TRAI to come out with recommendations on National BroadBand Plan Posted: 12 Dec 2010 12:21 PM PST Quote: Even on a flat-rate plan, essentially we're still counting GBs to come up with prices. Given the current wholesale costs, 2.5k gives us sufficient room with regards to how many GBs the customer can utilize that it's unlikely we'll have to implement an FUP. At <2k, the number of GBs that can be transferred becomes low enough (less than 100GB) that we might have to have an FUP on flat-rate plans - and we don't want to do that, especially at the expense of the experience of the customer experience and even exponential growth. If we can't deliver a *good* product, why bother at all? But that doesn't mean I'm saying no, just "not now": if/when our volume becomes large enough that we can manage a significant reduction in the effective price per GB, then at that time we will be able to reduce tariffs on all plans - even perhaps introducing something like 5mbit/s flat-rate at under Rs1500. ---------- Post added at 01:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:47 AM ---------- It's like I was saying in earlier posts: tariffs might not fall, only what you get for the same tariffs. In this case, 10mbit/s instead of 5. |

Posted: 12 Dec 2010 11:01 AM PST As both the 3G and EVDO are wireless technologies, the speed varies based on different factors. Technology wise 3G is superior than EVDO. Some of the BSNL offices have Demo Peice of EVDO device. Get in touch with your BSNL office and take the demo piece by paying refundable deposit. You may also check if they can provide any Demo peice for 3G modem too. |
Posted: 12 Dec 2010 10:55 AM PST The excellent speed test results posted by some of the users may look attractive, but the speed varies location to location and many other factors. So, please don't get confused with these screenshot and first check the load on your networks. I believe in Kerala, there may not be much 3G users as in other Metros (i may be wrong!), thats why they are getting so much good speed. Guys from Kerala, can you confirm if you are getting the same "high" speed through-out the day? In bangalore the speed fluctuates (i am using terracom 7.2mbps USB) All said and done, I feel Huwai products should be better than Terracom. |

Suggest Me... Huawei K4505 (or) Huawei UMG1831? Posted: 12 Dec 2010 10:12 AM PST I am from Navi Mumbai. I recently bought a UMG 1831, But faced lot of difficulties. The price I paid was Rs.3900, from a Cochin delaer. Initially it was not connecting with any Sim card. I downloaded latest mobile partner, flashed the modem with the help of the supplier. Even now I am not happy with the modem BSNL 3G gives only 684 kbps download speed. I will try with MTNL 3G card tomarrow. But the experience is bad. |
Posted: 12 Dec 2010 10:02 AM PST Siddharth...... We all will need to just wait - we cant do anything else right now......coz most of the people would be directed towards the HD DVR launch. So, adding a channel right now, seems a distant thing now......SADLY!! U call it our bad luck or whatever - these people are there with the Launch preparations (Atleast the Technical staff) and at that very time, this new gimmick from Zee group, of shifting the whole cricket thing to a separate channel....... In the war DTHs, its we customers who suffer in the end. |

BSNL IPTV in Pondi and Chennai Posted: 12 Dec 2010 09:42 AM PST Calling cusomer care and dialling the numbers they instruct is a tedious job. I tried many times, to the tollfree number given by them, but without any success than to get recorded message to press no.1, 2 e... etc. I was trying to contact that appu nair, but only yesterday he replied and he promised he will call back within 20 minutes. But after that I didn't get any call from him nor did he receive any calls from me. He said there is a branch office opened in pondicherry different from bsnl office. But I didn't note down the address as I had his mobile number. Today I lodged a complaint to online customer care from my account page and waiting for any reply. Usually they do not reply our messages. Only I have to wait. Thank you for replying. |
