thing to their previous Palm OS. This all happened when Apple allowed us to make those changes in iOS3 and all other different mobile OS were also allowing us. I guess they paid very dearly for those mistake otherwise webos had really potential to kill all hype what iphone iOS have. |

Again the same problem.............:icry: I got a fix from linuxtv.org after a detailed research. Sound problem solved in TVtime.
