2010 MANSORY BMW X6 M

Posted: 13 Nov 2010 10:13 PM PST

2010 MANSORY BMW X6 M
Soon after the presentation of the individualised BMW X5, MANSORY Switzerland AG, with its sister model the BMW X6, presents in society the second Bavarian automobile to be the fortunate object of a comprehensive revamp. An exclusive bodywork, performance and interior programme has been developed and gives the SUV coupe a definitely more sporty appearance.

Just as with all previous vehicles, with the BMW X6, MANSORY has paid close attention to the precise fit of parts while at the same time bearing in mind a sporty, individual design. The perfectly harmonising details turn the high demands which MANSORY makes on itself and on its products into reality and transform the wide-bodied Bavarian into a real eye-catcher. Due to a new front spoiler with larger air intakes and an extra light bonnet made entirely of carbon which, with its ventilation channels, optimises air flow to the front engine, the MANSORY X6 already looks a lot more brawny when you catch sight of it in the rear-view mirror. This impression is reinforced even more by the widened wings which flow into the newly designed side skirts and give the vehicle around 70 millimetres more width at the front and 80 millimetres at the rear.
2010 MANSORY BMW X6 M
At the back a newly designed skirt comes into play using an integrated diffuser which has room for four stainless steel exhaust pipes from the MANSORY sports exhaust system. A roof spoiler for additional contact pressure and a rear spoiler lip give the MANSORY X6 more stability at high speeds. Nearly all the aerodynamic components are fabricated by the engineers from high-tensile polyurethane (PU-RIM) and from prepreg autoclave carbon, characteristic of MANSORY. In the process, the preformed carbon-fibre parts are given a permanent shape in autoclaves by the effects of vacuum and heat which guarantees a perfect surface finish with low weight.
So that the overwhelming visual presence is given appropriate backup, MANSORY treats the BMW X6 M’s production engine to a performance upgrade. At around 670 HP / 493 kW and a huge torque of 950 Nm at 5900 rpm, the MANSORY X6 surpasses the original figures by a long chalk (production engine: 555 HP / 408 kW and 680 Nm at 1500 – 5650 rpm). This leap in performance is made possible by using an entirely new exhaust system complete with exhaust manifold and perfected engine electronics. The performance, too, benefits from these modifications. In a mere 4.2 seconds, the MANSORY X6 makes it from a standing start to main road speed and thanks to a Vmax override reaches a top speed of 300 kms/h.
2010 MANSORY BMW X6 M
Contact with the road is via distinctive MANSORY light alloy rims. These improve the handling and highlight the vehicle’s appearance. The M10 silver-finished, cast, monoblock wheels are equipped with 315/25R23 tyres which make for the right surface grip. With progressively wound sports suspension and an adapted height adjustment, at the same time the vehicle’s centre of gravity is lowered by around 40 millimetres so that the 23″ wheels fill the wheel arches. Larger brake discs and a multi-piston brake system to improve the deceleration values of the MANSORY X6 are already at the trial stage.
With the ergonomically, newly designed MANSORY Sports steering wheel, MANSORY Switzerland offers customers a special feature for the vehicle interior. Just as for all other MANSORY vehicles the same applies to the BMW X6: the customer can compose his own quite personal vehicle interior from the practically endless combinations of leather, Alcantara, wood, carbon or aluminium trim and just about any technical gadget imaginable. The in-house MANSORY leather workshop is always available to turn the customer’s wishes into reality.

Joel Robuchon’s “Yoshi” Michelin Star Restaurant

The Yoshi is situated in the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo. It opened in December 2008 and serves contemporary Japanese food, reinterpreted by Joël ROBUCHON, the chef with the most Michelin stars in the world – he now has 26 stars in the Michelin Guide. The interior was designed by Didier Gomez and reflects Joël ROBUCHON’s poetic, modern view of Japan.

“I’m very happy to share this success with everyone at Yoshi and with the team at the Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo,” stated Joël ROBUCHON. “I am proud of the work they have done in the past fifteen months. They have achieved the extremely high standards that I set when we first started working together.”

In 2006, Christophe CUSSAC, Executive Chef of the Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo and his team were rewarded with a first star for the Restaurant Joël ROBUCHON Monte-Carlo, followed by a second in 2007. This luxury Monegasque hotel therefore has a total of three stars in the Guide Michelin (France) for its cuisine, which is entirely conceived by Joël ROBUCHON.

Under the aegis of Christophe CUSSAC, Japanese chef Takeo Yamazaki creates typically Japanese dishes with a modern twist. His inventive menu is based on traditional ingredients and brings out the subtle flavors of his native Japan.

Takeo Yamazaki studied with Joël ROBUCHON for 14 years in Robuchon’s first restaurant in Japan, the Château Robuchon in Tokyo. After a year in Monaco, Chef Yamazaki rejoined Joël ROBUCHON in the Japanese capital for the opening of L'Atelier.

He has been in charge of the team at Yoshi since it opened.

The dining area of the restaurant is very intimate, with 35 covers. It opens onto a Japanese-style garden, which was designed by landscape designer Jacques MESSIN. Messin worked closely with Didier Gomez to create a transitional area between the interior and the exterior, which contrasts harmoniously with the urban environment around it.

Joël ROBUCHON was hailed as the “Cook of the Century” by Gault Millau in 1990. His first Parisian restaurant was elected “Best Restaurant in the World” by the International Herald Tribune in 1994. He is now head of 17 restaurants world-wide, for example in Hong Kong, Las Vegas, London, Macao, Monaco, New York, Tokyo and Taipei. In 2003, Joël ROBUCHON launched the concept of L’Atelier (the Workshop), which was so successful that he went on to open branches internationally.

Yoshi is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12.15 pm to 2 pm for lunch and from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm for dinner. Chef Takeo Yamazaki offers a selection of “Bento” menus at lunchtime from 29€, as well as an à la carte menu and taster menus.

Joel Robuchon is a man of fashion. And the fashion of the moment is called Japanese food. Yoshi is the first Joel Robuchon’s Japanese restaurant in the world. It was opened in Metropole hotel in Monaco where there is one Robuchon’s restaurant already. The chef in the kitchen is 39 nine year old chef from Japan Takeo Yamazaki, while Joel Robuchon does the guidance.

Robuchon creates innovative, delicious cooking and spotless perfection. He also sets high standard and has strong values. There is no toro in Yoshi, Robuchon believes strongly in support of Monaco’s ban on the endangered blue-fin tuna from its shops and restaurants which is a good thing of course. The standard of the quality of sashimi at Yoshi is very high, undoubtedly, some of the best quality raw fish in France.

Polyphony’s Gran Turismo games tread the line between fantasy and reality with the balance of a trapeze artist. Not only are the games themselves a close approximation of reality, but once in a while, reality jumps out of the digital world and into the tangible.

A couple of years ago the game’s creators worked with the French automaker to give birth to the GTbyCitroën – a supercar designed specifically for the game. But then they made it into a concept car and put it on display. And while it never came to be, they even considered a limited production run.

The latest collaboration brought the recently-crowned world champion Red Bull Racing team on board for the X1 prototype. Again, an extreme high-performance vehicle designed specifically for the game – this time a vision of what an F1 car could be if not for all the pesky regulations. Initial reports that the car is powered by a turbine engine are now being corrected to an F1-derived, direct-injection, twin-turbo V6. Fortunately, the 1483-horsepower output remains.

Actually building the X1 into a functioning track car would be a little pointless and undoubtedly extremely expensive, but they have made a full-size mock-up that will be unveiled during the game’s launch party, scheduled (don’t hold your breath) for Madrid in a few weeks’ time. Here’s hoping GT5 can follow that same fantasy-to-reality trajectory and land in our hands on (the revised and revised again) schedule.

Mercedes Benz Fascination Concept Car

Posted: 13 Nov 2010 07:02 PM PST

Mercedes Benz showed off its new Fascination concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It was a fastback or shooting brake styled coupe with the roofline staying high like an estate giving very generous space in the back of the car.

In reality the Fascination concept previewed the forthcoming new e-class range, having the identical front end to the production cars, and rear styling close to that of the estate, and in being a coupe itself also hinted that Mercedes would release a new E-class coupe too, which they inevitably did.

The concept car used a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine with twin turbochargers to push power to 204 horsepower whilst keeping very low emissions.

Futuristic Bugatti Stratos Concept

The mesmerizing Buggati Stratos created by the French graphic designer affirms that it is favorable to let go the tech spec considerations to create a gem of a design. Bruno was inspired by the ever so beautiful Buggati Type 57 Atlantic and that inspiration did help him weave magic. Some design cues were also picked up from the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Mille Miglia (for the front end) and Raymond Loewy's locomotive designs. I must say that it for the first time I don't really bother whether the Stratos will ever make the cut or not.

67 Cosmo Sport 110S DV 08 MH p1 Mazda Cosmo Sport 110SThe Cosmo Sport (110S) – the world’s first dual-rotor rotary engine production car – was officially launched on May 30th of 1967.

This particular 1967 Cosmo Sport 110S L-110A model is owned by Mazda North American Operations, based in Irvine, California. Records show only two 1967 Cosmos were exported to the United States, this one being registered to Curtiss-Wright Corporation, the North American rights-holder of the Wankel rotary engine, until February 1984 (Mazda was the Asian rights-holder for the use of the engine in motor vehicles). It subsequently changed hands three more times before coming back ‘home’ to Mazda. The odometer reading is original and correct at a little over 11,000 km.
