Samsung Galaxy S I9000 - Product Discussion & Initial Purchase Experience

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 11:59 AM PST

Dhananjay , y do you think there is a fix called lag fix for galaxy s ? Because its there on stock rom, it will be there unless fixed by samsung, or by custom rom, but I ain't doing that not risk free and not worth my time, if you want to take some risk go ahead and you may get improved performance, but beware there must be some new issues after that, nothing is ever 100% good.

Hayai Broadband Launch in India

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 11:43 AM PST

Railtel have given on their site that they will cover most uncovered areas by 2012. This means that Hayai will be able to spread almost nationwide by 2011 end..
Am I correct?

I suggest you take the Singapore ones. If the hardware is initially cheap then you will be able to start off at a lower price and that will really be of help in a country like India.
For Hayai we have waited so long, 3 weeks is nothing.
Again I will say this reply is not perfect, comments welcome.

[Planning] Internet distribution options for semi urban towns.

There have been some progress. Leased line is available for almost the same cost you mentioned with some discounts on higher bandwidths. The company has an easy procedure on increasing bandwidth.

A consultant from Kolkata will be here next week for onsite planning. They will also be setting up the infrastructure too. There are so many things to learn in this industry. With no background in IT. I am in short of time. Hope the consultants are as good as they speak. I must have spoken to a dozen consultants. Most of them had big shots in their kity and their prices were higher than my total budget.

Negotiating the optic fibre lease for backhaul.

Here comes the pre-launch competitor. The company sales representative who ignored me has his franchise from another city doing survey here. Now I got the reason for his disinterest. He will be glad to see our discussion on this forum.

I was reading through 'Tales from the towers' by Rory Conaway. Though concentrated on muniwireless. Has some good tips.

Brands I am loking at:
Wireless: Ubiquiti, Microtik, Xlink(Hotware.co.in). I cant find reviews on Hotware. Their spokesperson was quite straightforward on being new to Indian market and helpful. Still making up my mind.

Switches: D-link, Microtik
Fiber to ethernet converters: D-link

Trying to get hands on some sample wireless routers and cpe for testing.

Fivenet New Diwali Plan Rs. 5,999 for 1 Year, Upto 10 Mbps speed

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 09:55 AM PST

for fivenet user, even a 256kbps plan is IMBA.. because u get fivenet popeye hub access... i can find each and every game/movies/mp3/software over there and i get speed around 80mbps or ( download speed of 10 MBps ) on most nearby connection, average hub speed around 5-6MBps (Bytes)... and at the end of day i always keep deleting stuffs frm my 1TB HDD :( i need more space :/

BTW 5net 10mbps plan is not too good, sometime on U.S. servers it gives speed of 3-4mbps only.. that sux...

limited or no connectivity

I have seen some modems disable DHCP mode when we switch to bridge mode from PPPoE. You can specify a manual IP address for your LAN adapter. BTW, this problem will not affect your broadband connectivity.
