These kind bandwidth are bought by small datacentres in some parts of the world.

I dont see much improvement to any kind of internet traffic, except content hosted in china from sites like youku.

Actually, 40Gbit/s is 40,000 Mbit/s. Bit/s are measured in Base10.

The more the better, though. I think what this will allow them to do is to buy routes to the US from China (maybe even Japan) which I suspect is way cheaper than even Singapore.

Yes, pretty much. 40Gbit/s is peanuts. I'm hoping this is an error in the article in that day-1 lit capacity is 40Gbit/s, design capacity up to so-many Tbit/s.

Bharti already have close to 20Tbit/s available to them in/out of India alone. How much is actually lit up is another story. Airtel (or, rather, AS9498, which means also anyone who buys off Bharti is included in this figure) are doing between 100-200Gbit/s - an increase of 40Gbit/s is - best case - not even 20%.

Compare this to I-ME-WE (yet another Airtel & consortia project) which opened up recently with a capacity of 3.84Tbit/s.

Try *567# - It works for activation as well as deactivation.

Airtel home delivered a prepaid sim card to my place!

Posted: 23 Dec 2010 12:13 PM PST

You don't need to recharge with anything if you have validity left. I'm not talking about lifetime prepaid here. A lifetime prepaid account needs to be recharged alteast every 6 months by atleast Rs. 200 - this rule does not apply to those whose account is not lifetime prepaid.

For e.g. My prepaid validity will expire in 2012 and mine's not a lifetime prepaid account so I don't need to recharge by anything. However, if your number remains switched off continuously for 3-4 months, then your account will be deactivated and your number will be recycled. This happened with a friend of mine. His number was recycled as he didn't insert the SIM straight for 3 months. Airtel recycled his number and allotted it some some other person.

I've also confirmed the above info with Airtel CC.

[SOLVED] does anybody of a good GUIfied version of 'tcpdump' but for windows.

Posted: 23 Dec 2010 11:37 AM PST

Hi all,
Does anybody of a good Graphical User Interface version of TCPdump. For those who are unaware, its when you feel that while packets are being sent and you don't know where or who or what application is taking those packets you can find out.

I am looking for one which is basic , just be able to see which apps are doing what. If its FOSS-based or even freeware it would be good.

[Solved] Wireshark was my thing.

I think you are asking about Huawei K4505. I bought this card from 3gmodemstore.com Mr.Abey Joseph ( Kerala ). Mob. No 09847226289. But confirm whether he has stock at present. Or you should try from Aliexpress ( not alibaba.com ).

But I hope he is having UMG 1831 at present.
