Airtel Broadband enforcing new Fair Usage Policy limits on old customers Posted: 06 Dec 2010 12:29 PM PST Quote: I have switched to Reliance Wire Broadband from Airtel after I was FUPed. I subscribed for the 749 Plan with 600kbps and 1 Mbps boost at night. According to my experience the speed in daytime fluctuates between 580kbps to 650kbps or even more and at night it is between 930kbps to 1.1 Mbps. The love the way Reliance offers speed boost. :) And most important no FUP. |
Bsnl Modem ZXDSL 531B Wifi issue Posted: 06 Dec 2010 12:01 PM PST Quote: But once pc is shutdown in effect the modem is shutdown, Presume you mean Modem lost connection to Internet ? ( modem Power On ) Open a web page in Phone and switch off computer ( desktop/laptop) can you surf ? Check in WAN page IDLE time option is set to 0. "Always On" box selected. Also SAVE& REBOOT from Management menu. You can check the screen shots for wa 3002-G4 for ZTE531B settings see "Sticky" post wa 3002-G4 quick reference post of mine. check Chennai link there. Configuration exactly the same (except level of security setting) Once wifi is working fine, then shutting down pc and leaving modem on doesn't change anything, Wifi works fine whether PC is on or not. @praj You did not mention, did Wifi work fine with new modem and what is the configuration on that one., any different? I have noticed my friend encounter this as well in my city. (bsnl provided wifi modem as well) Praj is also right on this, with security off, wifi works fine, but that is risky in my neighborhood (open wifi) Also the phone detects wifi for about a minute upon modem poweron before the Wifi completely goes off the detection radar, this again confirmed by Praj. My silly take on this is (just a hunch) The "Select SSID:" option in Wi-Fi setting page lists a drop down menu, listing the main SSID and the other one as Guest Upon modem restart (after poweroff) i think it struggles to determine which one to make legitimately. (this might be just silly guesstalk and i hope it is because it makes very little sense) |
Complete Realignment Procedure Details of Sun Direct Posted: 06 Dec 2010 11:55 AM PST We also need to rotate LNB slightly in order to get all the channels on Sun Direct DTH from new satellite. I have tried the alignment procedure given in the above replies. But I was not able to receive few channels and the channels details were getting downloaded every time I switch on the STB. I did a small research on the satellite position and did some more alignment which is not given in any of above replies. Finally I succeeded with signal strenght 79% to 84% and quality 94% to 99%. The complete procedure is giving at Ambience: Sun Direct - Dish Realignment Procedure. |
Posted: 06 Dec 2010 11:50 AM PST I rarely download anything unless it's a few song. Last month (on the 20th to be exact) I downloaded something that was 2GB. Previously I got a message saying something like "Your Fair Usage is 80%". Anyway, I (apparently) passed the Fair Usage Policy mark and sure enough my speed was lowered. For the next couple of days my speed was so low that I couldn't even get to my email. I read that my speed would go down to 50%. I have a 512 connection; my normal speed is around 70kbps. After Fair Usage Policy........0-4kbps!?!? Shouldn't it be around 35kbps!? Okay, I kept quiet because my speed would be reset on my next billing cycle; which was 2 days later on the 26th of November. Well, that day came and went, then I thought maybe it'll be reset on the 1st of December; well, that day's long gone too. Is my speed ever going back to normal? How many years is this going to take? I spend my entire day on the internet; now I have nothing. I'm paying for an online game, and I can't play it. I'd be happy with 30kbps but I don't even have that. I hate calling customer service, especially in India. Has anyone had a similar experience? How long must I wait? |
