The problem now is that all but the most essential peering is done outside of India, which puts unnecessary strain on the international links, but is (oddly) cheaper.

I was only referring to the fact that if they have such high intl. bandwidth underutilized why don't they offer it at a cheap rate bcoz in any way they need limited and low amount of local peering which is enough to just link all. This companies i mean TATA,rel, airtel have edge on others as they hav there own intl. BW.

The easy part is setting up the technology (and even the regulatory part, considering private peering is allowed between licensed ISPs anyway).

The hard part is convincing other ISPs - especially the big ones - to peer at our IXP... though I expect our pricing on that should help: we plan to match our NZ prices - about Rs6,000/month for 1Gbit/s or Rs30,000/month for 10Gbit/s.

You said that u ar hoping to end this NIXI thing by joint ventures and no "GB" stuff.
Has any bigger ISP accepted this without "GB" thing at last...

I wanted to know what is the present peering situation in the world. And if a comp. owns intl. submarine cable then do they do a per GB peering with their intl. counterparts too. I mean if SEACOM terminates at a european country do their ISP's pay in per GB terms or just Gbps. I hope they don't face this 25 rs. per GB NIXI situation.

And we all hear about optic fiber link across our country. Reliance has some 0.2million Km of the network,BSNL has close to 1m. what is the capacity of their optic fiber network in Gb/Tb terms. do they get choked too like the Submarines ones.
I just read in the National BB policy:readtherules: document that the new 12b$ network will be future proof with extremely high speed limits. Are this pipes something like wells in which u can drain a lot.

And what if we bring the top 100 indian web servers(associated with a web site like sort of) back in India. Like Google/yahoo/wiki servers being now in India will it change the intl. traffic scenario.

BSNL 3G, anyone used Rs.2000 or Rs.2500 Recharge yet

Posted: 07 Jan 2011 11:38 AM PST

Recharged for Rs.2500/- in evening my talktime was valid till 21 Jan-11, as soon as recharged for 2500, new expiry date is extended till 07-Apr,
speeds were going above 1mbps yesterday, but seems BSNL is working on the issue slowly.

Today again there's lot of speed issues on BSNL 3G, I've also found opendns works better than Google DNS, atleast from my location.

Speeds still not near 1mbps which i need atleast, I don't won't to download movies etc, but need good connectivity to work.

I recharged this as a backup internet and it would also help me wait for Idea/Aircel/Voda to start services in U.P.(east) which doesn't looks will be happening before next 2-3 months atleast.

For anybody going to recharge, this recharge doesn't works from shop who recharge using "Suvidha Payment System" however any shop with recharge/etop-up(dealer SIM) can activate this plan for you.

No network coverage airtel- very poor services

Posted: 07 Jan 2011 10:44 AM PST

Same here. Even I had given a complaint (no. 120141488100) for the same issue last month.

Take a look at what Airtel has to say about it:

Quote:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for writing to Airtel.

This is with reference to your telephonic discussion with the
undersigned regarding the network coverage problem towards your Airtel
account (phone) number XXXXXXXXXX, where in, we confirmed you that upon
validation it was established that there exists a difficulty pertaining
to the network coverage at the problematic location / address.

We apologize for the entire inconvenience being caused to you due to
network coverage issue at ..., Pune, India.

We appreciate your patience in this matter, however; you have our
assurance that the matter is receiving our full attention that we are
making every effort to resolve the same.

Furthermore, please be informed that we have taken the problematic
address for future planning and we are in the process of getting the
network site installed. Once the site in question would be on air, the
network coverage problem at the complaint address would abate
significantly.
:|

I'm just waiting for MNP. Gonna migrate to some other operator. I suggest you do the same! :P

@admin: Plz move this thread to the 'airtel mobile' forum.

lol ^ they have been able to take down some indian torrent sites.... its really hard for them to take down any good international torrent site... but pretty easy for a indian torrent site because of the low number of users and the low level of security implemented...
