Few questions about Reliance Wireline (Broadband) internet

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 12:38 PM PDT

Hmmm...

Well sorry to take up this thread./
I applied intially for new Airtel 2 Mbps plan (Rs. 1299), but they acted as a bitch. The cable was there, but the db got choked here at Chennai due to some drainage trenching and the new connection was not feasible../

Hence I have shifted to Reliance 1099 plan with 1 Mbps unlimited, and what I like the most about this plan is no FUP :D
The exact feasibility is not there, but the pole is 100 Meters away and we applied for two connection so they told they will be extedning withing few days and probably install the connection within 5 to 7 days.
So as I applied on wednesday I am hoping I get the connection by Monday or Wednesday.

What Inferred from this thread, is Reliance requires this login thingy which I hate, lets see how this connection turns up on grabbing it.
Btw about the Reliance ping, how is it. Like I play online games sometime so I was wondering how efficient will it be for that purpouse./

BSNL Broadband "selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in" is a disaster in my opinion

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:49 AM PDT

The "Disaster" works only in parts. It (1)shows bill details [lots and lots] of even the latest bill [Aurangabad/Maharashtra] (2) Gives some 2-3 days old BB-usage and details in absurd formats.(3)One still cant pay via net banking. (4) "Contact us" number never answers. (5)Has stopped working in IE8 !! Says " Sorry, your browser/program is not supported by Web Dynpro!" OK in Firefox.
My main worry was tracking usage [ plan 500 / 2.5 gb limit about 80mb/day].
I have now a solution :-
There is a very simple but very useful free broadband usage utility named "Broadband Usage Meter" by one Patiala company. "www.rackeys.com" , It is independant of service provider, I am happy with it. No web site/portal etc needed. Displays count properly continuously. Please comment here how u like it.

BSNL Broadband: Yucky!!

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

It’s crap dipshit soaked service that I have never ever experienced in the past 3 years with Airtel. Part of the reason was the urgent need to transfer my residence back because of some family issues. Apart from that, I (…)Read the rest of this entry »

RIM Blackberry: Much ado about nothing

Blackberry has been under fire literally. Admittedly it has been popular because of it’s push email facility but atrocious overpriced crap dipshit handsets which don’t justify for it’s price. It was bound to rake up news. Government of India has (…)Read the rest of this entry »

British Telecom: Misleading communication

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

This is important for us to know that the advertising watchdog in Britain works unlike the Advertising Standards Council of India which is toothless “regulator”. No one gives a **** to the poor sods who claim “moral high ground”. It (…)Read the rest of this entry »

BSNL Broadband: Refreshing change

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

I have had issues with BSNL for a long time including huge latency times and in general a very poor customer response. Yet, when I had shift back to BSNL because of change of residence (after nearly 4 years), there (…)Read the rest of this entry »

This is a follow up post to the earlier write up. Whilst it’s difficult to update it on a regular basis, you can follow up on the news. Interestingly, there has been an editorial about the same in Business Standard (…)Read the rest of this entry »

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) India: Coming soon?

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

This is one of the most progressive legislations in recent times. Imagine a telephone number that stays with you till the time you want. I had to change the telecom circle recently and trust me, the kind of confusion that (…)Read the rest of this entry »

Ubuntu 10.10: Countdown begins

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

Erratic posting

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT

I am stuck up because of academic reasons; hence the highly irregular and erratic postings here. All the more there is nothing “serious” happening over Broadband. Although, Airtel is still crowing about the new “unlimited plans” with Fair Usage Policy. (…)Read the rest of this entry »
