Help needed on Router configuration : fixed I.P needed on Dynamic I.P Posted: 08 Oct 2010 12:56 PM PDT Hi, I have MTNL Broadband, and modem (MT882) connected <<Ethernet>> Wifi router (Netgear WGR 614 v6). Now the problem I'm facing is, router generates new i.p. address for mylaptop, iPhone's everytime, that means dymanic i.p. This creates a problem for my iPhone, it does get connected to Wifi, but internet only starts after 2 minutes or so. whereas, my laptop connectes to the Wifi, & starts loading websites instantly. That means, my laptop gets it's I.P. address & port settings, sorted up, very quickly. Whereas, my iPhone & other Wifi phone, takes around 2 minutes, to get it's I.P. address settings, sorted out, & gets disconnected from internet after every 5 minutes, but is always connected to Wifi. My modem i.p. is 192.168.X.X whereas, my router is 10.0.X.X & all my laptop, iPhone gets their I.P as 10.0.0.2------10.0.0.5, randomly allocated, everytime. So, I think the solution to this problem is, that i should have static/Fixed I.P. allocated to my Laptop, iPhone's by router. This way they will get connected to Internet instantly, & sort this I.P. address/ Port forward problem. Sometime ago, a member on this site, helped me set Fixed i.p. on my router, which sorted this out, but i had to re-install the router firmware, which deleted all the settings. due to which, my modem, router, laptop, everything was on same I.P address, like 192.168.1.1 for Modem, 192.168.1.2 for router, 192.168.1.3 for laptop, 192.168.1.4 for iPhone. he some how, did that. Now, If anyone could help regarding this over mesenger/IM, I will really appreciate that. Waiting for the reply. |

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 11:54 AM PDT you guys are lucky one , who tried hand on 3G very early , but when everybody have 3G then told me wt speeds u got , then snatch a snap from speedtest, Anyway anyhow , jab tak user kam hai , speed tana tan ayegee, if lot of rush speed reduced to 600kbps to 400kbps, BSNL has no power to reduce ur speed , common mens they are PSU , they does not think all of this But private operator can do this , so that other user on same cell site can use data services , because next 2 to 3 years is very labor intensive for 3G ---------- Post added at 12:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:18 AM ---------- yes in 4G u got full promised speed , no matter how much user , because 4G needs lot spectrum , but it is 10 to 20 times more efficent than 3G , Wimax is very high capacity 4G tech , i recently went to a Bsnl Wimax cell site and i saw , at least 400 user are currently online and use wimax , and network is just 30 percent utilised , guys u can estimate how effective is 4G tech , speed of wimax is 7mbps to minimum 2mbps till now , because backhaul infrastructure of bsnl is not ready |
